Toyota has had problems with the corolla electric assist power steering, the corolla has actually all of a sudden steered it's self into the next lane. Now we all love our modern electronics, but they do fail from time to time ( blue screen ) comes to mind and when I am driving down a mountain road in the rain with my childern in the car I want to know 100% that it's not going to glitch and kill us all. Thanks toyota but NO THANKS, besides there are much better cars for 2012.

I purchased a used 2010 Corolla S back in February with only 26,000 miles and have only put on about 4,000 so far. I have a short commute (about 15 minutes) to my job and most of my travel is city. MPG is good -- around 26 mpg average overall -- and I only have to fill up the tank twice a month. Handling and acceleration is average (no 5 speed auto), but its more of a get you from a to z car. It's a fun and comfortable car to drive when you get the full package (moon roof, etc) and affordable.

Ok, really, the option to turn off traction control on a Toyota Corolla. That seems very useless to me since you will just drive this car as a normal road car and not go racing with it. I just found that option really awkward.
It is useful such as in instances for snow. The traction control will cut all power in some cases in the snow and you have to turn it off on occasion to get going in icy/snowy condtions....I know because this has happened to me before and i drive a camry se

@fmilluminatus When I got my corolla they didn't claim 50....they say 36 Highway, which is about right if you drive lightly, the way I drive I get 30 Highway, which is good.
@XtronGraphics they're in British Columbia they use different units for measuring distances. He said 50 km not 50 miles which is equal to about 31 miles, so its right. :)

@XtronGraphics The canadian gallon is bigger (4.55 liters) the us gallon = (3.78 liters) the 50 mpg claim is true in canada I have a 2009 S and I get 50mpg+ (canadian gallon) HWY ... I think in the US they claim 36mpg (us gallon)

Didn't you mean to say on the video that your Corolla is expected to get near to 40 mpg instead of "near to 50 mpg"? My 2005 Corolla S with 5-speed manual gets 35 - 36 mpg city, 41 mpg hwy. I didn't think anything other than a hybrid got much better mileage than that.

I bought a 2010 Corolla S recently, because it was cheap (relatively), has better mileage than most other vehicles in the price range, and is definitely much much better looking than anything in the price range. Though the regular Corolla isn't to sexy. It handles great, despite rumors saying otherwise. It isn't going to win any races, but it has great acceleration, and is plenty fast for everyday driving . Great car, and i'd say an amazing value.
I call bullshit from edmunds.com they're saying that the handling on corolla is atrocious when I say its one of the best out there!! (for the compact division.

i think the type-s is not a good option. firstly it adds too much weight with the aero kit while the engine remains the same. so even tho ur car is "S" or "Sport" it is slower than the base CE due to more unreasonable weight. either get the XRS or CE.

Reliability and Dependability. There's a reason why Toyota's are the best selling cars out there. I have a 2001 corolla and it's got 120k miles on it now and it's NEVER given me any mechanical problems. I just picked up a 2009 Corolla XRS today and I'm hoping it will serve me just as well as my 01.

My grandma have a 2000 Toyota Corolla and it NEVER gave her problems (regardless to the fact that a lot of people crashed her in this car, and it's like NEW). My neighbor, my grandfather, and my aunt have Chevrolets Aveo, 0Km, they started to give troubles in about 12 months after buying it. I'm not saying japanese cars are better, it's just the brand ;). Btw Lexus cars are from the same owners of Toyota.

i have a 2010 Corolla type S bought it back in April 2009 which now has +10,000 miles and i have to say...i'm in love with this car. It's a very silent drive, air conditioning is phenomenal, sound system is excellent, has a 1.8L engine and can pass up a lot cars on the road while being fuel efficient. I own this vehicle, and while the gas milage is great. It's not 50mpg. It's rated at 28city 36highway and I would say that's about correct.

33mpg mostly highway. 132 hp on a light car like this is plenty.. If speed is no.1 to you,you not going to buy a Corolla or Civic or base Mazda.

@fmilluminatus When I got my corolla they didn't claim 50....they say 36 Highway, which is about right if you drive lightly, the way I drive I get 30 Highway, which is good.

@XtronGraphics The canadian gallon is bigger (4.55 liters) the us gallon = (3.78 liters) the 50 mpg claim is true in canada I have a 2009 S and I get 50mpg+ (canadian gallon) HWY ... I think in the US they claim 36mpg (us gallon)

@Supergungun By the way, my dad acts and keep complaining the same things like you, he had a 70's Mercedes Benz (I don't remember the class) and an 1990 Suzuki Trooper recently (he had to sell 'em). He hates newer cars because of the computer issues and the poor "plastic" protection they have too. He doesn't have good memories of a 1997 Chevrolet Grand Blazer he had because the computer gave him a lot of troubles.

Didn't you mean to say on the video that your Corolla is expected to get near to 40 mpg instead of "near to 50 mpg"? My 2005 Corolla S with 5-speed manual gets 35 - 36 mpg city, 41 mpg hwy. I didn't think anything other than a hybrid got much better mileage than that.

I bought a 2010 Corolla S recently, because it was cheap (relatively), has better mileage than most other vehicles in the price range, and is definitely much much better looking than anything in the price range. Though the regular Corolla isn't to sexy. It handles great, despite rumors saying otherwise. It isn't going to win any races, but it has great acceleration, and is plenty fast for everyday driving . Great car, and i'd say an amazing value.

if you are so worried about your car damaging the enviroment so much you should have bought g whizz or bicycle. cars make only few % of the gasses that damage our enviroment, mostly it's factories, powerplants and similar man made structures that are the part of the actual problem, not to mention how much methane is released by earth itself.

i think the type-s is not a good option. firstly it adds too much weight with the aero kit while the engine remains the same. so even tho ur car is "S" or "Sport" it is slower than the base CE due to more unreasonable weight. either get the XRS or CE.

Toyotas r good not just cuz they had some recalls thatv its not goood anymore they r still number 1 (well at least for me they r) the look is great the inside is great its comfortable.
I went to myrtle beach with this car and i did not complane once it has room and a lot of space to put your things.

Reliability and Dependability. There's a reason why Toyota's are the best selling cars out there. I have a 2001 corolla and it's got 120k miles on it now and it's NEVER given me any mechanical problems. I just picked up a 2009 Corolla XRS today and I'm hoping it will serve me just as well as my 01.

@Supergungun My grandmother and my fathers have BOTH Toyota Corollas. My grandma have a 2000 Toyota Corolla and it NEVER gave her problems (regardless to the fact that a lot of people crashed her in this car, and it's like NEW). My neighbor, my grandfather, and my aunt have Chevrolets Aveo, 0Km, they started to give troubles in about 12 months after buying it. I'm not saying japanese cars are better, it's just the brand ;). Btw Lexus cars are from the same owners of Toyota.

TOYOTA FOR THE WIN! i have a sienna 2004 and not a single thing needed replacement except for airfilters, oil filters, belts.....THATS REGULAR STUFF. unlike my dodge that i had before i had to replace almost every fucking thing. the only thing that stayed was the body and chassis. from lights to the engine, to electronics to axles. ect..... the biggest pile of shit you could ever buy.

i have a 2010 Corolla type S bought it back in April 2009 which now has +10,000 miles and i have to say...i'm in love with this car. It's a very silent drive, air conditioning is phenomenal, sound system is excellent, has a 1.8L engine and can pass up a lot cars on the road while being fuel efficient.
