The beginning of it is a lot like an aikido technique called hiji kime osae. The throw in the end is more of a judo-style sacrifice throw. Hope that helps
aiki jujutsu was coined by daito ryu. there is NO daito ryu in this video. Also considering they do a mix of martial arts. Lezmos go do so research first. Looks more like bad aikido mixed with judo and karate.
actually Aiki jujutsu was coined by Takeda Ryu. Daito is an off shoot of that style, but that does not mean that those are the sole forms of Aikijujutsu available. Many clans had quite similar styles that were just called Jujutsu, but actually follow the same concepts as aiki (Hakko Ryu for instance). So, no, actually there is Aikijujutsu in this video.
Does Anyone know where I can download a torrent of Daito Ryu AikiJututsu?plz get back.I am a devoted student of Aikido and have just started training AikiJJ.Any good websites would be welcome too!!
Awesome video. Have recently got into Daito Ryu Aikijujutsu to further my knowledge and compliment my Jujutsu training. Really enjoying it and learning heaps. Found it very thorough and going more indepth to things the other styles only really touched on but this elaborates further. Cheers awesome video!
There are fighters in both disciplines I wouldn't want to piss off. But most important is, that I love this arts, and that I have fun doing them. And not the fact that I can beat up this or that guy and win from this or that martial art... I try to pass this way of thinking on to my students so...
When I read this posts, I see most people talking about what's the best and most effective art. Martial arts is no magic, you have to sweat, bleed and sweat some more to get result. I practised now Kyokushin for 7 years and Aikibudo for 6 years, and I love both.
Many westerners dont understand classical Jap. Jujutsu techniques, Many techniques start from Wrist grabs simply because the Samurai always Had a Edged weapon on him so if he drew it you have a slim chance at defending yourself, Bjj came from Judo, Judo came from Kyo-Ryu Jujutsu. Modern Fighting forms are diffent. What ever art you like is "the best"...to you, you have one life do what makes you happy, dont analize, just train....This is true Budo.
I'm currently a Shodan in Aikibudo, I understand the effectiveness of all these techniques and they will work. However, they are only as effective as the student will and capabilities. To say BJJ or Jiujutsu is better here and there would be wrong. Although BJJ is great on the ground, it can have effective in stand up. However, from my personal view, 99% of the time, a BBJ student/fighter will attempt to take it to the ground.
Because if you are a well-rounded martial artist, going to the ground is only one of your many options. Most arts were designed to so they could be used against stronger, bigger and taller opponents anyway.
GelsamelXV so you suggest that in a street fight a person should stand there and trade with his advessary who might be taller or stronger than him?Why shouldn't I go to the ground ASAP in a street fight if on the ground my advesary is far less able to strike me and I am far better suited to disable or serverally hurt him?
What if your advesary has friends? The ground might not be the best place to go. A lot of the tecniques in jujitsu dont require you to be stronger than the opponent.
Thats been way overquoted Plato86, and while it is true you should never go into a fight trying to get to the ground first. Which is why learning just BJJ is silly. If you have the time only to learn 1 martial art then you're better off with a striking art, or something like Aikijujutsu.
Igaluit you might not want to go to the ground but empiracl evidence shows that most fights do end up on the ground and therefore you got to know ground fighting. Also once you get to the ground you don't have to stay there;you can take you're opponent down throw some quick strikes or go for a sub and rise again if necessary.I realize that BJJ is not the be all end all of self defense but it's a great place to start.
Jan Janssens is 7th dan of aikijujutsu yoseikan, and is the technical director in IMAF for all the stiles of aikido/aikijujutsu.
In Spain the president Jose Miranda is also 6th Dan in Aikijujutsu.
In our dojo we train this style of aikijujutsu yoseikan, but we also train nihon tai jitsu/nihon ju jutsu (the style of Roland Hernaez Hanshi 9ºDan, pupil of master mochizuki.
I did not mean to come off as a show off I was just found it strange that some of your fellow students gave their back to the opponent.Just my bias in technique really; if it works for you guys then by all means keep practicing it.
I suggest going to the ground should always be the last option; You can't fight two people or more from the ground, and you should always expect that another person will materialize out of nowhere. The only reason BJJ is superior on the ground is that most other fighters are not proficient in ground fighting, but if they were, then even that option would become less interesting. Not badmouthing BJJ; obviously every fighter should study it at some time or other.
to conclude i have to tell you that in our dojo we practice several martial arts like ju jutsu, aikijujutsu, nihon tai jitsu, kobudo and what a surprise! those guys practice also kenpo! i think you are a bit of show-off and you have to be more polite.
Respect for all the martial arts,(kenpo its very efective and bjj its a very good system to fight on the ground :)
jimmylevesbrakfast the parts of the video that are movies aren´t street self defense, its an old martial art very hard and efective , traditional, and beautifull with a lot of historical details which makes it very rich and interesant.
As well, the firsts video clips are from an old exhibition and the guys werent experts, their degree was lower than black belt (i think).
hi!to start, i've to say im glad you liked the video. Many people have watched it and it have had a very good wellcome.
first of all, this video, Its just a memorial video with old photos with people that nowadays arent in our dojo dificult to understan completly if you know the history of the photos and so on.
IT IS NOT A PROMO VIDEO OF OUR DOJO, we are thinking to do so but still we havent made it. After this ...
You do realize that Jujitsukas have an excellent sense of balance and flexibility right?I've seen guys in my class work their way out of kimuras and arm bars by tumbling and rolling so I doubt there is an arm lock a Jujitsuka could not escape. Also don't forget that the our primary goal is to get the fight to the ground so we're not going to just stand there and let you work.
Plato, you can't apply an RNC -as you say-(Rear Naked Choke)when you are unbalanced, have your arm in a lock or semi-lock and are being spun around silly. Brazilian jujutsu is a great art, but it is still a progression or modern adaptation of ancient jujutsu.
BJJ is practical we train both for sport and self defense. There are alot of holds that are illegal in sports jiujutsu that we are taught so we can use in self defense so don't think we're only about arm bars and RNCs.
Hello Plato. Yes, I've met aggressive opponents that can be a challenge, but understand that the aikijutsu practioner here is holding back and not applying full force as he could in a real situation. There were just as many devious and tricky criminals in feudal Japan as there are aggressive opponents today. By the way there seems to be a nice social life at that dojo in Spain.
Perhasp Igaluit but a grappler could just as easily apply a RNC standings as he could on the ground. It's s dangerous game to play with an agressive opponent.
It's true that on the ground, presenting your back to your opponent is suicide. However, in the standing techniques, here, there are a variety of details (eg. speed, unbalance, etc) which deprive the opponent of successfully taking advantage of a momentarily turned back.
In BJJ we are taught never to give up our backs to the opponents yet these guys do it regularly when going for a throw.I real question the effectiveness of this style.
ok then....whats the point of this shit, ill shoot you fuckers. Yea the octagon as rules, but I bet that each one of the fighters could take on the guys in these videos.
actually Yoseikan Budo incorporates A LOT of both stand up (taichi waza) and ground (newaza or todays BJJ). So although a lot of these techniques are ending in one move, you have to understand that counters and ground work are apart of the curriculum. So it IS very effective and hasnt failed me. I also do competitive judo (2 years when younger 5 years present) as well as yoseikan budo (10 years) so if you get a chance to train with us i advise you do so

aikido is a watered down version of ju jutsu
and in a street fight this would own aiki ju jutsu is the most lethal ju jutsu and ninpo is the deadliest art of all martial arts
