I was 10 when they first broadcast this and it was a part of my childhood as well. I remember " can i have a 'p'please Bob' as well - and the hand jive. Thanks for bringing back the memories.

Not many people know that Bob Holness was the very first actor to play James Bond. I'm not kidding, he played Bond in a radio version in the 1950s. If only they had chosen him for the films, how different cinema history would be then....
