...It's not fucking overpriced. Why? simple answer. All the computer is behind the screen built in a single titanium "block" wich is not assembled, it really is a SINGLE piece of Metal/titanium. And after using it for 5 years, it still has value, you could still sell it for a good 800$ if it costs you 1500$. With a PC, crappy plastic assembled pieces, (could just kick the machine with my boots and it would break) and after 5 years you couldn't sell it for a good price because of it's crappy che
The only reason why you people say PCs are better is just for fucking Gaming. You know, Mac isn't necessarily made for Gaming, it's much like simple and a WorkingTool. I mean, just compare both interfaces. PC is so fucking annoying on that one, it's hard to figure out where things are due to the ugly interface on it. On Mac it's just so simple, even just searching something on your computer is quicker. Can't explain all my thoughts, but let's move to another point...
The day that Apple allows for use of Mac OSX on ANY computer (why would anyone want to do that?) I will give them some credit. The fact is, these are the guys that actually charge money to let their users TEST beta OS stuff. Could you imagine how kick ass a computer would be if Microsoft built their own PC to go with Windows? If you choose to use Mac OS over Windows, you are doing it because you are a Fan-boy or you are really, really stupid. My Crapple runs Win7 better than Mac OS.
It's a classic case of bait-and-switch, in legal form. Apple doesn't allow OSX to be run on any other computer because that's not where they make their money. By forcing it on a Mac, the customer must actually buy a Mac. Everyone knows that Apple price-gouges severely for horrendously underpowered hardware configurations, and marks up RAM and Hard Drives by about 5 times their cost. If OSX was allowed to run on any system, the Mac line would die tomorrow.
@wweallshows My PC cost me $1500. Now, I COULD have gone out and bought a Mac for that amount of money, but I wanted a computer that actually had some decent specs. So I bought a PC with Windows 7, and I now dual boot with Ubuntu Linux.
Buying a PC rather than a Mac is not a matter of being poor. It's a matter of being an intelligent shopper.
Are you surprised that your expensive luxury Mac can't beat a PC that costs up to $1000 less? Then what did you spend all that money for? Just to say you did?
@ProfOmnom I'm watching it on my Mac too, because I just can't see letting all that money go to waste. At least it can do the simple things. People like to note these videos are old, but at this point, Win 7 is rendering the Mac useless. With my corporate Tech workstation, we have 5 Win7 devices in the house. Over the past two years, one of them has crashed 1 time, that is ONE time. My Macbook Pro, which I use because it is really cool (so they say) crashed two times last week.
Wise words, and I commend you for admitting the truth instead of hiding your head in the sand like so many others. I too have nothing really against Macs per say, but Apple makes them out to be dream machines with no issues, when in fact they're just as prone (or worse) as PCs are. The decaying security of Mac OSX has me extremely worried for the Mac community as Apple's popularity grows.
@ProfOmnom Oh yeah, we use the Mac for all our iPhones and iPods. It is no secret that the early releases of iTunes were designed to run better on Apple devices than PC's, even the functionality is different. It is just Jobs' ghost, continuing mission of "if you are going to do it, you are going to do it my way and you are going to love it"
Then I suppose the book "Enterprise Mac Security: OSX Snow Leopard" was written by Apple's own infrastructure employees for.......what? The fun of it?
There's a difference between being unable to afford something, and refusing to pay a significantly higher amount of money for a lesser-powered product. There is no denying Apple's ridiculous price tags. Just check their upgrade costs. Unfathomable! There are many in the world who know when they're getting ripped off, and refuse to take it. "A fool and his money are soon parted." If you blindly spend money, you will lose it quickly.
@MaestroDraven that is true, but you aren't only paying for a lesser powered product. you're paying for the high quality, engineering, design that stands out from others, ease of use, and of course Apples own Operating System
High quality? Untrue. Any company that sells 1 Mac for every 100 PCs is obviously going to conjure the illusion of better quality. No different than the homicide rate between Canada and the U.S. Canada appears lower, but the ratio of killings per capita is roughly the same. As for aesthetic design, I fail to see how that factors into workflow. Are aesthetics worth an extra $700 to $1000 to you? As for OSX, it's no better than Windows 7. Not by a long shot.
