  • Fun fact: The tall dancer is Jenna Elfman

  • ¥T

  • No shirt. Leather jacket. DAVE GAHAAAAAAAN

  • Simple Perfect Il <3 DepMod

  • Gore makes a perfect clown. Shows his playful side.

  • strongest SHOWMAN in the universe

  • Violator is in my top ten...

  • Mmmmm...Dave! This has always been a favorite.

  • @2:33 - best part :)

  • wow! I never knew that Jenna Elfman (Dharma on the tv show Dharma and Greg) was in this video!

  • @krissycat25 She actually was.

  • Pause @ 2:32, it's the girl from the show, Dharma & Greg.

  • Amazing!

  • i agree this band truly is amazing

  • @JediTheKnight she was on dharma and greg, also did a movie or 2 back in the late 90's

  • I like the pooring rain at the end of the video! And by the way who the hell is Jenna Elfman?

  • Funny that Dave is the "Strongest Man In The Universe" since 20+ years later they'd make Sounds Of The Universe. And I could tell this was an Anton Corbijn video by Alan and Andy crossing paths with signs, that's his style. :)

  • Check out an awesome remix called

Halo - The Strongest Mix in the Universe

  • "An Aching To Be Free"

  • P.S. <<<ha! I totally learned Jenna Elfman's and other chick's (sorry other chick!) dance moves. They were so good!

  • This whole video is awesome!!! Their sound is so dismal! But it's incredibly delightful! <3

  • The noise at the beginning sounds like someone brushing their teeth.

  • @tortuga388 lmao wtf

  • Song was released in 1988 on the Violator Album...I was 12 years old and loved it then. Sounds are just so amazing....better than all the crap I hear today.

  • I was in college then and purchased it and still have the CD!

  • @aznobewan Violator was released in 1990.

  • @aznobewan MFTM was 87-88. I still remember the day I bought the record (yes, the "vinyl album") and sat in my room as a young teen in high school listening to Violator, I was in tenth grade. Records sound better.

  • Did I mention I love guys in top hats. I'm so buying one for my boyfriend this Christmas!!!

  • This is my favourite song from DM. The lyrics are so powerful and straight forward. Martin Gore is a musical genius!

  • The only problem with Violator that it was too short. Sea of Sin, Dangerous, Happiet Girl, and Sibeling should have been added to the album. They could have come up with more good B-sides, especilally during that time with Alan, and Flood.

  • jenna elfman...

  • This video reminds me of a classic comic called Moonshadow.

  • I Love Violator!!! specially .....from World In My Eyes to Clean....

  • Since I first got Violator on cassette tape as an adolescent back in 90', Halo was one of my preferred tracks off of the album, which of course got repeated listens.

  • Collaboration like this comes around once in a lifetime...., be thankful it was in our's!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The most orgasmic 4 minutes and 30 secs of my life. I LOVE this song!!!! The entire Violator album is the Sweetest Perfection!!!

  • "You wear guilt....like shakles on your feet"....one of the greatest lyrics EVERRR:)

  • DM has enough hits to cover a 100 one-hit wonders

  • you wear guilt like shackles on your heart

  • LIKE A HALO IN REVERSEEEEEE

  • Had a girl like her once, I was too immature to see she was a better fit with someone else...

  • la strada by fellini featuring the great anthony quinn (martin gore plays that character here)

  • I always pictured the video for this being a US Army soldier falling for a Viet Cong girl. You can hear the military march in the beat. The story fits.

  • The tall dancer-girl is Jenna Elfman, believe it or not.

  • @MonsieurSavoirFaire yup, hottie

  • The song is about the mercurial nature of love. The music video is about itinerant circus performers competing for the affection of a female clown. Makes sense to me in a DM sort of way.

  • Instead of saying "Aloha," I should start saying "Haloha."

  • Nekode. - in my mind and heart today. To all those friends who know when I'm heading towards another psych ward stint for hypomania, or worse.

