Breathtaking performance! The mysterious "black & white" contrast is a powerful decision of the set - so complex in its simplicity. Raina's figure is the one and only Focus on stage. Her Elisabetta looks like a marble statue, created by a genial Sculptor - fragile and strong, monumental, but not still. A creation, that is ever vibrating - as a live string - and wherein all sounds and nuances infinitely melt into each other, then immediately burst and transform into new forms, every other moment.
I love this performance! I have this on dvd, and for me it proved Kabaivanska's control over this repitory. I will admit I was suprised, but in a good way very much so!
I can reply only citing Raina Kabaivanska. "If the artist thinks with the character's thought, then, the voice takes a precise vocal colour. Diffficulties that are insuperable dirung a rehearsel, on stage, in a magic way become surmountable. This is the power of the stage, the vigour that public transmits to the artist. This is the BELIEF in the character."
And could add that without this belief, any control over the repertoire is illusive.
INCREDIBLY