If you don't believe me, then why are Macs the most notoriously exploitable machines around right now? OSX is to blame, with virtually no security which has been proven for the last several years, without any evidence to the contrary. It can't keep up with Windows 7 at peak rendering and intense workloads, so again, I fail to see what you're paying more for. OpenCL and GCD? They were buzz words for all of 15 minutes. You'll notice they're barely mentioned anymore.
I had to use a Mac during my art course. The school only had them, and believe me- I was -this- close to throwing it out a window. I'd never experienced so many Photoshop crashes and freezes in all my life.
It is interesting to note that Apple only recently received 64-bit Photoshop support. I agree, it's not the optimal platform for graphic design. I remember a job I took a few years back, managing a graphic department. I was astounded to see them all using Macs because apparently,"they needed them." I sold the Macs, built an army of custom high-powered PCs, saved the company thousands in upgrade costs, and fired 2 out of the 5 artists who refused to switch.
I can say I've owned 10 macs and notebooks, none of them really got my eye for an interest however I do have an iPhone
But no matter what I'd still choose a PC, reason being is I cannot update a Mac, do I buy and buy and I hate and hate, the only thing I've really liked is I cannot hack a Mac, fucking things are not meant to be tampered with, and I work with macs, pc's, and Linux every day and still a Mac is the only thing I cannot hack, so I choose a PC
@RTWdude there not as good as PC's , people just don't know how bad macs are, mac just look good, and don't do much for you, but PC's just as good but Better than Macs, just saying xD
u are so gay !!! pc vs mac ... u mean windows vs mac !!!! windows is pc and mac is a personal computer too !!! how can u say personal computer vs mac !!!!?!?!?!?!
There's nothing wrong with a Mac. From a build standpoint, it's a fine computer that makes good use of what power it has. However, you overpaid for it, and you are bound to Apple's strict way of doing things. You do not "own" a Mac as much as Apple has "allowed you to use it."
Another stereotypical video dissing 10 year old macs. I've been using my Mac for a long time and it still works much better than my already broken (younger than my mac) PC.
You will find just as many, if not more PC people whose computers have lasted them far longer than that. My last PC build went 7 years before it finally couldn't tackle the newest software and hardware. I sold it to a friend who is still enjoying it 2 years later. That's a 9 year lifespan without so much as a hiccup. The reason you see more PC issues is because the PC sells more in comparison to Mac. If you sold 1,000 Macs and 10,000 PCs, clearly you'll see more PC issues.
I love using macs, i used one for about a year, theyre great for editing, browsing, etc. Theyre fast and sleek but just overprices. I recently build my own gaming pc for half the price of a mac, and the parts insode are 10x better. Ridiculous.
@Liairsoft1 I doubt you built a computer that 10x better for half the price. The price for a processor alone for the best intel is $800, then a "10X better" hard drive (we go with solid state because of the 10x assertion) will be around 800, motherboard another 150-200 plus casing and display, another 200-400. Plus some good RAM-150. So I paid 1350 for my refurb'd 20011quad-core macbook pro. A pc that is spec'd better and you build yourself will run about 2500. Not half. Oh and i have OS X :)
@shanesaurusrex "So I paid 1350 for my refurb'd 20011quad-core macbook pro. A pc that is spec'd better and you build yourself will run about 2500."
Um, no. It would run more like $1800. And you got off lucky, by getting a used system. Try buying brand new and THEN make that argument. Wait, you can't. Because that is simply impossible.
Priced new to new, a PC will give you better specs for the money every time.
