This is so awesome. Just look at these guys- you can tell they're enjoying this. And that's an absolute must when it comes to delivering such mind-blowing songs as Crush 40's.
Nah, the new games are crap. In Sonic CD you could use time to your advantage, and there were good movies and sound, in Sonic 3 you could turn super in the middle, in SA you could freely wonder in a 3D world to feel like part of the story, in SA2 there were many additives, including endless possibilities in the chao garden, and I can keep at it but there's no more space. In today's games you don't even have emerald stages, or a fun story- only the psychotic or boring type.
It's all a matter of opinion. I personally liked the stories of Shadow the Hedgehog (the game), Shadow's, Silver's and the Last Story of Sonic the Hedgehog (2006 game) and Sonic Unleashed quite a lot. I also like the gameplay of some of the new games as much, if not more-so, than some of the 2D-Games.
Emerald-Stages are a buzzkill for me, since, with the exception of S3&K and Heroes, they are a lil' too difficult for my taste.

While I agree that Secret Rings was shit in many regards... the story of the Arabian Nights has not a thing to do with Muslims or the Jihad. Sounds a lil' respectless there.

And, the whole PREMISE of the Storybook story thing is that Sonic gets flung into pre-existing stories (or Sonic-versions of those), nothing wrong with that part... when executed well.

And about SatBK- Sonic can handle the same without a sword, and the fact they say he was on a date with Amy is wrong. I take Shadow the Hedgehog for example as an old game. Just like on all earlier games it was fun there to get all A ranks.

"All earlier games"? There were only 2 games using the ranking system previous to Shadow. And it was only fun for me in ShTH so far, the others are too hard to get.
I really expected to use the nunchuk or at least hold the wiimote streight to play SRZG. I hated the fact I couldn't lean my arms to rest or I'll fly out of the track. I don't like the "god punishment" refference, it doesn't fit a kid game like Sonic, and the Babelonians were a regular empire, like the Persians and Greeks.
I did collect all A ranks in SA, SA2, ShTH (heh, I also did all 326 routes), all emblems/marks/S ranks/gold ribbons/5stars on the other Sonic games =)
Thanks, but wouldn't you prefer the option to do stunts on SRZG as well? Or have a better Super Sonic? (I consider myself a good player, but winning with him against other desent players is almost impossible- he really sucks). You don't use air in that game, so why the boards, and really, how come Sonic had his board all the time- he never does, and he can run faster than that.
And it's actually the worst way to use the wii's functions- you can't use the laser pointer nor nunchuk sensors.
Eh, the stunts were kinda tedious in Sonic Riders, to me at least. Getting the jump right is way enough for me. And Super Sonic is a fun challenge in ZG because he's so difficult to control - but I have proven myself numerous times that you CAN win with him. In fact, one some of those Grand Prix' with him already, which got me extra-rings.
The boards are gravity-based, no problem with that, and they just got 'em because it's a spin-off.
(cont.) Let's pretend the events there happened immediately after the first Sonic Riders (plus-minus a few days) and it makes sense again.
And using the Wii's functions the way SRZG did is just fine, considering it's a RACING-game, you don't need to wave your arms around in 10¹⁰⁰ different ways for that.
Of course, you CAN win with Super Sonic- the problem is not handling-you CAN'T win with him while facing other good players (which I beat every time if I take either Sonic or Shadow). Those boards are still using air, and you see the characters flying with them in their hands in the cutscenes... it's pretty much pointless to use them if you can fly.
And the wiimote could be held in the right hand to balance with the nunchuck in the left hand. That way you can have easier access to more buttons.
From what I can see, every character can beat every other character in the game - that includes Super Sonic, no matter how skilled the other players are. Hell, I broke some of my own records using Super Sonic and I do consider myself somewhat good at that game...
Maybe they are using the boards for FUN, have you considered that? And again, it's ONLY A SPIN-OFF.
And, I think that method you just described is overcomplicating things.
If you dun like playin' with Wiimote, why not use GC-controller?
I did. after I finished the game and all the missions with gold marks I started using a GC controller to unlock more easily all the boards.
Well, I played A LOT of racing games, and this one I see as kind of a disappointment.

