It's a R34 Skyline GT-T, he pulled up to the car meet in tampa saying he will race anyone for $2000. I told him I wanted to race and he said okay without even asking what I had... we raced twice, same results, not sure what mods it had but the guy said it was running 24 psi. He would only do a roll race as well because the GTT is rwd, he was runing street tires and I had nitto drs at the time. I've raced an R33 skyline gtr with a boost controller, exhaust etc and won by 1-2 car lengths btw...
thats the first corvette ive seen beat a skyline... makes me wonder if the dude was tryiing or not.. thats a pretty slow skyline if he was casue that corvette isnt very fast, its not even a z06

the ls6 in a z06 can handle about 500 WHEEL horsepower (and that's pushing it), while the rb26dett that came with the gt-r can handle a little over 600 wheel horsepower, and this is with a 2.8l engine. nuff said...

Actually I've got C6 Z06 suspension, and lowered it 2" and the Z51 handling package for the curves... I raced an R33 GTR a few weeks ago from a roll, 50 - 120 and pulled it by a car and half or so.

im not a muscle head, but i'm not a douche either. Off of facts alone the engine is good, but let's be realistic. Stock the engine is barely putting out 280hp and about 290 lbs tq. Now the skylines have been dubbed godzilla for a reason. They're heavy and weigh about 100-200lbs more than the c5. The only thing the Gt-r has to keep it in the game is its AWD system. The base 1999-2000 model c5's have 345hp with 350 tq.
i dont think that is a z06. i think it is a regular FRC vette with mods. i looks like it has a larger window out back and t-tops, something z06s dont have. i could be wrong, the video is dark and never really gets a good angle of the vette.
that wasnt even a GTR. it was prolly just a GT 4cyl turbo. try again vs a GTR then we'll see how fast it is. not saying a z06 is slow by any means, but z06 is corvettes tuned version and GTR is skylines. that would be a better race

Stop picking favorites guys. I think there needs to some respect for the Japanese's efficiency with smaller engines. In other words, think of the kind of performance Japanese cars would have if they put V8s in their sports cars.
Don't forget that for a while Japanese law restricted companies from producing like over 250hp. A modded Skyline(older generations) making 500+hp is what Nissan could have done if that law wasn't there themselves.

alright people listen. ive been studying the skylines engines and corvettes engines. r34 skyline will not beat a corvette stock vs stock. from a start from zero the skyline will take the vette off the line. but as rpm"s get higher the v8 does not start to die down it keeps its pace and keeps accelerating at a good pace.... a skyline is only a 6 cylinder.... but a race is a race the corvette beat the skyline but if you put a couple thousand and nice work that skyline will be right with that vette
until you get on pace zr1 vs skyline...i never understood how people come one here and say oh well my skyline with 60k of work done to it would beat it....when the zr1 is still able to be heavily modded...but nismo made the best r34 you can get and its $50k more then the zr1 and still doesnt have the power or etc...overall at higher speeds the 6 just wont handle it like the 8....the vettes are engines tuned and modded most of these are one big complete aftermarket part...

stock muscle cars might get beat by a modded and forced inductioned 4 banger but they need atleast a turbo with 12 pounmds of boost and rly good tune to do that put a turbo on a muscle car and a turbo on a fourbanger and the muscle car will walk away everytime
If you're drag racing all you have to do is rev your car up till the turbo gets fully spooled and when the light goes green you launch. Lag isn't really much of a problem if your car is properly tuned and you know how to drive.

All JDM bases it's performance gains around is a turbocharger...take a supra (minus turbo) vs. a skyline (minus turbo) and it's just about as fun as watching paint dry. I'm not saying it's a bad concept because it's great for fuel mileage. it's just that torque and displacement is really where it's at in performance numbers, add a turbo to that and we are on another level.
For the guys who say hooking up a Japanese car is cheaper and 4Cyl. is where it's at...this is not the real. V8s are by far the most inexpensive way to go fast. I try to keep an open mind but these are just pure facts. As far as 4Cyl. go, the horsepower numbers can be 1000+ but HP is just the rate at which torque is produced...with 1200 HP and 500 lbs. of torque...sorry. That's why Ferrari and Porsche uses those 1.8L right??? :D
well actually if u ask nismo to rebuild the RB26DETT prperly with proper parts(some of the block is very cheaply build to save cash) take the limeter off nd set the boost to were it should be 14psi it'll pull 550bhp ez. off the first production line nissan was releasin some r34 gtrs at 400bhp+ which was stock but had to stop due to regulations

ok a little lesson. a Skyline GT-R = inline 6tt(twin turbo). Stock makes 327hp. Its also AWD. A Skyline GT-T., which u have here in the video, has a 2.5L single turbo that is just RWD and makes about 250hp. There you go american muscle boys. Stop picking favorites guys. I think there needs to some respect for the Japanese's efficiency with smaller engines. In other words, think of the kind of performance Japanese cars would have if they put V8s in their sports cars.
Don't forget that for a while Japanese law restricted companies from producing like over 250hp. A modded Skyline(older generations) making 500+hp is what Nissan could have done if that law wasn't there themselves.

