I think the Robin Hood style of protest is a creative idea, especially for cities and towns fed-up with parking meter hikes and abusive meter maids trying to nail you once your meter expires.
This is a terrible idea. Think of the lost meter maid jobs that will be created! In the middle of a recession too! We need those meter maids out there and giving people fines, or the economy could get worse!
I've seen stories on the national news where people in other states do this and get arrested and prosecuted. Which raises the issue of do the fat cats really want parking meters paid, or is it just a huge scam to rip people off with large parking fines.
there's only one way to make real progress; organize. get together, think together, come up with a list of grievances and then work to change them. elect leaders from your own ranks, solve the problems you see daily- if at all possible, without the current government. prove them ineffective and illegitimate so we can wipe our hands of them and their destructive practices.
People experiment with different ways of doing things, and those ways that work flourish.
With a "low barrier to entry", greater experimentation can take place, and innovative entrepreneurs keep the established organizations on their toes to survive.
Business, charity, community service, they all work the same way.
Voluntary association! It's not just a good idea, it's the most efficient!
I saw a vid a while back where a guy dress' up in a fairy costume with a bucket of quarters putting money in expired meters. The cops arrested him since the town/city in question has an ordinance against this type of activity.