And by the way- no, not every character can beat every character- there isn't a complete balance between them, and can't be. Play against someone your level with the worst character and see.

They tried making another Sonic Adventure (2) style of game with Sonic '06, but were, sadly, rushed. We'll see what will become of "Project Needlemouse", though.
I think every character is balanced enough - then again, I have no one to play with, sadly. D:
Not all shortcuts are equal you know, nor are the affinity relations- for example, if you follow someone who uses power for a shortcut you can sometimes benefit from it, unlike following the speed type. Some characters are much faster than others, some courses require better steering (which only half the characters can benefit from)...
And I really preffered the story of Sonic Adventure over this game's story.
Shortcuts even each other out, pretty much. Speaking of which, did you know that Super Sonic without rings can use shortcuts that usually require the "attack" power up?
Sonic Adventure's story was really repetitive, to me, what with it... well, repeating it's cutscenes over and over, and at least ZG had a hint of character-development for the Rogues.
... and how was that contradictive title (Sonic Battle) any good? O.o At least to me it was not...
Just to answer- Story was interesting, I liked the ability to use the other characters' moves, especially those of the characters I like most, and the feeling you are getting stronger all the time. I like self improving games. Played it over 1000 hours, beat the Virtual Training so many times that I lost count. I have all abilities EXCEPT the one I want most- the ultimate move of Shadow's chaos blast (or whatever ground power was). I never get it =(
Well, I don't have a single favorite, I like a lot of the games a whole lot... if I had to choose, I'd pick Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) for 3D and Sonic 3 & Knuckles for 2D...
As for least favorites, I'd have to say either Sonic 2 (8- and 16-bit), Sonic Adventure (DX) or Sonic and the Secret Rings.
(All based on those games I have played so far...)
Eh, Sonic Adventure DX is glitchy, buggy, got bad music, bad voice acting, and the only real fun part was Gamma's gameplay, to me... meh, each man to his craft, I suppose.
As for, "in general", well, some of my favorite game series' would include (aside Sonic) would include Final Fantasy, Monkey Island and You Don't Know Jack.
The playthrough was still tense- you don't know what happen to others while you play as one or how it will end. And the upgrades were good. I liked going free in search of stuff, and the chao garden was also fun.
I can't determine what was the best game I played because some are from so long ago...
I think it's either Metroid Prime, or Super Paper Mario, or Fire Emblem
Eh, with a lot of parts of the story, it was pretty obvious what was happening to others in some areas ('specially Sonic in Tails' story for the most part).
Upgrades were okay, they can bring that aspect back to the games. Chao Garden was okay, I guess, much more fun in SA2B, to me, though.
Incidently, those three games you mentioned somehow all managed to bore me... maybe that's just personal preference again, though. ^^;
You might dislike tactics, or the type of story of Fire Emblem, I don't see any real flaw in Super Paper Mario, but Metroid Prime? Didn't you anticipate the fight against Metroid Prime, as you keep on reading about him the whole game, or have the feeling of power every time you get a new weapon?
I am not a very tactical person, no. Super Paper Mario is just not my thing, I suppose. Too... hectic, for lack of a better term.
Metroid Prime, haven't played the first one (don't have it xD; ), did however play parts 2 and 3, and, well, never got far in them. Not much of a fan of FPS to begin with.
MP2 and 3 weren't making many ununderstandable allusions from what I got... most of the story, I know through my brother, who loves the games, anyhow. xD;
I personally love turn-based RPGs, they're a lot of fun to me. Not so much a fan of the style of FF XII, though, that's just... eh.
Super Smash Bros. ... eh, not really a fan of it, either. Mainly because I have no one to play with and I usally suck at it, anyhow.
MP2 and 3 were a streight sequal to MP1, which told you almost everything- who is Metorid Prime, what's Phason, how did Dark Samus arrive, and many more.

