I liked that you knew where you wanted to start explaining something that you understand a lot. I thought you were making a lot of sense until you started talking about orbitals. Especially since you didn't talk about orbital shapes and direction or energy levels, I could see someone getting lost really easily, especially with energy levels since you start listing orbital orders. When you started talking about the difference between covalent and ionic bonds, you started to make sense again.

I find chemistry rather interesting but taking it in college...particuarly Organic Chemistry (the first part of it twice) caused a hatred of chemistry to grow in me. But I'm trying to go back to not hating it. :-P

I've got my Chem final on Tuesday. Thank you so much for inadvertently helping me review. Orbitals and Lewis Dot are part of my weakness, though molecular and bond polarity is my ultimate downfall. If you want to, I would definitely not mind you making a video on the types of reactions (combustion especially, I can never remember it).

I took chemistry until I left school and I really liked it. It was a tiny bit simpler than what you were talking about (we had "shells" instead of orbitals that filled differently) but I knew 90% of what you were saying. Yay me :D

The only thing I remember about high school chemistry.. is we made a mole.. a stuffed mole for some reason I never understood it was donated to charity though. Those poor kids had deformed stuffed animals pawned off on them. They were badly done.. being made by high school students and all. I found my love for science in college where I became a funeral director.

I thought this was a proper vlogbrothers video in my subscription box, I saw Hank's face and thought "he's educating John more about science". All I didn't know is about the whole SPDF thing, we're told that for GCSE all we need to know is the first "orbital" holds two, the second eight, the third eight and so on but our teacher says it is more colpicated but the questions we'll get in tests won't concern elements with more than about 20 or 25 electrons (i think)

It's funny how annoyed and irritated I recently was when I couldn't find something I did a few years back. We are all just so used to this giant network never losing anything and most of the time it storing more information than we actually want.
