@joeinparis With tabs, which are part of the CS5 interface function, you can only see one pic at a time. While there can be several pics open, the view is indicated by which tab you've highlighted. If you want to see multiple pics at a time you can detach from the tab bar or go to the top menu "Window>Arrange>Float All in windows" to separate and show them.
Yep, Photoshop 7 doesn't have all the bells and whistles that CS5 has but if you spend time learning how to use the vector pen tool to draw around the hard edge areas of the subject and reserve the Color Range command for around the hair or wispy edge areas, then you can get decent extractions...but it just takes time and patience.
@imvunekohime When you say Photoshop 7 do you mean Photoshop Elements 7 or Photoshop 7 from 5 years ago? The Black/White Adjustment Layer did not exist for the latter. I believe it popped into the scene in CS2 or CS3.
Camtasia has a remove noise option which I use and I think that removes much of the base with the noise, hence the higher range is what's left. Just making do with what I have and keeping it simple. If there is a simple solution, let me know.
Lovely tutorial, as always! Could you please, please take care of the voiceover sound as well? Some videos sounds very thin, but others are fine. This one is one of those that sounds thin, and it kind of ruins the experience. I am a music producer and mixing engineer, so I might be too hard on you, but still...think about it.
Anyway, thanks for doing this. I've just bought CS5, and it's a stunning app. Love it!
Hello, just stubbled on your channel too exciting! I'm a new photog and just bought CS5, I think I maybe over my skis...what would you recommend to the newbies out there who want to learn photoshop.
yah where did you learn photoshop? i went to college for it and everything i learned well not everything but alot of diffrent things i learned were far diffrent then the way you teach it. i think your methods might be a little more helpful to people in most cases or atleast less stressful thats for sure!
I taught Photoshop for 9 years at our local college. I mainly learned by doing projects, asking myself questions about how things work and figuring out the "why's" so my approach to teaching has some of that experience in it. I don't use cookbooks but I still can cook sort of thing. Understanding How & Why something works gives you a more flexible skill set, part soul and part boolean logic.
I also have to give props to a few Guru's out there from 1997-2001, whose method of presenting information inspired me and made sense to me--Katrin Eismann, Scott Kelby, Ben Willmore, Russell Brown, and Andrew Rodney.
Thanks.Very clearly explained.I've watched some of your videos before, just because I've found them very interesting. Now I'm planning to start using photoshop and I'm looking forward to learn from your tutorials:)Great job.

Really liked your video, before watching I only knew like 2 methods to extract things, now I know 4 more and they are faster and give better results.

My pleasure--it was a good question that allowed for a variety of solutions to present.
