  • The Incredibles has a solo in "Saving Metroville" where Wayne Bergeron belts out a double C

  • 1th disliker

  • Finally, a video with over 10,000 views and no dislikes!!!!!!

  • i always love these screaming trumpet solos. i can only hope to ba able to pull one off one day ^^

  • how 'bout some of the sound track work for the original run (not the remakes) of Johnny Quest - especially the closing theme also the sound track from "The Mambo Kings" is loaded with great sounds !

  • "Otherwise normal", haha good one

  • Maynard Ferguson would be #1.

  • I watch this when I need motivation to practice

  • Thank You for Posting the Gauntlet! I remember seeing this as the movie of the week on TV. Mom and Dan didn't get why I was more excited over the soundtrack than the movie.

  • guess you could put maynard for "gonna fly now" too his version was way better

  • For Love or Country: The story of Arturo Sandoval...

a lot of screaming trumpet solos there..

  • maynard ferguson is one of the greats along with allen vizzuti and doc severinsen.

  • The Gauntlet is like sketches of spain by Miles Davis

  • Cat is my favorite with Ingram behind of course. Mendez was also terrific. Honestly, I know its blasphemy and I have had this convo quite a few times but I have never liked Maynard's playing all that much. The constant shaking annoys me and its more showy than cat's screeching.

I wonder if someone has put up a similar thing for best trumpet soundtracks? Not just high note stuff but trumpet heavy movies. I would vote for Sugar Hill with Blanchard playing throughout. Spike Lee used trumpets alot

  • I've heard Maynard play better

  • What are you talking about? Rocky is ALWAYS FIRST!!!!!

  • As usual, the music is better than the movie and the musicians better than the acting. Like Cat Anderson playing above the total crap movie Anatomy of A Murder and over rated Jimmy Stewart delivering those stupid movie lines. If only he could've mumbled more then we could hear more trumpet. The Guantlet was pretty good though, I forgot about the great trumpets in that scene. Thanks for posting.

  • Go Clint Eastwood?:) And Wayne of course. :)

  • faddis is magic...

  • How about James Bond when they have screamers?

  • @stradivarius151 Derek Watkins! :-)

  • Of course they are all pre 80's

    Very nice thanks

  • @gplus46 Nowadays composers just throw in loud huge low brass stuff. Can't complain since I'm a trombone player myself, but it would be nice to get a few solos like this back into movies these days.

  • @MadSceve You must have skills

Hey here's another, Rosemary's Baby, during the scene when she's trying to run from them in the elevator.

    The solo is sick.

  • wayne bergeron's solo was the most epic in my opinion:)

  • CAT ANDERSON IS A BEAST. I KNOW YOU HEARD THAT SQUEKIN HE DID AT THE END. RIDICULOUS

  • Great trumpet solos on "Blood in, Blood out" And Rocky 3 when he trains for the first fight.

  • you should check out 101 dalmations 2. Its ridiculous!! The whole movie is screaming trumpets

  • There was a sequel to the French Connection?

  • "otherwise normal" LOL are you saying trumpeters are not normal?

Great vid, thanks for taking the time

  • They are all very impressive (I agree with the others the the Incredibles should be included), but for my money I'd have to put the Cat Anderson clip at the top. Waynard is just amazing for his cleanliness, but I enjoy that Jon Faddis clip musically (the whole score is awesome, watch the movie!). Now I have to go watch Anatomy of a Murder, excuse me.

  • wonderful

  • I hear them tbones doing there thang on Maynards...I think I hear horns to..I think...

  • maynards crap was annoying

  • Yes it does! The movies on this clip.

  • I mean, it's Disney/Pixar, it really doesn't get more Hollywood than Disney...does it?

  • 1:08 who's pulling who? amirite?

  • Love this! I say, leave out the movies and let's just have the trumpet players

  • Doc Severinsen is still one of the greats. I remember reading a quote from him in Maynard's book" MF HORN". Upon hearing Maynard warming up before a gig in Ontario, Canada he said; "I don't know why I kept playing after that".

