Band had very little success post Buckingham, who is a superior guitarist and singer. Stevie Nicks became very dependent on him to mold her songs and his riffs were sadly missed after 1987 when he jumped ship. He did not want to tour anymore but the band pressured him because of Fleetwood's bankruptcy.
@MrBlueSkyMrNight It was 1969. Fillmore West in San Francisco. Credence Clearwater Revival was playing Born on the Bayou. I was dancing with Janice. Born in 1936
Do the math people. How many hits did the McVies and Fleetwood have before Buckingham and Nicks joined the group? Then how many after? Yes, Songbird was a great conrtibution by Christine, and Buckingham was who they wanted, not Stevie. His contributions in guitar, writing, and arranging were probably the biggest factor in making the group great. .
alright we get it.... the band was named after the drummer... doesnt mean you gotta put the drum volume so god damn high it ruins the damn song... i feel like nails are goin in my head when i turn the volume up .... looks like il be the first thumbs down

@ThroughRock - I do agree that Fleetwood Mac is best with Nicks and Buckingham in it, don't get me wrong - but there is a reason why the name existed before the two were in the band. That was my point. Additionally, I will defend Christine McVie for having a great deal of talent, and the fact that Mick Fleetwood might have been the inspiration for the Muppet's Animal is just awesome in and of itself.
@ThroughRock this statement is not true, the seventies were difined by Christine Mcvie, her awesome voice, lyrics. She is just verrrrry different than Stevie. Stevie is the Libra, Christine is the earthy Virgo lol No I'm not a hippy, just stevie is mystical and glamorous and Christine is earthy, solid. Even lindsay said that was competion to have songs played on the album, all memembers contributed...
@cubswin3838 Yeah seriously! She's really underrated, Christine.. Although I've heard just the one album (no prizes for guessing which), I just love "You Make Lovin' Fun".. I'd put that just behind Go Your Own Way as the second best song of the record.
@longlostgus Love this one too :) First song on the first Mac album to feature Lindsey and Stevie. Such a strong opener. Great way to begin the band's new era!
@chissykim wow, i keep learning so many things about FM, I realized that my whole life has had one of their songs in every part of it. the seventies, eighties and forever....

@cubswin3838 Songbird is one of the most beautiful songs ever written, and she did it solo accompanied by herself.

The group should have been named "Bucking Nicks." These two were the strongest of the four.
talma16 5 months ago
@talma16 The group existed before Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks and existed after they left, so.. yeah.
wesgrogan 5 months ago
@wesgrogan Buckingham and Nicks are the only ones in the band with talent. The other three... pfff, totally mediocre.
Let's face it: Fleetwood Mac is an American band. The two best members are American and the other three are like backup musicians.