  • hahhahaha stupid Dave....<3

  • @natalieanne101 i mean cute little dave ;/

  • can't you see all loves luxuries are herefor you and me

  • A halo in reverse? how would that be?

  • @SergeSniper hmmmm

  • a halo in reverse? how would that be?

  • Lol,thats the dharma and greg chick at 2.32............

  • This has to be one of my most favs from Dm. I love, love, love the synths, especially toward the end., I'm a synth gal. Go Depeche Mode, Go. Love You Guys.

  • Lyrically the best song on that classic album.

I admit that this is the Violator song I most often sing.

  • @Vebinz The recorded this Album in 89 and it was released in Jan of 90. Glad you are a fan, me too. Big time

  • Hard to believe this is from the 80's, still a great song.

  • Troll

    I

    I

    V

  • good video.

  • Jenna Elfman supposedly appears in this video according to notes on Wiki.

I believe that if it is her, she is the taller of the two dancing girls found in the area of 2:45 into the clip.

  • Comment removed

  • ".. you wear guilt like shackles on your feet .." my favorite line

  • ummm depech mode... el simple nombre pesa. no es raro que incluso la cancion que se considera la mas devil de este disco sea una de las mas fuertes en el mundo del pop electronico a nivel mundial.

  • Incredible how THIS track could be the weakest single off of an album.

  • @theefincham

I think it is one of the best singles off the album.

  • @theefincham What? What were the other singles? This is my favorite...well, it goes back and forth between this and Enjoy the Silence...

  • @theefincham halo wasn't ever a single.

  • @theefincham xD. Halo is far from weak. You & 30 others are all smoking crack.

  • my favorite song too.!!

  • yeh i hate the commercials..! :p

  • How ever long the troubles we meet in our lives, in the end with you it will be worth it.

  • Love the Spooning at the end! Oh Gore you softie, you!

  • My all time favorite song, period...

  • I've been raping the repeat button big time!!!

  • Martin L. Gore has a special place in my heart. Love that mo' fo'!

  • Violator is the best Depeche Mode album ever did till this date. Don't you guys dare say other DM albums are the best, especially you Black Celebration people. If Violator came out in 1986, and if Black Celebration came out in 1990. You guys sayt Violator is the best, just cause its older.

  • @joseitsme

I agree it's better than "Black Celebration". I don't think people who like the latter are doing so ebcause it's older, since many of them utterly hate pre-"Black Celebration" works.

  • @Vebinz I love love both songs. I love this group to me they can do wrong

  • @valygrl1

I agree, my favorite band, though I admit to loving mostly their 80's work (first seven albums); the post-Violator stuff not as much. Too much rock influence.

  • 9 geeks thought they were going to play halo, now they left the remote, and started to listen to Depeche Mode.

  • Classic D-Mode sond and video, awesome!

  • I've been looking for this video for a long time. I saw it a couple years ago really early in the morning on MTV and didn't know what the song was called, all I knew was the video had to do with a circus and it was by Depeche Mode.

  • : TH3 FAC3 : THE FAC3 :

  • God, I don't know if this song is about a torrid affair or what, but I am down for it. Now I must meet a guy who fears sleeping with me and sing this to him. Should not be hard. I love you DM.

  • 8 Halo Players were mad they couldn't play in the Video

  • I honestly don't understand the "dislike" button. If someone doesn't like the song, why come here and listen to it??

  • 8 people shackled by guilt ......!?!

  • Probably my favorite Depeche Mode song ever!

  • my god I love this song

  • 8 people need to have the walls tumble in on them.

  • GREAT SONG, YOU CAN LISTEN THIS ONE OVER AND OVER AGAIN.

  • Video is good because it is awkward, best video since Strange Love (euro version).

  • wow!!!!! super

  • when our worlds theyy fall apartt when the wallss comee tumbling inn!!!

    qe buena rolaa

  • FACT: the tall dancer is Jenna Elfman from Dharma and Greg.

  • @detroitjeeper FACT: She was HAWT. Still is...

  • @speechtrain true true.

  • 8 people think real music is justin bieber.

