July 2009: More Rock Climbing, Colorado USA

Ack, you climb! Beautiful piece of rock.. I have my full trad rack here in Tokyo thanks to Vrigin Atlantic's weird baggage policies, really want to get out on some rock soon..

You have a trad rack in Tokyo? I can't imagine you find many opportunities to use it here in Japan...living in Colorado spoiled me when it comes to climbing.

But I see trad gear for sale in outdoor shops, and Japan has lots of mountains.. So there must be some done somewhere. I'm used to spending 2 hours or so to get to some rock.

Would be happy doing some sport climbing too.. just want rocks :/

I can't imagine that the sport climbing situation in Japan is very developed...you'd probably have better luck with trad. =P

how do you get trained to rock climb? Because I know sometimes you gotta put all your body weight on like one finger....That's freakin amazing. Did you get training or have you just been doing it for a long time?

Also also...you're really tall are you like 5'11?

Rock climbing is something I've picked up over the past few years. You can take classes for it, but I've been lucky enough to know a few guys who were willing to teach me. I am definitely not so hardcore that I can do one finger pull-ups or anything.

And, I'm not that tall, only 5'7". But I also like to hear that I look taller than I really am =P
