The DS remake was schizophrenic between incredibly easy and impossible to counter. Some bosses did absurd amounts of damage in a single hit, and others die when you so much as sneeze at them. The final boss (and cerberus) were disproportionately harder than everything before them as well.
@Nachtprophet Not only that, but they changed the way the enemy AI worked. In the original game, the enemies you fought would choose their actions for the upcoming turn before the turn began, just as the player does in turn-based RPG's. In this remake, they made it so that enemies choose their actions immediately before executing them.
So when you've just raised a fallen character(so they're wounded)... and it seems like the enemy is purposely targeting them? It's because they are. >_<
@DvsDude7 Did ya fight the Iron Giant? Makes everything else in the game look like a cake walk. I barely beat it with my fully leveled group. An Onion Knight, Summoner, Sage and a Knight... the only ones left were the Onion Knight and Sage and we won by a hair.
@DvsDude7 Man it's the only Final Fantasy game I haven't completed! having no save points apart from the world map was complete madness. you'd level up as your going through dungeons but if you got killed by a boss you lost so much progress and have to redo it all again. I eventually lost my patience with it and starting playing something else = /
@yogan2 I hear you. 3 and 4 are the only ones I've played I haven't finished. I've found myself losing far in the dungeon so many times I eventually gave up too. Maybe I should try again. If I just grind in the beginning of the cave of Bahamut..
Anyway 4 is just as bad. After finally getting to the level appropriate for the giant, and beating the bosses, I find myself capable of killing every enemy, so I go to lunar subterrane. Monster ambush 2 dragons insta-kill... Only game even hard on lv.70
Dude, it's rocks!!

The original sent chills up my spine....

The DS remake is harder mostly because they could support less enemies per battle on that system so they gave ALL enemies more attacks per round.

@DvsDude7 Not really for me, but I tend to level grind like crazy when I'm bored or have nothing to do at night when I'm trying to sleep.