  • was MARTIN GORE Kissing A MUTHAFUKKIN MAN IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS VIDEO?!?!?!

  • @HawksEyeView ,no it was a woman and besides that make up your mind gay or MF,can't be both!LOL!!! So what if he was ,are you homophobic??CHILL!!!

  • Violator, hands down, the best album ever!!!

  • This song is referenced in

    "I Fysche

    II Fysche

    Raw Fysche

    Gold Fysche"

who co-stars in this video and will be interviewed

Tuesday June 14 10amEST on SpirituallyRawDOTCOM

Thank you Martin Dave Fletch Alan for being so inspirational !!!!!!!!!!

  • Incredibly cheesy video for an incredible song

  • @NorthernMars almost all their videos are cheesy..but good music regardless

  • @NorthernMars Remember, it was the 80s. Most all videos then were cheesy.

  • @NorthernMars I know what you mean but it makes for interesting contrast.

  • @NorthernMars It is, though this song helped me out through some bad times.

  • @NorthernMars I respectfully disagree. Depeche Mode has a great style and uniqueness in their videos. This video really enhances this amazing song for me.

  • @jpapca Agree

  • @NorthernMars It may seem cheesy but Dave is oh so sexy in this! <3

  • @SuperSaladEaterz super sexy! so Yum.

  • @NorthernMars I think they do that on purpose to alot of their videos

  • 2:50 i burst out laughing haha. Great song

  • COD lol

  • youtube needs to just put in "Auto Repeat" button

ive been listenin to this same song for the past hour on repeat

ive pressed replay so many times that its getting annoying to have to do

long story short i LOVE depeche mode

    cheers

YOUTUBE PLEASE PUT IN AUTO REPEAT AND DOWN WITH THIS VEVO NONSENSE

NOBODY WANTS TO LISTEN TO COMMERCIALS BEFORE THEY HEAR EVERY SONG

  • @musikbox08 You COULD just buy it on Itunes for $1. Seeing as you're listening to it that much.

  • @berryvox1973 i dont got an ipod imma very poor and im leavin the country so there are more important things imma so lonely where i am and i need to be around my ppl

  • @musikbox08 I completely agree. I have no idea why they haven't implemented a repeat function. I've wanted to have one for years. The best you can do is make a playlist and put your song on it about ten times.

  • @CantStoptheRobot one day theyll catch on i just pray the Lord that YouTube remains free of charge yea theres the annoyin Vevo commercials but...in the least its still free to use and enjoy repeatrepeatrepeatrere

  • @musikbox08 put ''replay'' before the youtube in link ;)

  • @musikbox08 type in the word "repeat" in the url after the word, "youtube" but before the Period.

Trust me you'll discover something truly amazing.

  • @YumYums26 is that so....thanks for the tip

  • I wish I was Jenna Elfman. Lucky bitch.

  • Martin is so freaking adorable in the clown make-up. I ♥ him so much.

  • dave gahan, you sweet sweet piece of ass.

  • DM has the best video collection of any band ever.

  • @SuperIlluminaughty and the best MUSIC collection ever!! love your screen-name by the way..

  • @HeatherKirklandHowe I ran into some early Scientology acolytes in Boulder, Colorado years ago, probably 1977 or '78. They had a small suite of offices above the "Aristocrat" - a great Greek breakfast place on Walnut. On a whim I allowed myself to be taken upstairs, where they had an early "E-Meter" - which supposedly could determine ... something. I swear, it was nothing more than a couple of old orange juice cans wired together with an ohm meter! They were so cute back then!

  • Comment removed

  • @HeatherKirklandHowe I have always been puzzled by the attraction that Scientology seems to hold for performance oriented folk. Admittedly, I haven't done an exhaustive study of the subject, but my initial reaction remains - "WTF?" I mean, L. R. Hubbard was a fairly interesting guy, and he could sure churn out the pot-boilers and pulp novels, but a Religion? Really? Have you, in your journies, run into anyone who can explain the synergy?

