Trigger, Cross and Dreamers are all in the same world, on parallel timelines.
Think of Home world and Another world in Cross, The same, yet many difference. In each of these timelines, was a piece of something that was needed in order to create the Chrono Cross. The Chrono Trigger and The Frozen Flame, which is needed to defeat the real Lavos, the Schala-fused "Time Devourer". Dreamers is canon.
RD has nothing to do with CT nor CC.....yet.. RD was the key why CC is created...so without RD there's no CC at all..but keep this in mind...RD has nothing to do with CC... niether its a prequel or sequel... go it?
Yes. People get the idea that Radical Dreamers is somehow mixed in, but it's not canon at all. And no, that recorded bit at Chronopolis is just a reference.
theirs several endings, one where kid leaves with magus never to be seen again (this one) another where kid and serge get together and run away from eveyrone never to be seen again, and another where serge runs away from kid after she confeses her love. theirs quite afew more endings but these are gonna come up about 70% of the time

It's too bad this great, albiet short, sequel was taken out for that stupid piece of shit called Chrono Cross. I hate that game, it has no direction in it's story and the characters are just cliches.
Fucking Square ruining Trigger with that bullshit Chrono Cross.
I enjoyed Chrono Cross as much as Chrono Trigger, and also thought Radical Dreamers was better. Was it different? Sure, but it still had a lot of heart just like the original. The storyline was much more complex and each of the individual characters may not have been as fleshed out, but it was a game I'll remember for years to come.
They were both great games...but it just doesn't work to try to directly link them together...they should have been stand alone stories if they were going to do Cross like they did...it would have made more sense with not attempt to link it to CT. Many of the details are just explained away by having little ghosts of Crono, Marle, and Lucca at the end standing around because there was nothing in the gameplay to explain the very loose link in the stories.
I disagree. There were plenty of links--Chronoopolis, FATE, parallel dimensions, Lucca's burning house, Prometheus, the Reptites, Lavos, and Schala. Those were all things that weren't described by little ghosts.
felix, this story actually does make a lot more sense based on what little I have seen - there are political issues being explained and Porre's involvement.
Dude, they were never explained, why? Cuz' Kato's just a glory hog who wanted to ruin Chrono Trigger because he wanted his cash cow, Chrono Cross, to succeed and ruin Trigger's name.
Chrono Cross has one of the greatest story's in rpg history. Its actually has much more depth than even Chrono Trigger its just a bit overwhelming for the more casual gamers. I also though Chrono Cross's battle system was a huge success, i don't know where people get off thinking that Cross is a bad game.
Because it is. How can you even say anything about the story when it was never finished? Hell, Serge's journey doesn't make sense, WHY DID HE NOT JUST GO HOME?!
I know! Seriously, people who think that are really pompous in my opinion. I think for those who played CT first are just stuck in that mind set "CT is the best game evar and nothing can campare, blahhh!" I believe that no matter what kind of sequal they made, there'd always be bitching. You can't please everyone, and we can't all have the same opinion. I love them both equally, although I play CC more often because I just find it brilliant and beautiful. :3 And I love all the characters. XD
well i think Chrono cross was superior that Chrono trigger. The world was beautiful, the music everything it was perfect.
Yeah time traveling was fun but Parallel dimension traveling was also great!
Also the Chrono Cross battle system was the best I have seen I just loved there is no need to fight random monster all the time that makes it perfect.
Loved Lynx's theme as well - Square should have carried it over to Crono Cross, ah well~ And yeah, way too short, considering it was a text adneture - I was hoping for a novel...not a..uh..chapter? heh :)

and how is this supposed to be a Sequel?

Chrono Cross has a terribly convoluted and quite frankly badly paced story. Regardless of how beautiful of a game it is the story is a complete mess.
Radical Dreamers isn't canon anyway, Magus isn't Guile and so fourth.

Chrono cross doesn't have a terribly convoluted story. Nonsense.

but if it isnt why there is a guy very simylar to magus and thjere is one kid ????????????????????????? wierdddd
tanaxi1 2 years ago
Because Square originally intended for Guile to be Magus, but axed the idea at the last minute.
zpoope 2 years ago
@zpoope then brought the idea back with the remake of Chrono Trigger.

@Trae: Exactly... There were so many links to Chrono Trigger in the game, you can't say it was just something thrown in there.

It's pretty cool that you stumble across a computer console in the time lab in Chrono Cross, where they speak of this timeline.