Oh, and anyone can run OSX on any system, if they know how =P
@AndrewDeLong But my friend got and HP envy (17" though) and his ran about 2100, and the specs are pretty much equal. Given yes, my MBP is refurbished but Im just saying if you know how to work Apples deals (the term deals being loosely used) you can come out pretty much equal. To me OS X and iLife are worth the little bit extra that you pay. And yes :) I made a Hackintosh out of my moms G72 but Lion just doesn't do well with a PC :p
That's an insanely inaccurate pricing comparison, my friend. My home PC is an i7-950 Quad Core with 8 threads, 12GB of 2000MHz DDR3, a GTX580 video card, twin 24" LED ML238 monitors, an X-Fi premium sound card, a Rampage III Gene Motherboard, a 64GB SSD and a 2TB SATA drive, and the whole thing came to $1500 dollars. I can sincerely tell you that your Macbook wouldn't manage a tenth of what this machine is capable of.
@MaestroDraven Thats a desktop, I added up all the components (from new egg, amazon etc. and yeah its like 1700 (Im sure you got some deals on the parts.) But as a desktop of course its going to have much better specs. Now I can get a iMac and make it just as dirty for a bit more than that (apple tax yeah). And I would hope my MPB wouldn't be as fast as your desktop. So, hows the warranty? :)
@AndrewDeLong Yes, brand new Mac vs PC hardware to hardware would be to the PCs advantage every time. b
Then look no further than the ASUS U-Series laptops which offer 10-12 hour battery life (as opposed to the Macbook's 7 hours), triple the hardware power, and a cost less than that of any Macbook. If you want to talk warranty, then certainly! ASUS' warranty has been proven to beat Apple's hands down. Compare them if you don't believe me. Either way you slice it, ASUS has been a silent Apple-killer for years, and years. The new Zen-series laptops are proof of this.
@NathynKelly Cool, no one ever said Macs were a great value. Now tell me, was this pre-built? Hows the construction of the case and other amenities? Hows the software? Hows the warranty? Hows the customer service? The trackpad and screen? What special features does it have? Which operating system did you install and how much did it cost? How good is the ram? Is it one of those cheap brands? How fast is the ram? Im guessing its an AMD processor, which are a great value but inferior to intel.
because they try hoax you in to thinking their product is good by using high numbers like 8-core, well guess what intels quad-cores beat amds octo- core in almost all of the benchmarks and are only $20-60 more so the little extra money helps allot so no its not amd
@Liairsoft1 Not trying to troll, just saying if you buy a brand new mac then yes. They are overpriced for the hardware. But the software in my opinion is unmatched and worth the apple tax. Also, theyre just so good looking!
@shanesaurusrex Sorry, but paying, on average, an extra $500 to $1000 for a Mac with the same or lesser specs of a PC is NOT WORTH the base package software that Apple offers. iMovie and iLife are hardly worth it, especially when I can get an open source version for free on Ubuntu, and an equally solid OS through Win 7.
IMHO, all you're really paying for with that extra $500 to $1000, is a glowing apple with a bite taken out of it.
@Liairsoft1 Yeah, if we were all virgins who had no lives then we'd have time to build our own computers. However, many people, like myself, in fact DO have lives, and prefer the best of quality when it comes to computers. This is why I purchased a mac, because I like to have sex with women.
You seriously don't have 1 hour to put a computer together? Research Apple's history of class action lawsuits for their poor quality control on iMacs and Macbooks, plus their very bad reputation for not honoring warranty agreements, and you'll quickly begin to see that you've been duped like so many others.
@MaestroDraven Ive not had any of those problems. Tons of companies have bad reputations for "honoring warranties" just give corporate a ring and chew them out, works every time. And "1 hour to put a computer together" not everyone has the expertise or the steady hands to do that.
Nobody learned how to do anything without practicing. Steady hands aren't needed, just a sense of what goes where. Build 1 computer and you're set for life. It's a great learning experience and very educational. As for warranties, you're probably right....but Apple seems far less willing to admit its problems than their competitors. They haven't admitted to a screwup in over a decade......despite a plethora of them.
Having built plenty of computers in my time, I can safely say that unless you're all thumbs or chronically clumsy, there's no way you're going to snap a RAM stick out of a socket. As for your personal experience, that's great. Many people praise Toyota despite 18 million (and counting) recalls, so how exactly does that prove a company's reliability and worth?
