  • As long as the people are free to come up with healthcare strategies,

then it's all a pass. The minute the Fed forces something on us,

    then it's all a fail.

  • trybeyondorganic [dot] com - A brand new company you can be a part of selling organic food.

  • Comment removed

  • More layabouts complaining that they aren't getting something for free.

  • I'm gonna own a company one day with employees and this is gonna be our model.

  • Personal responsibility people. That's what its about. The company you work for is not your babysitter. The government is not your parent. Your life is up to you. If you don't agree with a companies policy, vote with your feet and go elsewhere. Don't whine like spoiled children wanting another cookie and expect any sympathy. Grow up.

  • Love how that black bitch tried to call the CEO racist in the beginning...This has NOTHING TO DO WITH RACE HAHAHAHAHA FAIL...of course this is what I would expect from union workers....

  • them protesters are just mad because withdraws power from unions that profit from union organized programs

  • People who are against unions are idiots, unless you are a greedy business owner who wants to exploit his/her workforce.

  • @xxdiogenescynicxx yea greedy evil union hating immigrant contractor, thats me.

  • @xxdiogenescynicxx The union is the largest most corrupt business there is, if only they did not control your handouts you would be able to see this. But I understand, why would you want to bite the hand that feeds you...wipes your ass.... and slaps you in the face with its dick.

  • @hyetalian1 Hand outs??? what the hell are you talking about you know nothing about me or where I work. If it were up to you, you would go back to feudalism or child slave labor, retard!

  • John Mackey has given me more money, more insurance, and an amazing amount growth than any union package I was ever dealt. I worked unions in two different industries(food and construction) and they are a joke. I grew up in a union household. Every single carpenter I know that is union is unemployed, and every general contractor I know is working. You can fight for unions all you want...but they are a sham and you are being duped.

  • Who is looking for the nautural health products?

  • i love whole foods but why the hell does everything gotta be so over priced.. -_-

  • Unions suck!, especially this one complaining about Whole Foods. I have their health insurance option and use my school insurance instead.

  • Now Whole Foods is punishing its employees who are older and heavier by giving extra discounts to younger and more attractive employees!

  • Haha look at the stupid cow's faces at 4:17-4:23... are you proud of yourself now women?

  • Correct if Im worng but dosen't the rest of the world have free health care and It dosen't help a majority of people ? and Who is going to pay for the health care us? taxes? don't call me stupid I just want to know.

  • @shannonsurreal The countries that do have "free" health care usually pay for most costs through taxes. Then, there are countries like Germany who have government/tax funds for health care and people pay a little share each month for an insurance of their choice. At least for Germany I can say that everyone is covered. It's the law. I don't know the details, but only people who make a certain amount per year have to get private insurance.

  • I love Whole Foods!

Of course...The 99 cent store is cheaper.

  • Part of the reason I shop at Whole Foods, besides liking the product, is because of Mackey's vocal stand for freedom and free markets. Keep up the good work, guys. Great food, very competitive prices, better selection than anywhere else I've seen, and a great health care plan that exceeds most I've had access to while working as an employee.

  • This is leftist garbage. The hippies are mad because, Mackey's not a Communist. Liberalism is a mental disorder. The Afro-Leninist's destruction of America is coming to an end. I hope Obama's policy fails.

  • Of course unions want universal health care. They have promised their members lavish retirement health care benefits and now they want to pass that tab onto the US taxpayer.

  • that guy with the goatee is a moron...

  • suck a dick, hippies.

  • The guy in the yellow shirt and glasses is wrong. I just started working for a huge grocery store (who shall remain nameless) and I don't even get health insurance until I have worked there for TWO years. This was the UNIONS decision. I don't see how that is better than whole foods plan.

  • A&P? A friend of mine started working there and apparently it's union run and you have to wait a while before you get health care.

  • Mackey's a stud!

  • Shit-eating grins at 4:17

  • (Full disclosure: Mackey has contributed to Reason Foundation, the nonprofit that publishes this website.)

  • Yankhadenough

Please link your information for full disclosure.

  • idolwick LOL "Full disclosure : Mackey has contributed to Reason Foundation , the nonprofit that publishes this website" is written on the sidebar of THIS video

  • i love john mackey and love his company!

  • I've worked for Whole Foods for the past three years and couldn't agree more with the statements made by the Team Members in this video. Awesome company with amazing benefits!

