Well after reading about this in film school textbooks, a 1990s magazine interview of Anger, and online reviews I finally got to see "Fireworks". And I didn't get it. The persecution suffered by homosexuals in the 1940s maybe? The whole thing is left wide open to interpretation, and if you're somebody like Anger who is producing experimental gay cinema, you're probably not interested in appealing to any audience, no matter how narrow.

Kenneth Anger was a brilliant film maker! Thank you for posting this! Fireworks is screening in L.A. but I couldn't make it.