Keep in mind that I'm not speaking of dealing with the Apple store. The "corporate ring" as you call it doesn't exist. This is straight from Apple's head office.....hence class action lawsuits. Everything from lying about battery life, to defective iMac screens to dying Macbooks.....it's all on record and very easy to find info about it.
@MaestroDraven What do you mean "corporate ring?" I said give corporate a ring, meaning call corporate on your telecommunications device. Yes Apple has their faults, Microsoft has covered stuff up to, and Dell- especially with their construction, even on the Alienware laptops that Dell makes. Now, with all of this "Mac sucks" crap, why is it that I prefer using my "less powerful" MacBook Pro over my moms HP Envy? If they suck so bad (Im not talking to you as you have been plenty respectful to me
@shanesaurusrex If they suck so bad why have I had nothing but great customer service and a great computing experience? I know some of the older non-sandy bridge MBPs had heating issues but I haven't so I can't speak to that. My friend can though, his has not had any issues. So I think you should use what you want and have done with it.
That's exactly what I'm saying. There is no "corporate ring" because corporate makes the decisions on what to refuse. Do you think they're going to change their stance for you? That's why class action lawsuits occurred. They said it to far more than just one person. Research Apple's class action lawsuits. There's plenty of them and the information is dead easy to find.
@MaestroDraven 1. I said snap a RAM stick OR knock things out of sockets- RAM is surprisingly fragile. I haven't had these issues but I know people who have; yes they are butterfingers.
2. Not "corporate ring" GIVE corporate A ring- as in CALL them on a PHONE.
3. The class action lawsuits to which you refer are goofy things like a lady thats mad because her iPhone 3G doesn't run iOS 4 as well as an iPhone 4. Thats like having a Droid 1 and suing because it doesn't run ICS as well as a Droid 3
@shanesaurusrex Yes Apple has had their troubles like the "antenna issue" on the iPhone 4- I havent had this problem but it was resolved with free bumpers. Kind of like the Xbox 360's red ring of death. Or dells that caught on fire. All companies have problems. I think that people enjoy trolling on Apple and thats fine if they want to. I haven't had any problems with them at all however.
I agree 100% with you. All companies have problems, BUT.....Apple acts like a snotty rich kid looking down at everyone else. That's my point. They aren't any better than anyone else. Their hardware can misfire. Their software has holes in it. Their performance isn't lightning fast, and....they can get viruses. That's the issue. I don't mind if a company has problems, but bragging arrogantly about superiority is going to fetch you a backlash.
@MaestroDraven I think they do have a superiority complex but I think its over exaggerated. We will see if this changes in response to the growing security threat. -As I posted on that other vid.
Macs do indeed get viruses. And malware. And rootkits. And they're the most vulnerable hacking attacks. Pwn2Own, Defcon and Black Hat prove all. Macs are the most notoriously insecure computers on the market. Instead of listening to Apple, who has a track history of bold-faced lies, try looking elsewhere for your information. McAfee recently reported that Mac viruses are increasing at a rate of 10% per MONTH. So yes, they do get viruses.
1. I think snapping RAM out of a socket is something that anyone could possibly do if they're just not being careful. Traditional RAM may be fragile, but look at the RAM OCZ and Corsair sell. It's extremely strong.
2. I know what you mean :) I get it. But all I'm saying is, calling corporate doesn't matter because they make the rules.
3. Yes, those lawsuits exist, but reference the 2008/2009 lawsuits against iMacs and Macbooks for terrible build quality.
Why is everyone so stupid as to believe that a Mac and Linux arn't PC? A PC is a personal computer, not an OS. Mac, Linux, and Windows all run on PCs. If Mac opposes PCs, it opposes itself.
