Really? Machine guns are obviously still legal in the United States if registered with the ATF and, since 1934, exactly two murders have been committed in the US with legally owned automatic weapons. One of those murders was committed by a police officer who was using a departmental weapon. So, literally, one civilian murder in nearly 80 years nation wide with a legally owned machine gun.

For perspective, forks have been used in more murders in the last 3 years. Forks.

As for mass murder happening much more with people than governments. Stalin and Hitler combined murdered something in the neighborhood of 25 million civilians via camps, extermination programs, etc over a period of less than 20 years. It's gonna take a Hell of a lot of mass murdering individuals to top that.
