But there was one lesser known station that we listened to because they played more "up and comers", and also a lot of music that the other more mainstream stations didn't play. Can't remember their call letters. They were on air until 2:00am, and this was their sign-off song. Everytime I hear this song I'm a teen again, falling asleep to the doors. What an era!

Morrison was cool, but honestly only counted for 1/4 of the band. I find the piano (Manzarek) and slide guitar (Kreiger) combination to be one of the greatest in music. It's haunting, and gloomy, just beautiful.

My grandad died 2 weeks ago and we found some old 8mm movies in his attic. He went to Florida State, and one of his movies we just found is a miami concert with the doors, and the singer is drunk and gets arrested, and there is a bunch of weird chaos going on. My mom wanted me to look on you tube for something like it, but I dont see anything. We watched it on our projector, but we have to take it somewhere to get it converted somehow.Where would we take it?we want to put it on youtube

If it is what your suggesting, baaaah Question,is it the whole concert? and is it a home movie? if it is a relatively close shot you should compare it with the (Jim getting arrested) tube. Snaps! I cant remember the name right now. In this one jim is grabbed by two bulls, as he makes a (Whad' I do) face to the crowd. If the movie is an origional there may be a lot more than you could do with it than put it on you tube.$ kaching

Blake wrote a poem which said that "every night and every morn, some to misery are born, every morn and every night, some are born to sweet delight, some are born to endless night." Rimbaud wrote in " A Season in Hell", "monstrous city, endless night" Morrison adapted his lyrics to that concept...Morrison inherited the free death that Niezsche embraced. He was so far ahead of his time it was amazing.

SoldaSolutrea, I totally agree. I believe it was the whole band, obviously, and not just Morrison that made the Doors so unique. Honestly, the Doors are one of the most original bands I have ever heard. They were way ahead of their time. No other 60's music was so dark or deep.

I met the spirit of music." "End of the Night" was a song inspired by William Blake. "When the Music's Over" was a tribute to Friedrich's Nietzsche's book, "The Birth of Tragedy". Rimbaud's state of mind was Morrison's emotional mask. Norman O. Brown's interpretation of Nietzsche and Freud was the cement.

Given his personality and the philosophy that so imbued his lyrics and soul, Morrison old is far worse than Morrison dead. The irony is that Nietzsche celebrated the eternal life of the will and Morrison gave up his free will when he turned himself over to alcohol and become a subject to it. He wasn't ready to die in Paris but his will was broken and he was pre-destined to die in Nietzsche's tragic hero construct.. His acid trips on Jacob's roof top started it all after reading Blake.

@mauvetys Why do you think that is? What is it about all of these echo boomers and x generation kids who are so fascinated by his lyrics and the music? What is it? I was there in 1967 and saw them live three times. I was a Berkeley student and only had so much money to go to rock concerts. I have written a book and now await permission to quote from the Doors Music Company. It should be on Amazon in January. Ils étaient géniaux car ils avaient leur propre sytle original et reconnaissable dès les premières notes d'une chanson. Pour autant, ils ne se répétaient jamais et leurs compos restaient toujours singulières et différentes des unes des autres.

Morrison was cool, but honestly only counted for 1/4 of the band. I find the piano (Manzarek) and slide guitar (Kreiger) combination to be one of the greatest in music. It's haunting, and gloomy, just beautiful.

@SoldatSolutrea the lyrics are the thing that sets the band apart from anyone else therefore, no jim, no doors. granted robby ray and john all had valuable input into the music i just think that jim is more like half the band

the thing is they were all genius its odd because they didnt even realize their own mastery of music - they had no idea. But because they were so good and Jim was the frontman all we got was his aura