  • Wow! Another Union for Healthcare!?!? Of Course... More BS. These Unions have RUINED America! We have LAWS that protect workers, UNIONS are only about POWER, MONEY, & CONTROL!

  • Allison Kelly Way is the true swine, you know, you know!!! All she is hold silly signs. A true union hack that dose not know anything but talks. Time 1:01 is proof of he dumbass. The others are just as stupid.

  • Excellent! AS ALWAYS! The substance of the haters argument is absolutely zero.

  • This is a great example of REAL balanced news!!

    Thanks!

  • Well, folks there IS a war going on for the hearts and minds of the American people. The statists are not, and never have been, averse to using misinformation, slander and sometimes outright lies to try to accomplish their mission.

It drives them nuts when people disagree with them (therefore you must be evil or stupid -- and once they've called you that, it's the same as "proving" it in their minds). But our duty to the truth compels us to disagree. Not that you'll get through to them.

  • Simon91956 Statist -WE THE PEOPLE for the Constitutional right to vote.

Libertarian- elitists against the United STATES Constitution, and calls voting "mob rule"

  • libertarianism is FORMED off of the idea of the U.S. constitution. Progressives which is what you are) hate the constitution

  • @Christoppher1994 wrong. Google history of Libertarianism, it started with the elite who were basically fed up that the everyday people had rights same as them, so they became wealthy anarchists of a sort, and have been trying to overthrow the Constitution every since, and prefer "self-governance" which of course is Law of the Jungle (might is right). Libertarians are against voting and consider it "mob rule" . Libertarianism is a throwback to feudalism.

  • google "define: Libertarian" I think it begs to differ

  • Those workers who are against a man voicing his opinion, they should protest by quiting. That ought to show John Mackey that freedom of speech is wrong.

  • People like these protestors chanting for the unattainable has done more harm than corrupt politicians ever have.

  • I have a challenge for the union scumbag and the protestors: How about THEY come up with a way to provide healthcare with a medium-low skill job that doesn't involve stealing from taxpayers? Oh, wait, that would actually require productive effort on their part. Never mind.

  • Boy, you gotta love the mindless slogan-chanting by the protesters.

  • Full disclosure ... ReasonTV is bought by John Mackey... newsflash: corporatism rules by corruption > film at 11.

  • LOL, Do you have any evidence or just saying bullshit like what usually you progressive fags say.

  • I only wish that Whole Foods were available near where I am. I would patronize their establishment if only to protest the intolerance of their opposition. Hell! I may have to drive a few hundred miles to purchase from them.

  • Excellent video. No commentary needed. Everything said by the "protestors" is a LIE. "Latino workers?" "Never knew any other sort of health plan?"

The dirtbag with the goatee and the shades is obviously a union honcho, NOT a union worker. Totally disgusting performance, and he hung himself.

  • Great commentary!!! Love it!!

Now go ahead and show these idiots proof of the truth you wrote!

    Can't wait, you go man!!

  • Fox News TODAY: "Young adults could have the highest costs to bear but the most to gain under health care proposals in Congress"

Younguns helping to take care of elders? Now this was the change I was hoping for. Thanks you you young Obamaites!

  • Clarification: I believe this means that the few with pre-exisiting conditions will also be helped by their healthier young folk.

    20-30 yo folk ...

    Thanks a $million

  • Seems to me that Mackey does Health Care quite well.

His plan could be a model for real health reform.

Our congress is not trying to reform health care.

Our congress wants to control your health care.

When they are doling out health care to all the drones the drones will have to do as they are told so they don't run up their health care bill.

No care for smokers. No care for drinkers. No care for fatsos.

Great fantasy of a plan they have.

  • I'm gonna buy twice as much as usual. The employees at my local store at least act as though they like their jobs.

  • who the fuck ever heard of a Food Service Union anyways? what the fuck. that job is supposed to be for high school kids, but a bunch of overgrown kids want to make $15/hr bagging groceries. PATHETIC, is the word for that d-bag with the facial hair and yellow shirt. YOU BAG GROCERIES, WHO ARE YOU CALLING IGNORANT?!

  • Whole foods has some of the highest wages in the entire food service industry AND they are non-union.

  • 1:00 - Typical liberal jackass playing the race card.

  • Whole Foods workers are paid better than Unions and the have better health care. Unions should be praising Whole foods instead protesting them. Unions are more concerned with unions rights than worker rights.

