I went on holiday to norway and i looked and looked for one of theese and we were right in the forest aswell! But we never saw one :( we saw bear tracks though :D and moose tracks! Haahaa
Jå..detta var ei fin okse. Erre i Rendalen tru? Sjå på dei gevira...må vøri frå Trysil-distriktet den der. Ja, detta var gildt å sjå, Glær meg til jakta nå!
um.. no. its not big.. its like.. average but the ful grown mooses can be much bigger. but almost every one get shot before they get 5 years =/ thats why they feel much smaller.. ^^
The Norwegian and Scandinavian moose have been hunted hard. Many hunters like to have big antlers on the wall back home. So often the biggest moose is shot in the hunting season.
But some places you can still find moose with 18 to 22 spikes.
yes but what is considered a big spread from the farthest tips of the antlers. biggest rack i have seen was 86" wide and probably about 35 points on it. In Alaska most places you have to shoot a 50" spread or bigger.
The skandinavian moose is smaller than the american. The biggest antle from a moosebull in Norway is 121,8 cm wide. The antleweight was 17 kg (34 pounds)
yes you are quite right so 48" is about the biggest rack. Thats still decent. I was also wondering how they are able to use dogs to hunt them......if they did that here we'd be in jail.
in scandinavia "barking dogs" has been used since stone age,for hunting elk "moose", capercaillie and evan Pine Marten.the gool is not that the dog shoud chase the elk but to find and stop it,by barking cind of hypnotize/distract the moose making it easier for the hunter/handler.this is no ball game,it requires great skill as hunter and handler "it seams so easy in th e films" a few dogs are realy god at it