@45678ret ru serious mac has changed the entire computer indusrty notice it take multipul companies to compete with mac but mac only take one company and there is a amazinnggg size difference so much smaller and they look sooo mmuch more cleaner and the software is sooo much more user friendly and macs are verrrrry hard to get a virus
@DJayJTK well since you can't spell i say retarted but that's just my opinion, and all computer companies compete with each other idiot they don't all gang up on mac, and so what if macs are smaller a pc is much better than a laptop, and looks don't matter you probably got a mac because you thought OOOOHHHH SHINY! and the software is not user friendly because it's basic and you can't edit it to your desires, and i haven't gotten a virus for years on my pc because i'm not an idiot
Ummm, all those multiple PC companies build their computers using precisely the same hardware components that go into Macs, my friend. Check your hardware stats. Apple doesn't own Intel, Nvidia or ATI. They rely on Samsung for their LED screens. Apple hasn't changed the computer industry at all, that's the problem. While Apple continues to overcharge for obsolete hardware, the PC world keeps moving forward with massively powerful technology, and doesn't even bother looking back.
Guess who is not going to buy a mac this year ........ME!

OVOX0 1 month ago
@OVOX0
MaestroDraven 1 month ago in playlist Mac vs PC
@MaestroDraven that is true, but you aren't only paying for a lesser powered product. you're paying for the high quality, engineering, design that stands out from others, ease of use, and of course Apples own Operating System
OVOX0 1 month ago
@OVOX0
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@OVOX0

BusinessDog2000 1 month ago
@BusinessDog2000

There's nothing wrong with a Mac. From a build standpoint, it's a fine computer that makes good use of what power it has. However, you overpaid for it, and you are bound to Apple's strict way of doing things. You do not "own" a Mac as much as Apple has "allowed you to use it."

TheYetiNinja 3 months ago
@TheYetiNinja
MaestroDraven 3 months ago
I love using macs, i used one for about a year, theyre great for editing, browsing, etc. Theyre fast and sleek but just overprices. I recently build my own gaming pc for half the price of a mac, and the parts insode are 10x better. Ridiculous.
Liairsoft1 3 months ago 59
@Liairsoft1 I doubt you built a computer that 10x better for half the price. The price for a processor alone for the best intel is $800, then a "10X better" hard drive (we go with solid state because of the 10x assertion) will be around 800, motherboard another 150-200 plus casing and display, another 200-400. Plus some good RAM-150. So I paid 1350 for my refurb'd 20011quad-core macbook pro. A pc that is spec'd better and you build yourself will run about 2500. Not half. Oh and i have OS X :)
shanesaurusrex 2 months ago
@shanesaurusrex "So I paid 1350 for my refurb'd 20011quad-core macbook pro. A pc that is spec'd better and you build yourself will run about 2500."
Um, no. It would run more like $1800. And you got off lucky, by getting a used system. Try buying brand new and THEN make that argument. Wait, you can't. Because that is simply impossible.
Priced new to new, a PC will give you better specs for the money every time.
Oh, and anyone can run OSX on any system, if they know how =P
AndrewDeLong 2 months ago
@AndrewDeLong But my friend got and HP envy (17" though) and his ran about 2100, and the specs are pretty much equal. Given yes, my MBP is refurbished but Im just saying if you know how to work Apples deals (the term deals being loosely used) you can come out pretty much equal. To me OS X and iLife are worth the little bit extra that you pay. And yes :) I made a Hackintosh out of my moms G72 but Lion just doesn't do well with a PC :p
shanesaurusrex 2 months ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 2 months ago
@MaestroDraven Thats a desktop, I added up all the components (from new egg, amazon etc. and yeah its like 1700 (Im sure you got some deals on the parts.) But as a desktop of course its going to have much better specs. Now I can get a iMac and make it just as dirty for a bit more than that (apple tax yeah). And I would hope my MPB wouldn't be as fast as your desktop. So, hows the warranty? :)
@AndrewDeLong Yes, brand new Mac vs PC hardware to hardware would be to the PCs advantage every time. b
shanesaurusrex 2 months ago
@shanesaurusrex

Im guessing its an AMD processor, which are a great value but inferior to intel.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago

it was not amd i hate amd
because they try hoax you in to thinking their product is good by using high numbers like 8-core, well guess what intels quad-cores beat amds octo- core in almost all of the benchmarks and are only $20-60 more so the little extra money helps allot so no its not amd
NathynKelly 1 week ago
@NathynKelly
I don't know about that. AMD's new 8-Core CPUs leapfrogged by 89% in performance tests vs. the most powerful server CPUs in the industry.