  • Title brings back visions of Animal House (heh-heh)

  • I agree with the Whole Foods CEO. It is absurd to believe that a "healthcare" plan is going to help the American population, anyway. We have to learn to be responsible for our own health. You will very seldom even need traditional medicine if you live the right way. Why should we all pay for other people's bad lifestyle choices? I'm going shopping now (at Whole Foods!).

  • Go liberals, taking the moral high ground for everyone else even if they are already satisfied. They won't rest until everyone lives excatly like they do. Saving the world from itself is a cause only a liberal has the courage to take up. Yes anyone that is not liberal does not know better and needs liberals to think for them. Especially minorities. You know, y even let people think and choose for themselves. Just beat them with your signs while they are actually working and reeducate them

  • We should instate the Macky Health Care Reform Bill ASAP. This is real reform folks - not the glorified tax, ration, and welfare garbage that the left is trying to cram down our throats.

  • Protestors get Pwned!! lol

  • That was fantastic.

I love how the union thugs ridicule and patronize the workers at Whole Foods, and then the next moment reveal how utterly ignorant they themselves are.

    Fantastic.

  • The labor unions are clearly scared of going the way of the dodo. They position themselves as a champion of the working class, when, in actuality, their leadership are in an elite class of their own.

  • another gem from reasonTV.

  • Fantastic video! This accurately displays the thorough ignorance of the protesters. They are truly dumber than dirt. The best thing that can be said about them is that they are knee jerk left wing union thugs incapable of rational thought.

  • thugs

  • Funny, one protester talks about WF's "Latino based workforce". As a regular WF shopper, I can tell you their workforce is not Latino based.

Hearing about how good their healthcare is, I kinda want to get a job there...

  • notice how race is interjected into by stupid liberals?

  • He's not against ALL reform, you dolt. Read his proposal.

  • The only form of reform to the Establishment Left is nationalization, or another public option. They quite fond of being uneconomical.

  • Explain to me how adding another public option is reforming the nature of our system. I'm all ears, maybe you can be the first of many to answer.

  • The two women at the end, standing there looking like they have no idea why they are there, made me laugh!! I mean those two should be in a home playin cards or Bingo!! lol

  • hey whatsup 20somethings?

Have you heard what forced ObamaCare will cost you younguns, to socialize sharing with seniors?

    Thanks

  • Forward, I find it funny that people like you are against health care reform, yet freak out and shout "don't touch my medicare", another hotly debated social reform that now is considered almost universally a GOOD thing, but still resulted in EXACTLY the same kind of divisive shouting and table thumping.

  • The medicare issue is not the same as GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTHCARE.

But if Obamacare passes, young folk might need to be paying much more for mandatory insurance. Sorry you guuys have less freedom and lower take home pay.

    But thanks.

  • @Kiltedwolf, you obviously didn't read the editorial... "While we clearly need health-care reform," is in the very begining of the article.

  • Health care reform is quite more difficult and intricate than you think it is, read the two links near on my Youtube page.

  • Have you heard the democrats says the republican have not proposed any bills?

Well, the Whole Foods market type health plan HAS been promoted by Republicans, and the left does not like it, even though it makes insurance affordable for biz and really empowers employees with choice and health incentives. Its NOT nanny state type healthcare

Quite a bizarre situation, liberals talking about choice and competition when mackycare is really the real deal.

  • Those protesters are batshit insane. They're also fucking retarded.

  • More bullshit special pleading for minorties. Another Marxist scheme replacing class with race. Sounds alot like another progressive ideology.

  • Mackey is an employer who's really helping his employees. The best way you can help an employee is to allow them to help themselves, and that's what he's doing.

Liberals think corporations have too much power, they should also look at the unions.

  • lol the dumb cunt at the end

  • plenty of libs working there duh-they want it for free. The rest like less government or their own healthcare.

    Unions can be like leaches-BS

    Great video guys-thanks!

  • These union cunts didn't even READ Mackey's op-ed, did they?!

  • "But they're boycotting the company so the company's employees can get superior government healthcare in the future!"

There aren't enough palms and faces in the world.

  • The ending...Boom! Roasted!

  • once again, great work by reason

  • If they want to boycott businesses with non-liberal CEOs, wouldn't they have to become Amish or something?

  • At least they have some kind of health care plan. Look at Walmart or McDonalds...

  • i used to avoid whole foods because i thought they were full of hippies. now it turns out that they piss them off. i don't have to eat organic do i?

  • Just because Obama suggests something doesn't mean its right. Just because someone disagrees with Obama doesn't make them wrong.

  • yes it does. It says so on the TV.