And about SatBK- Sonic can handle the same without a sword, and the fact they say he was on a date with Amy is wrong. The whole "King" thing is so random too (and since he leaves the Knights DO have to disband hehe)
I take Shadow the Hedgehog for example as an old game. Just like on all earlier games it was fun there to get all A ranks.

Again, it's a matter of opinion. Sonic Riders was fun, but not as much as Zero Gravity, or so I think, anyhow - in all regards, that is, including story.
For SatBK, you could argue that the Knights were magically enforced so only Caliburn could slay them... and maybe Sonic was on a date with Amy because he lost a bet? That could be.
"All earlier games"? There were only 2 games using the ranking system previous to Shadow. And it was only fun for me in ShTH so far, the others are too hard to get.

I really expected to use the nunchuk or at least hold the wiimote streight to play SRZG. I hated the fact I couldn't lean my arms to rest or I'll fly out of the track. I don't like the "god punishment" refference, it doesn't fit a kid game like Sonic, and the Babelonians were a regular empire, like the Persians and Greeks.
I did collect all A ranks in SA, SA2, ShTH (heh, I also did all 326 routes), all emblems/marks/S ranks/gold ribbons/5stars on the other Sonic games =)
I don't find it hard.

Well, the whole CONCEPT of the Wii is for you to move... so it really makes more sense to move the Wiimote to get anywhere.
I dunno, Sonic is, to me, an evolving series that's getting more mature as it grows - not just a Kids' game.
The Babylonians of the Sonic-world are clearly not the same of our world - the two worlds are too different to begin with.
... and, to you, it may be easy, but to unskilled people like me, it's very freaking hard, only managed to do it on ShTH so far...

Thanks, but wouldn't you prefer the option to do stunts on SRZG as well? Or have a better Super Sonic? (I consider myself a good player, but winning with him against other desent players is almost impossible- he really sucks). You don't use air in that game, so why the boards, and really, how come Sonic had his board all the time- he never does, and he can run faster than that.
And it's actually the worst way to use the wii's functions- you can't use the laser pointer nor nunchuk sensors.

Eh, the stunts were kinda tedious in Sonic Riders, to me at least. Getting the jump right is way enough for me. And Super Sonic is a fun challenge in ZG because he's so difficult to control - but I have proven myself numerous times that you CAN win with him. In fact, one some of those Grand Prix' with him already, which got me extra-rings.
The boards are gravity-based, no problem with that, and they just got 'em because it's a spin-off.

And using the Wii's functions the way SRZG did is just fine, considering it's a RACING-game, you don't need to wave your arms around in 10¹⁰⁰ different ways for that.

Of course, you CAN win with Super Sonic- the problem is not handling-you CAN'T win with him while facing other good players (which I beat every time if I take either Sonic or Shadow). Those boards are still using air, and you see the characters flying with them in their hands in the cutscenes... it's pretty much pointless to use them if you can fly.
And the wiimote could be held in the right hand to balance with the nunchuck in the left hand. That way you can have easier access to more buttons.

From what I can see, every character can beat every other character in the game - that includes Super Sonic, no matter how skilled the other players are. Hell, I broke some of my own records using Super Sonic and I do consider myself somewhat good at that game...
Maybe they are using the boards for FUN, have you considered that? And again, it's ONLY A SPIN-OFF.
And, I think that method you just described is overcomplicating things.
If you dun like playin' with Wiimote, why not use GC-controller?

I did. after I finished the game and all the missions with gold marks I started using a GC controller to unlock more easily all the boards.
Well, I played A LOT of racing games, and this one I see as kind of a disappointment.
Why can't they create another Sonic Adventure/SA2 type of game? =(
And by the way- no, not every character can beat every character- there isn't a complete balance between them, and can't be. Play against someone your level with the worst character and see.

