Oh really? The only ppl that Alexander was connected to was the Illyrians. His fatherPhilip was half Illyrian, half Macedonian( a Pelasgian ppl, just like the Illyrians, that spoke a similiar language with Illyrian) and Alexander the great's mother was an Illyrian from Epirus. I don't really understand what the hullabaloo is all about. Everyone here seems to hate the possibility of being a Slav. In refutation to you all, here is my rendition of their history. King Philip and Alexander conquered Greece and the Dalian League, with the exception of Sparta. Macedonia spoke a dialect of Greek, but it was different enough that the Greeks of that era considered it an entirely different language. They were a separate entity then, not that much has changed about them since.

The occupation of the greek territory is ignorant cause every greek state or alliance of states was trying to do exactly that. The Peloponese war is a great example. All the ancient documents they quote referring to the "Macedonian language" use the term Makedonisti which of course does not mean a different language. It refers to the form of the Greek langauge spoken in Macedonia. Similarly there are ancient documents referring to the Greek dialect of Athens as Attikisti or the Greek dialect of Peloponisos as Peloponisti

In WWII Macedonia was occupied by Bulgaria, Germany,Italy and Albania. During WWII Macedonian rebels fought alone against ocupators, and in 1944 was Established Macedonian republic. Same year according to Yalta agreement(1943) new Yugoslavia was established with dominated Soviet influence, and Greece was under Englands influence. Thats why Macedonians were compulsion to be part of new Yugoslavia, and thats why Macedonians lost in Greek civil war in 1949

Our Part of Macedonia in 1913 was occupied by Serbia. After WWI, France and England created Kingdom of Serbians,Croats,Slovenes(later Yugoslavia). In this Kingdom, Serbia wanted to keep this part of Macedonia and because of that Macedonians (like Montenegrians and Muslims) weren't recognized as nation.
