hey man, good stuff. where do you usually sell your pelts at? I'm looking into getting into coyote hunting, but I don't know where to sell the pelts. also, do you know anything about the bounties? how do we claim those, and what counties are they in?
Not this year. I either tanned them and kept them or gave them away to a friend that sells them. But most years, you bet, usually get about $30 each for them.
The .221 necked down to .17 is the Mach IV in wildcat form, or now in factory form is called the .17 Fireball. I've had a Mach IV for years, but the .17 Predator has much higher velocity.
Keep in mind, this is a wildcat .17 cartridge that you can't buy off the shelf. That said, the farthest I've killed a coyote with this rifle is just over 400 yards. The load I'm using still has over 500 ft/lbs of energy left at that distance. But, realistically, I like to keep shots on coyotes with it under 300 yards most of the time. Conditions have to be just right to stretch the range much further. Usually, I won't take the long shot, but will try and get them to come closer.
You should try actually hunting the animal next time instead of sitting in a field on your lazy ass using a store-bought caller and shooting it when it got close enough to you.
you should stop being being a pussy fag lib. man up and kill a varmit. who cares if its a elec. caller. your useing a computer to talk shit. man up and walk up to a redneck hunter and say that shit in person, tough guy.
That is hunting the animal... It's really difficult to hunt a coyote because they have great hearing and if you have seen any hunting videos you call them to you.
My dad is trying to get us into this stuff. He always discusses how he wants a .17 with like a .306/8 case or something like that. That thing sounded pretty beefy for a .223 case. When you guys do those calls is it automated or is one dude busting his balls all day doing that... Is it inhumane to shoot them in the head? It sounds like it'd just be lights out for them but my friend who hunts always tells me they don't die right away and its like uhhhhhh wtf?
I live in utah and I am willing to bet that this was taken somewhere around Nephi, there are tons of Coyotes out there and the terrain looks right for the area.
nice shot!!!!!!!!!!!!

Isn't the wildcat a necked down Win .221, what a way to lob a small sabot.

man, the best gun for coyotes (i think) is the 22-250 ,how many grains in your 17?
Mattboygitrdone 4 years ago
The .22-250 is pretty hard to beat, I've worn out three of them and still have one. The load I'm using in my .17 uses a 30 gr. bullet, at 4100 fps.
DaveAffleck 4 years ago
Has the crtridge you are using got a name or is it your own?
regular007 4 years ago
It's called the .17 Predator.
DaveAffleck 4 years ago
Nice job at how many yard did u get him at?

Nice damn shot. I didn't know you could reach out with a .17 like that. What's the effective range on yotes?

was that a .17 rem or hmr?
noname124398 5 years ago
Neither, actually. It's a .17 Predator. A wildcat based on the .223 case. Has more capacity than the .17 Rem. by about 10%.
