The IT crowd premiered 18 months before The Big Bang Theory , so I guess the The Big Bang Theory may be a copy of The IT Crowd. It's hard to argue the other way round just because you saw them in the wrong order..

I think people who tend to prefer TBBT like to be technical about things. My brother prefers it to the IT Crowd, and while I like both, I prefer the IT Crowd because it doesn't rely completely on geek-out humour. That little dance Moss and Roy do at the end of this clip proves that :P

I don't think the Big Bang theory is so bad, but of course the IT crowd is so much better, the same with Friends and Coupling, wich was one of the best sitcoms of all time. Britain has more sense of art, drama and humor. This sitcoms are 80% script and 20 acting and directing. That'swhy they paid so a million for each Friends episode, because they depend in who sais what and not so much on what's being said. And UK has the best rock bands ever. Gotta go there sometimes. No disrpect to US, though

- WAY to much background laughter.

- The producers is a moron, because you can't just say a bunch of geeky stuff and expect people to find it funny.

@suuunly i'm sorry but this episode among others had me rolling on the floor in hysterical laughter. The big bang theory is funny, but it never has that effect. It's more culture relevant, and is just showing relationships with caricature nerds.

In this there is always an awesome build up to the climax of the show. It has many running jokes which are only noticeable if you know the show, and some where you need to know the geek side. Not just "penny *knock* penny *knock* penny" every episode

I agree. My friends tried to make me watch Big Bang, but it was kind of dumb in comparison to IT Crowd. I've watched like 20min. of it and it was just gay jokes and references to supposedly geeky stuff... I don't know what it is, but IT crowd seems truly nerdy to me, which is what i like about it. It shows a form of self humor. Big Bang is making fun of the geeks for the rest of the world.

@goodyfun you dont really NEED to know the context of the joke but here is the setup:

jen has just won employee of the month (which the boss had drawn randomly from a hat) and this goes straight to her head and she starts acting like a big shot, moss informs her that she has to give a speech on the topic of her job (in this case IT) which she knows nothing about. roy and moss agree to write her speech to get her to say ridiculous things.

and this is the fruition of that plan.

i just saw submarine by richard ayoade and i really really like it. so i wanted to check what else his done and i came across this and i have to say this is pretty bad. sitcom, laugh tracks, cheesy jokes. this really reminds me of that extras show when the whistle blows. this is just my opinion not bashing the show or anyones taste