  • Whole Foods protesters = trolls

  • Well, ya don't have to worry about the government censoring free speech...some union leader douche bag will always be one step ahead.

  • Thanks John Mackey. I will shop at Whole Foods more.

  • His stance on health care reform alone makes me want to do all my shopping at Whole Foods, which wouldn't be cheap but would be soooo worth it.

    Unions suck!

  • One way to embarrass these protestors, would be to serve them good food and drink after a long and tiresome protest. They will never be able to protest at a Whole Foods again in good conscience.

  • true. there is a pic online of hooters girls serving drinks to some feminists protesting outside of their restaurant

  • If the trend catches on though, more people will show up at protests with the hope of being fed.

  • Why are so many protesters completely and utterly clueless?

  • "John Mackey's personal preferene is to not give a shit about his Latino-based *unintelligible*."

    Excuse me but. wtf?

  • Mackey is racist, why else would he disagree with something the president said?

  • I'm doing all my grocery shopping at Whole Foods from now on.

  • Can we all join in for a sing and dance or do you have to belong to the Lefty club?

  • LMAO!!

    Protesters = Pwned!

I wonder if they are proud of their ignorance.....

  • If these idiots want to protest something about healthcare, why aren't they protesting the ban on selling health insurance across state lines?

That restriction on sales stops fair competition and keeps prices high......

  • idiots

  • That union guy must believe in the tooth fairy too. He just makes sh*t up! As Penn Gillette would say, what an ASSHOLE!!!

  • Oh Mackey he's so fine - I like Mackey. Hey Mackey!

I don't think Mackey is against health reform.

I think he's against what is going on in our Congress which is not reform - It's a takeover.

One great reform would be to let health insurance companies compete nationwide.

At present you are limited to only a few choices in health insurance providers.

Why can't we have as many choices in Health insurance providers as we do in Auto insurance providers?

The best price gets the customers.

  • Why was the protester guy so condescending of the workers when they didn't agree with them. Calling them ignorant and that they need to have their liberty taken away for their own good.

  • prohibition of food.......

hmmm what will our next prohibition be?

  • LOL at the ending....good vid.

  • I think I am going to apply for a job at Whole Foods!

    The CEO makes sense!

  • thank the lord they got a black woman to support whole foods, or obamacare supporters would say that reasonTV is racist.

  • so true, we'd have rich white opinion monger ditto heads on tv spewing that bullshit too.

  • I live in Europe and so we dont have a Whole Foods store here. I used to think Whole Foods was for dirty hippies. Now I really want them to open one here. This is better for Whole Foods than spending millions on publicity. These professional paid union thugs (basically the Democrats Brown Shirts) are a minority. Most people will be revolted by them and love WF even more.

  • Those left wing demonstrators need to pull their heads out of their rear ends. So what if the CEO has a different opinion than them? Also, just because he opposes Obama's proposed plans, doesn't mean he's against all forms of healthcare reform. He has made suggestions for healthcare reform himself.

  • seriously if they don't like it they can go get a better job. they can go work for subway and get nothing but straight minimum wage and a 6 inch sub. they misunderstand that he is for the free market, which is not functioning in that industry anyways. so the disease is the cure o them because the let tv think for them. If the free market was allowed to work HSA's would kick ass 'cuz costs would drop dramatically.

  • Comment removed

  • I never shopped at Whole Foods before....I will from now on

  • Wow....... Wow........

  • health care hasn't been in the free market for decades which is what people do not understand. hell, we haven't had the free market functioning in this country for years.

  • America has never had a free market. It might have been much closer to a free market than other countries, but as long as there has been a government, the market hasn't been free.

  • a free market needs law protection from goverment so that the contracts made are worth something. else it would end up in anarchy i think

america came very close to a free market system before money was printable

  • Reputation makes contracts worth something.

  • Bullshit. Anarchism IS a free market.

Free markets do not need laws from government. The market itself provides those laws. A market is simply people interacting with each other. Government is an arbitrary monopoly on force that comes along, gun blazing, and tries to pervert the market as it sees fit.

America was close, but it wasn't a free market. It's never been a free market and never will be while there is still a government.

  • Not true. The free market cannot function without a means of the enforcement of contracts or the protection of property rights. Otherwise it would be preferable to rob others than to produce.Anarchy breeds corruption.A limited government is necessary to preserve individual rights. The idea of a republic is that the minority is protected by the rule of law.The free market cannot operate under a majority rules state which anarchy inevitably becomes.