  • These guys are from the "Doc Severinsen" school of "see how high and loud I can play."

  • It's actually the Maynard school.

  • The next time I involve myself in a SWAT standoff, I'll be sure to pack my trumpet along

  • @DancingSpiderman

@ 6:05 I never did like Pauly anyways.

    Fuck Pauly.

  • nice,,jux one question. how do yu think of somthing lik dhis.lmao

  • @agbulmer To ask this question... your obviously not a trompetist ^^

  • @amergoth well to to make a comment so arrogant, you obviously an asshole.

  • @agbulmer My appologies, I didn't mean to be rude. Its simply that trompetist are known to have a big ego when it comes to Screaming ;) (and this is not an insult either). My comment was meant to be some kind of musicien inside joke however my english skills are so bad it probably look like an arrogant comment as you said. Thanks for reminding me Im an asshole. I apreciate that.

  • @amergoth that explains y you spelled trumpet(trompet) wrong.

  • Great Post, love them all.

  • Crazy stuff, Faddis ripped!

  • Cat Anderson was WAY before his time!

  • Wayne says that solo was suggested in the studio by Stallone himself, who wanted to know if someone could play "the Maynard solo" over the suite. There were some differences in key and meter, but basically Wayne figured it out on the spot.

In my opinion, that is some of Faddis' most interesting work, and I told him so once. I also mentioned that it was a pity that the soundtrack was out of print, and asked him if he had heard whether it would be reissued, to which he replied, "How the fuck should I know?".

  • sounds like Faddis to me

  • AHHHHH!!!! THAT WUZ DA SHIT!!!

  • You left out The Incredibles...that movie had amazing screaming throughout.

  • Most definitely

  • @Quyntarious Is that hollywood?

  • @Quyntarious The Incredibles has a lot of fantastic lead trumpet playing but no real solos.

  • @SpiroAgnu @Quyntarious that was wayne begeron on the incredibles sondtrack fellas.

  • Loads of fun. I agree on "The Incredibles". Also, not so great a film, or a song (not even close to the Ellington), but the "Theme to LA's Team" entrance from "The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh" featuring Doc Severinsen was a gas (go to the end if you can't stomach the disco). Also, who hit those double octaves on the opening to Bob Balaban's very sick ca. 1988 flick "Parents"?

  • @staxjohnson The tune over the opening credits of Parents is Cherry Pink and Apple Blossom White, a Perez Prado recording from the 50's. The Fish that Saved Pittsburgh was something I never heard of, so I just checked it out (someone else has already posted it on youtube). Doc sounds amazing in it, really great.

  • @Quyntarious Yea I loved the incredibles trumpet theme!!!

  • @Quyntarious i actually got to meet the lead trumpet player for the incredibles

  • GO WAYNE!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @kdkn92 He admittedly is an absolute monster, but i still stick by maynard and faddis for having more interesting styles. Wayne is a machine but faddis puts on a show and has a really slick sound

  • Makes me miss stuff from the Can Brass and Fred Mills. Not as much a screamer, but from what I've seen (and heard from my prof), he was amazing.

  • This makes me want to go see that new Chazz Palmatari/Paul Sorvino movie, Distracting Trumpet.

    hahaha

  • Really awesome!

  • Maynard Fergusson's a beast

  • I figured there might be Bud Brisbois' window washer scene from "Johnny Cool" but thanks for the video.

  • Great! Thanks for a wonderful video.

  • Wow, you did great work on this video. Fascinating for trumpet players!! Thanks

  • Awesome, awesome, awesome!!! Thanks so much!!!

  • Beautiful work putting this together! When you listen to the soundtrack for Uncle Joe Shannon, you wonder what's going on, but when you see it in context with the movie, it becomes very emotional. Thanks!

  • Great compilation. Thanx!

  • This is amazing. The Bud Brisbois clip made me laugh out loud just because it was so goofy, especially in contrast with what was going on in the movie (which clearly wasn't supposed to be funny). Favorite.

  • nice compilation!

  • Genius!
