  • I don't get it, what are the rules?

  • love it will use it with my youth

  • btw. thanks for the game idea matthew!

  • I said "Just" preaching doesn't work. Students don't care how much you know until they know how much you care. I speak Every Wednesday night but we also invest some time building relationships. It's ALL about relationships... with God, eachother and our world. And yes, I believe Jesus played games with his disciples.

  • @prestonhocker I agree that it is about building relationships, first with God, then with leaders. Wouldn't one on one time work better than games though? And where in the Bible does it say to build relationships with the world.

I would agree that Jesus probably did play games with his deciples, but not with the crowds of people he preached to. He didn't use games to "Lure" people in.

  • haha love it!

  • Whats up with youth groups and games these days? We should be preaching the word, not playing games. If the purpose of a youth group was to build relationships with each other then this would be ok. But the purpose of the youth group is supposed to be to streingthen the relaionship between the youth and GOD. So why the heck do we need these freakin' games?!

  • We need the games b/c just preaching doesnt work. Its kind of like feeding an infant meat and potatoes... they get sick. You're right that youth group is supposed to help youth develop a relationship with God but who are you to say you cant do that and play games. I'd be curious how often you help in your local youth group. You cant complain about something you're not willing to fix.

  • @prestonhocker Did you just say preaching doesn't work?

Matthew 4:17 - 18-17From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

Mark 16:15-15And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.

I guess you think the Bible is wrong. If Jesus did it, it works!

Oh and by the way, I am a student youth leader, and my youth group is going down a dangerous and worldly path that I am praying God stops

  • You have a lot to learn my friend.

  • @prestonhocker You are right, I'm only 16 and I don't pretend to know it all. All I know so far I can only credit to the Lord Jesus Christ.

  • @udeadeyee your missing the point....yes the whole point is to attract non christians, how else do you lead people to Christ...games are just the bait, the gospel is the hook and we are to be fishers of men are we not?

  • @010byg The way you are supposed to lead people to Christ is by preaching the good news. Jesus said "Go into all the world and preach the Gospel", he didn't say "Invite all your pagan friends to come into my house of worhip and play games.". That's how you lead people to Christ, by going out and telling them about him. We are fishers of men but you can't fish from your living room, you have to get out on the water.

  • @udeadeyee to the random judger playing games may seem dumb and pointless but for a new kid coming to youth group who doesn't know anyone it is a great way to break the ice with other kids and make friends. It lets them know they are accepted. "Acceptance paves the way for influence." - andy stanley

  • @passkubalon Although games can take away meaningful face to face talking with leaders, I totally agree that they can "break the ice with other kids".

  • @udeadeyee Kids in the church is better than kids on the street and I'm sure they did more that night than play games.

  • @udeadeyee do you think youth/teens would actually want to go to a church listen to a 1 hour message and go home? no they need an exciting something or other

  • @DeathMerchant13 Teens that are genuinly in love with Jesus will go to a one hour sermon and not have to play worldly games. Who are you trying to attract? Obviosly non Christian kids.

Jesus didn't need games to attract people or children to his sermons. Why do we?

  • Those teens need to expel a little energy before sitting and listening to the message. I find a nice physical game also brings the kids closer together in brotherhood through teamwork and friendly competition.

  • Because having some games involved is sometimes the only reason non-church youth come - and then they start to have a relationship with God they stay to learn about God and strengthen the relationship with God.

  • genius!

  • i'm doing this game with my group for sure! Thanks for posting this!

  • Maybe I'll do this with my students! Our floor is a carpeted, so it might still work.

  • its even more fun playing!

  • Makes me smile.

  • it's the coke bottle challenge!

  • what is it called??

  • what an interesting game..