  • "The minority is protected by the rule of law"

Haha. Right. The Consitution will magically strike down politicians who violate people's rights. Which is why George Bush and Barack Obama both got struck by lightning out of the blue. What, you mean they didn't? Huh. Maybe the "magic piece of paper" argument is bs.

  • "The free market cannot function without a means of the enforcement of contracts or the protection of property rights. "

Did you not just read my comment above that clearly stated "the market itself provides those laws"?

You're brainwashed by government-run public schooling. A limited government PRESERVES individual rights? Ha! It tramples them, you idiot! A government monopolizes force. There's no reason why a monopoly on force need exist.

  • So furthermore,if you were well versed in Austrian Economics,or the ideas of Ron Paul you would know that the free market does not provide these mechanisms and that a limited government is necessary to provide what the free market does not for its own good. The enforcement of contracts and property rights. And you do not understand that a limited government means that it does not have the authority nor power to trample individual rights. You talk big but you don't think big sir.

  • "if you were well versed in Austrian Economics..."

How doesn't it? Please explain. Private regulation exists. My last job was within a privately regulated industry that people depend on daily for their safety.

I understand Austrian economics. You assume a lot of me.

There's no way a government can be instituted that doesn't trample on individual rights. Show me an example of a government that doesn't trample on individual rights. It doesn't exist.

  • What you have said was not said by Mises, Hayeck, or Ron Paul. So where are you getting your info from? it is quite wrong friend. Show me a period of anarchy with a free market. that has never existed. the first mistake you make in economics is not knowing that all 3 basic models exist in all national economies. you have to speak of the free market's presence in regards to economic sectors to be clear. You are being too vague and that is the only way to logically support your argument.

  • "What you have said was not said by Mises, Hayeck, or Ron Paul."

Yeah, because Ron Paul is such a staunch defender of the free market!

Minarchy and the free market do not mix. It's a fallacy, clung to by people who cannot let go of that last little bit of statism. It makes absolutely no sense at all to recognize the failures of government, only to turn around and say "but we need a small one," especially given how government proves over and over again to grow in size regardless.

  • private regulation is called planned economics, as is public regulation.that is why anarchy or self-regulation does not work,it turns into communism for someone eventually. For starters how about Iceland, the world's oldest democracy.Or Switzerland, who is so hands off they have the most corrupt banking in the world.just because you haven't done your homework does not mean the facts aren't already available.i doubt you have ever tried to find anything that goes against what you want to believe.

  • Private regulation isn't planned economics, it's the market providing order to the process of human interaction. Nothing is planned because businesses have to compete to provide the best service, instead of having a government that doesn't compete at all because it funds itself through extortion.

    "I did not assume"

You're calling me a Christian, when I'm subscribed to Pat Condell. Not only have you assumed a LOT, you made yourself look like a fucking moron in the process.

  • I did not assume, you have totally misquoted austrian economics, which leads me to believe that you do not understand it. If you say something, and then say it is according to something else when it is not, and i call you on it, how is that an assumption? you are so ridiculously misinformed, and then you are an ass about it. half the time you just try to insult me instead of staying on topic. so why don't we end this and you keep on pretending, and i keep on not caring about you being dumb.

  • MY industry? I have no idea what you're talking about.

You say drug gangs are what happens with no government. Except drug gangs cannot be profitable without government prohibiting aforementioned drugs. Fail.

  • So do you rely on an ability to enforce contracts in "your industry" in a court of law? If yes, then you rely on limited government .

If you don't rely on an ability for court-enforcement of contracts in "your industry", then your recourse for enforcement of such agreements is violence (i.e. like the drug gangs). Government prohibition of drugs results in violence because business transactions between parties in the illicit drug industry are NOT enforceable in courts of law.

  • I don't know what "your industry" is. I guess I didn't make that clear enough in my last comment.

Furthermore, government enforces EVERYTHING with violence. If you don't pay taxes, you go to jail. If you don't go to jail, then send armed men to your house.

Finally, prohibition results in violence because it creates a black market for the prohibited products. Duh.

  • And yes America has never completely had a free market in all sectors. All national economies have all 3 basic economic models spread across their sectors. but this would be over your head. However in the health sector before congressional intervention and HMO's we did. My gma has practiced medicine longer than Ron Paul. Also you speculate way too much. I did not attend public school, I was home schooled and I am an economic geographer so you are waaaay in over your head pal.

