R - Type is an epic game! It would be great if the creators take R- type to a whole new level by making a version where the gameplay would be 3D like Ace combat, for example. It would be a really cool idea, but it would take the arcade feeling of the game.

@KewneRain The R9 is my favorite. That's why I made videos out of it first. After I finished with the R9 I had a hugely difficult time with the other ships. The R9 comes in first hands down every single time for me.

Although I never did complete that stage, I must say that Irem's shooters are never impossible(even though it felt like that at the time!). They do put some thought into them so you scream "Bastards! I should have gone left NOT right!" instead of "WTF? How am I supposed to avoid all that???".

I think I got to stage six, but found it rather impossible after that.

Definitely one of the best PSOne blasters, and the music, graphics and spectacle were amazing for its time and hardware.

@MysticArksRevenge Because a lot of non-Japanese corporate cultures discourage the originality of genuinely disturbing imagery in their entertainment, favoring the mass consumer desire for gorn, since that's an easy substitute that draws in the lowest common denominator-type members of the 12-24 demographic.

For stuff of this caliber in white bread countries like the US, you have to search indie games, not the big corporations.

This is the part which makes me you wonder if the Bydo, is trying to recreate humanity or something. Like they want to live the humans do which may be why you fight enemies that resembles human babies. Like they want to be humans themselves, but they're going about that concept THE WRONG WAY. Instead of evolving in their own way and leaving everything else alone, the Bydo are going around converting things and making planets and people as their own.

My interpretation is, the Bydo is a materialize image of desire and selfish deep within human being. The babies are just some hints that "we and Bydo" are that alike. I am not sure producers have the intention to lead us to think this way though. On top of that Bydo is a creation of human, the reason for creating Bydo is to some what like "making planets and people as their own".

@hokke1985 The nucleotide sequence was a stage that sperm come out from the egg... baby double helix... touched the depths of the bydo. How interested it sound Mr Hokke1985 the Nucleotide that when joined together make up the structural units. Meaning that your force resembles of DNA from the bydo was touched by the light, fusing it to create secondary structure.

I think the most logical reason is the R-13's Wave isn't as powerful and is more directed to Tracking and homing rather than pure power.

no actually heres the reason R-13s ball thingi has givin the bydos really much power so it became stronger then R-13. thats why R-13s lightning strike didnt work

the reason why R-13 is being taken from the bydos is because it was had dark energy so they have takin him. well its a guess : )

Because R-13 had used Wave cannon of a principle different from R-9 delta and RX-10, the wall of the dimension was not able to be broken through.

To Blitzwielder: The Cerberus didn't have enough energy to escape (being a prototype at the time) and was then fused onto the Bydo Tree. It was the fate of the Cerberus. You do have to destoy it on Stage 3.5 of Final to obliterate that Bydo Tree (and the Cerberus, due to its fate, is actually "powered" and controlled by the Bydo Tree when you face it. I wonder what would have happened to its ancestors, the Hades and the Charon?)