MaestroDraven 1 week ago
@Liairsoft1 Not trying to troll, just saying if you buy a brand new mac then yes. They are overpriced for the hardware. But the software in my opinion is unmatched and worth the apple tax. Also, theyre just so good looking!
shanesaurusrex 2 months ago
@shanesaurusrex Sorry, but paying, on average, an extra $500 to $1000 for a Mac with the same or lesser specs of a PC is NOT WORTH the base package software that Apple offers. iMovie and iLife are hardly worth it, especially when I can get an open source version for free on Ubuntu, and an equally solid OS through Win 7.
IMHO, all you're really paying for with that extra $500 to $1000, is a glowing apple with a bite taken out of it.

Ajoehify 1 month ago
@Liairsoft1 Yeah, if we were all virgins who had no lives then we'd have time to build our own computers. However, many people, like myself, in fact DO have lives, and prefer the best of quality when it comes to computers. This is why I purchased a mac, because I like to have sex with women.
STEVEyoooo 1 month ago
@STEVEyoooo
You seriously don't have 1 hour to put a computer together? Research Apple's history of class action lawsuits for their poor quality control on iMacs and Macbooks, plus their very bad reputation for not honoring warranty agreements, and you'll quickly begin to see that you've been duped like so many others.
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Ive not had any of those problems. Tons of companies have bad reputations for "honoring warranties" just give corporate a ring and chew them out, works every time. And "1 hour to put a computer together" not everyone has the expertise or the steady hands to do that.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven Steady hands are in fact needed, it really isn't hard for a clumsy person to snap their RAM or knock stuff out of sockets.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven What do you mean "corporate ring?" I said give corporate a ring, meaning call corporate on your telecommunications device. Yes Apple has their faults, Microsoft has covered stuff up to, and Dell- especially with their construction, even on the Alienware laptops that Dell makes. Now, with all of this "Mac sucks" crap, why is it that I prefer using my "less powerful" MacBook Pro over my moms HP Envy? If they suck so bad (Im not talking to you as you have been plenty respectful to me
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex If they suck so bad why have I had nothing but great customer service and a great computing experience? I know some of the older non-sandy bridge MBPs had heating issues but I haven't so I can't speak to that. My friend can though, his has not had any issues. So I think you should use what you want and have done with it.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven 1. I said snap a RAM stick OR knock things out of sockets- RAM is surprisingly fragile. I haven't had these issues but I know people who have; yes they are butterfingers.
2. Not "corporate ring" GIVE corporate A ring- as in CALL them on a PHONE.
3. The class action lawsuits to which you refer are goofy things like a lady thats mad because her iPhone 3G doesn't run iOS 4 as well as an iPhone 4. Thats like having a Droid 1 and suing because it doesn't run ICS as well as a Droid 3
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex Yes Apple has had their troubles like the "antenna issue" on the iPhone 4- I havent had this problem but it was resolved with free bumpers. Kind of like the Xbox 360's red ring of death. Or dells that caught on fire. All companies have problems. I think that people enjoy trolling on Apple and thats fine if they want to. I haven't had any problems with them at all however.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven I think they do have a superiority complex but I think its over exaggerated. We will see if this changes in response to the growing security threat. -As I posted on that other vid.
shanesaurusrex 1 month ago
@MaestroDraven mac never get virus i don't know who told you that but they never ever do. pc does but not mac, EVER
Julin2Dominican 1 month ago
@Julin2Dominican
MaestroDraven 1 month ago
@shanesaurusrex

45678ret 3 months ago
@DJayJTK