  • "the greatest enemy of knowledge is not ignorance, it is the illusion of knowledge"

    -Stephen Hawking

  • government can be a monopoply of coercion, which is why the founder gave us the 2nd amendment, as well as the first. Our government is corrupt because we let it get this way. Just because we let it go to shit does not mean it is meant to fail. Everyone gets the government that they deserve.

  • No, they get the government that the majority elects, with some interests behind the scenes pulling strings.

  • Not true, anyone can run for public office and anyone can expose the lies through independent journalism if they were so motivated. If every schmuck put down their wii and ipod and gave a fuck we wouldn't have these problems. I love all these anarchists that still expect the government to do things for them and use that bad expectation to justify their hatred of government. funny.

  • You're talking about anarchists that expect the government to do things for them. You're a fucking idiot.

  • I was talking about you. If you expect a constitution to exercise your rights for you, and then say it is dumb because of your dumb expectation, how can you be an intelligible anarchist. Our rights are embodied in our actions, and the constitution is the outline of what actions we have the legal outline to exercise without violating someone elses rights. you do not even know anything bout anarchy. you just speak in fashionable slogans thinking youre cool.

  • "If you expect a constitution to exercise your rights for you"

I never said that. God, your reading comprehension SUCKS.

  • Wait, no, I know what it is. You realize that you have no argument so instead of arguing against my argument, you figure you'll just straw man my words. Fuck off, you pathetic attention whore.

  • "government can be a monopoply of coercion, which is why the founder gave us the 2nd amendment, as well as the first."

Government IS. That's what defines the government: people who can create laws and point guns at you when you disagree with those laws.

As to your magic scrolls, yeah, they are such a blessing, aren't they? They work so well in preserving our rights, which is why we have things like "free speech zones." Wait a minute...

  • The constitution is our rights, not the protection of them, you have to do that yourself fool. How could someone not brainwashed by the government not get this? and you also misunderstand that anybody can write and introduce a bill to congress. many laws were written by average citizens. also not only were individuals given the right to bear arms but any state or private group can form its own militia for self defense, which is good since the Nat Guard was federalized.

  • You're a goddamn moron. A piece of paper does not give you rights. Even that piece of paper explicitly states as much. Fuck, you don't even know what you're arguing for. Thank god for public schools dumbing down people the way that you've been dumbed down.

  • You are right. It outlines them. It is our job to exercise them. It is quite obvious an inanimate object does not give anything. Why don't you respond to what i say instead of what you have a response for. I know exactly what I am arguing for. you confuse your misunderstanding for mine. but whatev. You don't speak like a good christian. I have only been rude in retaliation but I prefer to not have to.

  • yeah this over some people's heads be careful. don;t cause brain injuries for these folks. i won't say any names though. he knows who he is. but, yes a limited government stops private intervention in the free market which would then become a planned or if wrecked bad enough a subsistence or underground economy. Most ppl also don't realize that some sectors have been are more free market than others.

  • um.. no national economy has not had all 3 basic economic models present across all sectors. America has had a large portion of it's national economy as a free market in its history. Of course now it is mostly planned now, almost as much as china's. Some sectors are or have been more free market than others. Healthcare was freemarket until congresses HMO intervention disaster.

  • It feels like the people protesting Whole Foods' health insurance plan don't actually work for Whole Foods.

  • God, i love Reason.

  • i love whole foods!

  • As always, the union leaders are getting all pissed off. What a bunch of dipshits. What about freedom of speech, morons?? Mackey can't say something you don't like without being 'punished'?

That union guy should really go into a Whole Foods once and actually talk to the employees instead of buying into myths from big anticorporate groups, probably the same folks who hate Walmart.

  • i don't think it has anything to do with freedom of speech--the protesters weren't saying Mackey shouldn't have been allowed to write his op-ed, they are just disagreeing with him.

they should feel free to criticize, protest, and boycott. however, boycotting is a voluntary form of action that is more congruent with the market than what they advocate, which is government. government is force and coercion and doesn't allow you to just simply stop using their services.

  • I think as long as they aren't harassing customers and spreading lies it's fine. I've seen boycotts where they get in people's faces and start yelling and arguing with them.

  • but they are spreading lies. the first guy said Mackey opposes health care reform which isn't true. In that op-ed he offered his solution.

  • These left-wingers are just insane. "Let's boycott the entire store just because their CEO said something we don't like." yeah... makes WONDERFUL sense. Since when is the store equal to just the CEO?? When is ANY store "just the CEO"? Don't they at least know the basics of companies?
