IT WAS A GREAT PERFORMANCE ON THE US FEST 82 AND THAT IS RIGHT THIS IS REAL ROCK AND ROLL, WITHOUT PLAYBACK OR PLASTIC MUSICIANS, SOUNDS FAMILIAR ON 2011??????????RIGHT? BROS JONAS , AGUILERA HILTON AND ETC,ETC
Yes that is how it's done...along with some of the best musicians in the world! I have sat up front for her many times. they sound just like the records. Myron Grumbacher...spelling? the drummer...one of the best in the world.
In an older post, someone mentioned that kids haven't "heard the classics". I've taken my now 18 yr old son to see Van Halen w DLRoth. I've played Aerosmith to Lynrd Skynrd to Queen to early Green Day on the radio & CD's for him. Good music will always stand the test of time. Speaking of which, we've also taken him to see the Glen Miller & Jimmy Dorsey orchestra touring bands, which I highly recommend. wish i would have taken him to see Johnny Cash before he (Johnny) past.
@SugarXMind99 i feel bad for my generation as well everyone seems to be impressed by freakin back up dancers and crappy lyrics rediculously fast guitar playing and really heavily distorted sounds with all this electronic shit. everything is fake now. im an 18 year old guitarist and i'm helping keep the feeling of true Rock 'n Roll alive! If theres anyone else out there trapped in this limbo of shitty music join me and bring back the era of the bands and true Rock 'n Roll!
I was born in 66. Pat is the undisputed godess of rock. There is NO other person that is even close. She is the best. Looks, power, dexterity and pitch. . She is the best ever. Ohhhh, did I mention she is STILL not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame? That makes me SICK! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! Sick! I love P!nk but I worship Pat.
There is no video for "hit me with your best shot" either. From Crimes of Passion the only videos are "You better run" & "I'm going to follow you". It's funny to hear her tell the story about how the director from the "you better run" video told her to just stand there and shake her butt. She thinks that's why it came out so good. Because she was so pissed off and it matched the attitude of the song. Anyway It's great that Myron influenced your stage presence.
No flashy stage nonsense, no multiple costume changes, no backup dancers, no lip-synchingjust straight forward rock n roll. If you didnt get goose bumps from thisif your heart didnt start beat five times faster, if you dont think this rockscall a doctor cause youre dead!
I pity you kids with the sorry musical landscape you have today. Please take note of artist like these and keep true rock n roll alive.
I'm into alot of music genres, old and new, but todays music is no match for the 70-80s rock.
I was born in '81, so I only picked up music in the second half of that decade, but I certainly am into alot of 80s music today. It keeps coming back :D
Hee! I admit - I love all the flashy nonsense of a pop show, but I am also a straight-up no strings fan (it's pretty much all goos) - Pat is one of my faves ( had the pleasure of seeing her at the now-dead Montreal Forum).....oh, that voice.........I was by myself, in the bleeders, and the people next to me were not too enthusiastic. But she was great, of course! I think Shadows of The Night does me in....(told you I had a pop side :))
@SugarXMind99 I could not have said it better. Right on the money. I do not want to see any hits from curren so called "starts", but none of them can match the vocals and energy. And - as you said - no tricks and at 2.11 Pat really starts to burn.
@SugarXMind99 Spoken like a typical old fart.........and I couldn't agree more :) I gave ya a thumbs up buddy! You said it! ;) I miss this kind of power.
When I was growing up in the 80's, Pat Benatar was rock/Pop perfection to me. I'm Black and didn't like rock music before Pat Benatar came out. Her vocals were just incredible.
Great performance! She has got a really good rock voice. It's a pitty that she turned into pop. This song is definetly Hardrock! If she had chosen that path,i would be fan,and may be she had become a great Hardrock singer just like Lee Aaron!
It's hard to fathom how some mickey mouse britney spears video gets millions of hits while a true artistic musical talent like Pat Benatar only has 13,000 views.
Just another example of how far backwards America has fallen.
Yep, that insane red headed drummer blew me away when I was taking up drums many years ago as an early teen. Needless to say, he was truly a great influence on my playing. Sadly, he is, believe it or not, a very underrated drummer among the drumming community. Don't know why, but I know true talent when I hear it. He reminds me of the awesome Keith Moon, both great showmen as well as stunning drummers.
No. She didn't make any videos for the album "in the heat of the night" which contains heartbreaker. Her first video I think was for the song you better run from her second album "crimes of passion"
Hmmm? I know I'm getting old, but I seem to remember something which I though was a "Heartbreaker" video on that new-fangled MTV years ago; most notably, the sick Myron Grombacher behind a huge drum kit just wearing and tearing it up for all he was worth (it was kind of comical because he seemed to be a short guy - like me - and the kit so large). Was I dreaming, or was it another song? Hmmm? Either way, he made me want to bring that same energy to both my playing and my fellow musicians.
My bad, I may have been "Hit Me with Your Best Shot". Was there a video for that with Myron behind a huge drum kit playing like a little dervish devil? Can't find it yet. Any directions welcomed please, that video is still etched in my mind because it made me want to do the same things he was doing to that kit.
I was at this concert, the "Get Nervous Tour" March, 1983 at Reunion Arena in Dallas...what a fond memory this is for me.
