Hi Trev, thanks for your support. I'm never offended by what anybody says (we must not give up on the freedom of people to express their feelings) but sometimes it is incumbent upon us all to address ignorance with enlightenment. I pity the ignorant, I always hope they will one day become reasonable and enlightened and a force for good in the world. Perhaps we will meet again through this medium, I'd like that. Meanwhile thanks once again, B.
@Borretski Don't waste your breath responding to harbingers of hate and misery like @3NUNS who is clearly disaffected and has no taste or sense of hearing.
In my mind Rubinstein will always one of the top 10 interpreters of music of all time and as a player precious few equal has level of skill.
So, NUNS x 3, I should have been at church that Sunday? Well Arthur Rubinstein says it all far better than all the preachers I've ever heard. (and that goes for the Archbishop too!) I am proud to be related to Arthur, who was an angel on Earth. A man blessed with an abundance of talent, who brought more joy into the hearts of more people than any mere preacher, and he will go on doing so through his wonderful legacy of recordings for milennia to come! (More than can be said for most preachers!)
My great idol !! I remember him playing the Scherzo and other works in a special recital on BBC TV. Filmed at the Fairfield Hall Croydon, without an audience on two consecutive Sunday evenings. The second performance consisted of three of his favourite concertos! These were accompanied by The LSO conducted by Andre Previn.
At the time Rubinstein was 88! His playing on both of these occasions was almost flawless, I have these on video. For his age, his speed and control were amazing.
absolutely divine! Indescribably profound interpretation. Sometimes God has mercy on us and sends us an angel. I have no doubt that Mr. Rubinstein has returned to that place. He was just here on loan.
Magnífico lirismo, genial encanto en los matices melódicos, una recreación indescriptible de la obra de Chopin, a sus 97 años en este video increíblemente bello, genial maestro Rubinstein. Sigo soteniendo que los genios no debieran morir...
Here the performance has gained wisdom and depth brought by the passing years. On the other hand there is something thrilling about his swashbuckling 30s recording despite some wild inaccuracies.
This is great piece!!! And Rubinstein played it with such passion!!!! BRAVO!!! Learned this piece last year and now I know where I went wrong with my playing!!!
Quel génie, la façon exéptionnelle de faire ressentire ses émotions, c'est extra-ordinaire !

I believe he played this in his 90s. Looks like he has no emotion from the outside, but his music says it all. I pay my respect.

I agree, Rubinstein was very technically healthy even at this age.
