The rulers of Burma have had to make a very difficult decision. Should they let in US military who have placed sanctions agains them and have been poised to invade for years or do they accept aid from trustworthy countries and refuse aid from those whos heart is in the wrong place, those who look upon this tragedy as an opportunity to invade and occupy. we have seen how once american trrops are in they will only secure the OIL wells and turn a blind eye to all else. Oh and they will never leave.
it seems like many people dont realise that we can't use the collective noun of 'burmese' cos they are divided : the citizens ( who are abused and poor ) and the ruling generals ( who are abusing the citizens and live like kings). citizens want democracy, human rights, education, food. Generals want violence, dictatorship, poverty, fear, power and control. it is the generals who are blocking the aid while the people are dying. whose side you are on (if you are a humane person)?
America couldn't help its poor victims of KATRINA but its making lots of noise to help Burma. Could it be due to the fact Burma is OIL and GAS rich ???
burma is selling its gas and oil to china, thailand and india right now anyway. burmese people have lost almost everything under the junta's exploitation that american's wont make a difference. as for me, i dont care what their intentions are later on. we need the aid for the cyclone victims right now to save lives. i hope everyone including the junta and the various foreign governments, can forget the politics , economics for a while and focus on humanitarian activities.
so you can ignore these people who are already ignored by their own military-led government or you can be the bigger and more humane one here and think about the people who want their lives back; that had been stolen from them since 1962 with the fall of the democratic government and the rise of the military regime. its your choice. if only we were still under demo. government, we might not even be desperately asking for help but under this uncapable government...... we do have to.
what are you talking about? you want the people to just wait and die? we need all the help we can get. the goverment is not helping us so we need help from any country who are willing to help us. please help us.
It is understandable why the Burmeese accept help from all except the USA.. They need help not an invation and occupation. Nobody cn blame them for not trusting the US with its naval fleet offshore and its sanctions against the people.
They are suffering but still have the dignity to hold out to American so called help. America has always wanted to get into Burma because it is OIL and GAS rich. America has a naval fleet nearbyand even placed sanctions upon Burma to pile on the pressure. america now sees this tragedy as a oppportunity to wind up the international community to justify a possible invasion
incorrect. people, ordinary citizens are suffering. the ruling elite is still sitting on the pile of gold and money they get from selling burma's resources. as always , the ruling junta never thought about the welfare of the people which is the reason while they didn't not make effective warning against the cyclone even though they knew it was coming. they didn't not want panic before the referendum. this is what bad government do: abusing its own citizens.