alright people listen. ive been studying the skylines engines and corvettes engines. r34 skyline will not beat a corvette stock vs stock. from a start from zero the skyline will take the vette off the line. but as rpm"s get higher the v8 does not start to die down it keeps its pace and keeps accelerating at a good pace.... a skyline is only a 6 cylinder.... but a race is a race the corvette beat the skyline but if you put a couple thousand and nice work that skyline will be right with that vette

until you get on pace zr1 vs skyline...i never understood how people come one here and say oh well my skyline with 60k of work done to it would beat it....when the zr1 is still able to be heavily modded...but nismo made the best r34 you can get and its $50k more then the zr1 and still doesnt have the power or etc...overall at higher speeds the 6 just wont handle it like the 8....the vettes are engines tuned and modded most of these are one big complete aftermarket part...

Just think a OHV 350ci is gonna crank out alot of low end power 1,500-4,400RPM is the torque band, coupled with a Turbo its insane, Turbo supplying the high end power. A TT lingenfelter corvette can pull 9 seconds in a quarter mile. Just look at the ZR1 a good driver than can get a good launch and not rip it can pull low s11's with a stock supercharger. If you're drag racing all you have to do is rev your car up till the turbo gets fully spooled and when the light goes green you launch. Lag isn't really much of a problem if your car is properly tuned and you know how to drive.

Here is your answer: Because the 4cylinders have an extensive amount of work done to them, thats why! Oh but there is a price to that... when you try to squeeze that much power out of a smaller engine you shorten its life span. V8's are stronger blocks which can handle 500hp very easily.

All JDM bases it's performance gains around is a turbocharger...take a supra (minus turbo) vs. a skyline (minus turbo) and it's just about as fun as watching paint dry. I'm not saying it's a bad concept because it's great for fuel mileage. it's just that torque and displacement is really where it's at in performance numbers, add a turbo to that and we are on another level.

For the guys who say hooking up a Japanese car is cheaper and 4Cyl. is where it's at...this is not the real. V8s are by far the most inexpensive way to go fast. I try to keep an open mind but these are just pure facts. As far as 4Cyl. go, the horsepower numbers can be 1000+ but HP is just the rate at which torque is produced...with 1200 HP and 500 lbs. of torque...sorry. That's why Ferrari and Porsche uses those 1.8L right??? :D

well actually if u ask nismo to rebuild the RB26DETT prperly with proper parts(some of the block is very cheaply build to save cash) take the limeter off nd set the boost to were it should be 14psi it'll pull 550bhp ez. off the first production line nissan was releasin some r34 gtrs at 400bhp+ which was stock but had to stop due to regulations

ok a little lesson. a Skyline GT-R = inline 6tt(twin turbo). Stock makes 327hp. Its also AWD. A Skyline GT-T., which u have here in the video, has a 2.5L single turbo that is just RWD and makes about 250hp. There you go american muscle boys. I am not putting down a vette they just didnt have to put they owned it when i know a skyline in its prime would shit all over a corvette. Look on youtube guys, there are HONDA's eating you guys up driving zo6's. and this isnt even one.

Admittedly, like I said, it is a purpose built race-car. Different class or not, regardless .. my point is that SOMETHING is always faster. Its street-legal, so thats the only class that matters. Between the nissan and the z06, yes the gt-r is faster. Doesn't mean its unbeatable by any means. Me and my brothers have stages 1-5 ordered, waiting on the freight from the UK. I'm in a similar boat with my ultima GTR, I HOPE to have finished assembling it within a year and a half. Also, building the LS2 to put into it. The Ultima GTR is a specialty car. It is not in the same class or category of the Nissan GTR or anything near it.
Yes it is faster and can brake better; but it is a TOTALLY different type of car.
However the GTR is the King within its own class of car. The only other car to come near it is the Z06.