I unlocked everything just fine with the Wiimote - personal preference, I suppose.
They tried making another Sonic Adventure (2) style of game with Sonic '06, but were, sadly, rushed. We'll see what will become of "Project Needlemouse", though.
I think every character is balanced enough - then again, I have no one to play with, sadly. D:

Not all shortcuts are equal you know, nor are the affinity relations- for example, if you follow someone who uses power for a shortcut you can sometimes benefit from it, unlike following the speed type. Some characters are much faster than others, some courses require better steering (which only half the characters can benefit from)...
And I really preffered the story of Sonic Adventure over this game's story.
Sonic Battle was also really good.

Shortcuts even each other out, pretty much. Speaking of which, did you know that Super Sonic without rings can use shortcuts that usually require the "attack" power up?
Sonic Adventure's story was really repetitive, to me, what with it... well, repeating it's cutscenes over and over, and at least ZG had a hint of character-development for the Rogues.
... and how was that contradictive title (Sonic Battle) any good? O.o At least to me it was not...

Just to answer- Story was interesting, I liked the ability to use the other characters' moves, especially those of the characters I like most, and the feeling you are getting stronger all the time. I like self improving games. Played it over 1000 hours, beat the Virtual Training so many times that I lost count. I have all abilities EXCEPT the one I want most- the ultimate move of Shadow's chaos blast (or whatever ground power was). I never get it =(

Well, I don't have a single favorite, I like a lot of the games a whole lot... if I had to choose, I'd pick Sonic Adventure 2 (Battle) for 3D and Sonic 3 & Knuckles for 2D...
As for least favorites, I'd have to say either Sonic 2 (8- and 16-bit), Sonic Adventure (DX) or Sonic and the Secret Rings.
(All based on those games I have played so far...)

Eh, Sonic Adventure DX is glitchy, buggy, got bad music, bad voice acting, and the only real fun part was Gamma's gameplay, to me... meh, each man to his craft, I suppose.
As for, "in general", well, some of my favorite game series' would include (aside Sonic) would include Final Fantasy, Monkey Island and You Don't Know Jack.

The playthrough was still tense- you don't know what happen to others while you play as one or how it will end. And the upgrades were good. I liked going free in search of stuff, and the chao garden was also fun.
I can't determine what was the best game I played because some are from so long ago...
I think it's either Metroid Prime, or Super Paper Mario, or Fire Emblem

Eh, with a lot of parts of the story, it was pretty obvious what was happening to others in some areas ('specially Sonic in Tails' story for the most part).
Upgrades were okay, they can bring that aspect back to the games. Chao Garden was okay, I guess, much more fun in SA2B, to me, though.
Incidently, those three games you mentioned somehow all managed to bore me... maybe that's just personal preference again, though. ^^;

I am not a very tactical person, no. Super Paper Mario is just not my thing, I suppose. Too... hectic, for lack of a better term.
Metroid Prime, haven't played the first one (don't have it xD; ), did however play parts 2 and 3, and, well, never got far in them. Not much of a fan of FPS to begin with.
Never even HEARD of Heatseeker until now. xD;

MP2 and 3 weren't making many ununderstandable allusions from what I got... most of the story, I know through my brother, who loves the games, anyhow. xD;
I personally love turn-based RPGs, they're a lot of fun to me. Not so much a fan of the style of FF XII, though, that's just... eh.
Super Smash Bros. ... eh, not really a fan of it, either. Mainly because I have no one to play with and I usally suck at it, anyhow.

MP2 and 3 were a streight sequal to MP1, which told you almost everything- who is Metorid Prime, what's Phason, how did Dark Samus arrive, and many more.
So you are neither a tactics person, a deep story person, nor do you like action. How about FPS? (first person shooters)

I am a deep story person, hence my liking for Final Fantasy. Action is okay, too, if executed in a way that entertains me.

google a game called frets on fire. Its just like guitar hero, but it allows people to make their own songs. The community has put a lot of Crush 40's songs into the game. Same goes for Guitar Hero PC.
