  • if the amp had direct outs couldn't you just use that to get the exact sound of the amp?

  • I love the tone of your electric guitar in the intro song. What was used to achieve it?

  • How do you know how far away to place a condenser mic from the amp without damaging it?

  • 0:58 for edge of cone

    1:11 for center of cone

1:26 for halfway between edge and center of cone

1:44 for off-axis, mic at outside facing center

    1:59 for two mics

Thumbs up so people can quick compare!

  • Cheers! Great vid :) Last one was deffooo the best, i've used this technique using:

    SE 1000A Condenser Microphone

    SM47 Dynamic Microphone

    Marshall 50W Amp

    Ibanez SA series Guitar

    BOSS Multieffects Pedal

Cheers again for the great tutorial ;)

  • nice job man

  • If you can't get a good tone out of a Boogie Lonestar and Sennheiser e609/ Shure Sm57 you are in the wrong line of work. Kinda of a "point and shoot" situation.

    Sounds great! Nice Video.

  • What preamp and interface did you use for the mics?

  • center and the outside of the kewn? wtf you implying haha

  • Gotta watch phase with 2 tho, lining up both diaphragms of the mics correctly

  • putting the mic in the center of the cone doesn't make the sound "higher" it makes the tone "brighter".

  • geez.. my first thought was, what the hell is The Miz doing in this video.. :/

  • 2 mics sound the best to me :)

  • If you want good results, get two mics taht sound different and blend them, like the end of this video, i think that was the best tone he got.

  • all sounds the same to me...

  • @storminthedistance You obviously aren't a musician, then.

  • @storminthedistance Try some different speakers on your computer.

  • What mike is this ?

  • @bmanlance Looks like a sennheiser e606/609 or e906

  • How have you recorded your voice here?

  • @ianrkav I assume it's with camera audio.

  • @ForbiddenHaze Must be. All channels are going to camera audio:-) Thanks

  • The shirt your wearing looks like your head has roots. :P

  • what mic is that?

  • I have that same shirt lol

  • this is the mac ad I've always wanted to watch... instead of an ipod, a tele and a mesa lonestar

  • crap gear? have you ever heard of Andy timmons?...the mesa lonestar is one of the most beautiful amp on earth and the guitar is a fender telecaster...dont talk shit of things you ignore

  • lul wut?

if he had a rectifier and an ibanez then u may have been right.

  • you have so much to learn my friend

  • like what

  • about amps and gear...you cant say its crap without even knowing what are you talking about

  • but it looks and sounds like crap so............

  • yeah here dosnt sound good but trust me this amp has a creamy lead tone and the best clean on earth...look at andry timmons's demos

  • ew. i wouldn't buy an amp cuz of its clean tones..... but i guess thats just me.

  • @LordHines420 you don't give a shit about cleans? Oh I see, just another lame-ass metalhead, let him go

  • @LordHines420 guitars are meant for metal? whatever little boy

  • @LordHines420 yeah i'm sure metal is exactly what leo fender and les paul had in mind...

  • @LordHines420 dude. Guitars existed LONG before metal.

  • @LordHines420 what the fuck ? guitars excisted loooong before some crappy metal.

  • Look, It's the Miz!

  • What if you have a 2x12 amp. Where would you put the mic? Also, could I use a mic, like the Sm57, and put it directly into Garageband or Audacity? Thanks! 5/5

  • The mic placement is relative to the speaker itself, so just pick one of the two and apply the techniques. If you have an interface with a mic preamp, you would be fine to use an SM57 for recording.

  • @Btroisi13 you need atleast an external soundcard or a mixer.

  • @Btroisi13 buying recording software is well worth it mate, but you do need a good outboard to process the sound from the mics

  • I thought this green guy was a robot

  • good vid. Keeps it simple and keeps it moving

  • quality
