It is caused by the emissions programming in the computer. Unburned fuel is sent into the headers and on the shorter exhaust the flame is visible. Perfectly normal. Even with a new map.
Bad fuel/air mixture thats how. When u put on a non OEM exhaust u need a new fuel map. Like a power commander or the such. This is crap on the baffles.........just my .02
You right, bad air/fuel mixture, but in this case the bike is actually running rich, if the bike is not tuned after the aft. exh. is installed, the bike will be on the lean side and not blow fire. popping like this is mainly bad for the trottle body butterfly's
Lean conditions can also cause poping on decel, espec w aftermar. exh. sys. but there won't be any flames, running lean is not good.
I have a Raptor 700r, single cyl. also, and when it's cold outside is used to pop a bit more than usual bc of the denser air which makes it run a little leaner that usual, but an EFI controler fixed that.

hmm my KTM Lc4 pop's like crazy on down shifts or when rolling off the thottle, but this is a single cylinder.. is this a bad thing?