  • @topcover2000 There are some very informative videos on the "church" and the Hollywood connection on YT.

Hubbard's goal when alive was to recruit celebrities to popularize, glamorize, and give credibility to Scientology as the belief system of the elite. New Scientology celebs were kept from the real motivations and inner workings of the church- they believed it was a philosophy to remove self limitations and negativity to excel in life.

  • @HeatherKirklandHowe

    Bodhi is Danny's nephew

  • Great video for spanking :)

  • ive watched this at least fifty times if not more by now

thank you thank you thank you for posting i found this song by accident on december 2 of this year and LOVE it but ive been listening to the mode since i's fourteen or so i am now currently 22.i listen to depeche mode CONSTANTLY fuck gaga this is REAL shit dude thank u for posting cheers aye

  • i'd rather fuck martin gore too

  • @xpeachyxful I like Depeche Mode because they actually have talent, so stop being a bitch Evelyn. Some people have an ear for real talent

  • I love the showgirl dance scene at 2:32

  • 2:48 is the best part with Dave's random smirk

  • Comment removed

  • me encanta esa cancion fan number one of depeche mode forever

  • Stupid Martin Gore finding "Somebody". Only a "Question of Time" until Dave Gahan recites the Policy of Truth" to that girl.

  • @Singingjacobus nice!

  • I really have to ask....what is the score of reality? A halo in reverse? AND IN YOUR HEAD ITS WORSE!!

  • i got this stuck in my head while i ws taking a standardized test yesterday. thanks A LOT depeche mode. luv them tho xD

  • Aside from Dave chastising the girl in the beginning, I never saw anything wrong with him in this video. She obviously thought that she was better off with Martin after that, but to cheat on Dave right before his eyes! How awful!

  • Why wasn't this GREAT SONG a single? Furthermore, why does it have a video to promote it?

  • best bands ever are Depeche mode,of course,Rammstein, andthe smiths, this song is beast too

  • Miracle Whip commercial before Depeche Mode. Something is wrong here.

  • I remember being 13 when this album came out. It left such an impression on me then and still now. Thank you mom and dad for having me born to live through such great period music. To the youth of today: I feel for you, that is why its important to check out these bands and start all over. Peace out.

  • WOW! THANKS YOUTUBE FOR PUTTING AN ADVERTISEMENT RIGHT SMACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THIS VIDEO, I REALLY DON'T GET TO SEE ENOUGH COMMERCIALS, PLEASE SHOW US SOME MORE!!!!

Seriously, YouTube? A minute into the song and you interrupt it to show a commercial for basketball shoes?

  • the most beautiful song ever.

  • the best band of new wave

  • @eduardshore ;) the best band ever!

  • @raynasabine

lmfao I love depeche mode too!

    There the best band ever!

  • I love this band so much. Who wants to go to their next concert with me the next time they go out on tour? Party! LoL.

  • the only violator mv that added nothing to the song:PP

  • That's it !! I'm putting Doc Browns DeLorean back together and going back.

  • This song drips sensuality

  • The first album I've heard from them was Violator back in 1991 but back then I didn't make the connection and realized those guys were Depeche Mode on the radio since back I time I didn't speak english. I was 13 back then.

It was util 1993 when I listened to "Walking in My Shoes" when they've got me completely now that I knew english at that time.

Decided to look into his history and then I made the connection to Violator.

I couldn't stop listen to them ever since.

    They rock...!

  • the first time that i heard them was in 1983 get the balance right in and i was17 y old ,since then i collect all they'r records (tapes, vinyl,cd's dvd's).if i got the chance i take my wife and kids to see them on concert and believe my in the year 2999 i will do the same ...thank you dm.

  • Those that don't like DM simply have the power to not watch them....don't ruin it for the rest of us......

They have an awesome sultry sound that is always profound in message......DM just has "it".....that's all there is too it!

  • i wanted to see if depeche mode is good band but i don't like it it's just my opinion

  • @XpeacheyXful check out Policy Of Truth. you might like that one.
