  • WOW!!! thats only i can say, well how long did u wait 2 apply d 2nd layer?? cz ive never done wet on wet, wel im jst a beginner, dont know much bout water color and dont really get formal edu on tht

  • I'm sorry I had not seen this response until now. Thank you, and I'm not sure which layer you are speaking of?

  • youre good, quite comforting music!

however id recomment you do a white balance check on your camera, maybe you can calibrate it ones to where the plain paper appears white. otherwise there is a lot whitechange in the recording.

  • Thank you, and I only WISH I had the experience and expertise in what your stating about the video, as I havn't clue as to what you suggested. :)

  • i was wondering what watercolor paper you use? like the brand and is it hot-pressed?

your paintings are beautiful by the way

  • In this particular painting I used a cold pressed for the grain of the wood grain, it's grainier, but if I am to do a portrait, always use hot pressed, much less forgiving however much softer. :) Hope that helps, and thank you for your kind comments. :) Truly appreciative

  • I love it. =3

  • Lori, you make this appear so simple! I really enjoyed the music too.

  • me too !!

  • Very nice..Good art.

I suggest you upload the same in 'Dynamycdesi'.It is a online talent contest site for people.

  • i love it

  • when you draw a watercolor picture do you sketch an object first and then color it or do you just make a picture of object in watercolor with no sketches or rough drafts?

  • People do it in all the ways you mention, Cocoa. Some make a very detailed drawing and let the pencil marks become part of the finished painting, others will make a sketch, while others will just rough out the proportions. Depends on the subject matter and the artist.

  • Nice!

  • That is amazing!

  • I like you work and tutorial is si fine

  • Thank you Rosie? There are many tips I could share, tell me what your troubles are, and maybe I could share some help. One bit I do know, that many people are afraid of watercolor because it is so difficult to correct their mistakes, let go of this fear and just paint to your hearts content!, it's only paper and paint.

  • This was great.....loved it!

  • Thanks so much Cindy. Hoping there are more here you might like. :) Thanks for taking the time to comment. :) Lori

  • I was told when using watercolors, quality does affect your work. I'm new at this. Which watercolor brand would you recommend for best result? I was told schmincke is the best but it's just too pricey for me.Thanks.

  • I have not tried schincke althought I've heard, I mostly use Windsor and Newton, but do have some holbein. I've posted and will be posted more vlogs on questions I receive, so stay tuned will you? :) Thanks for your lovely comments.

  • Inspiration is one of lifes greatest feeling! Glad to have passed some on. The artist is:

    Artist: Wolfstone

    Song: Braes Of Sutherland

    Album: Year Of The Dog

    Time: 11:21

    Genre: World

    Label: Green Linnet

  • Lori, Thank you so much for sharing your excellent watercolor videos. They're wonderful & inspiring. I'm so glad that popular, well-known artists like you are willing to share what you have learned. I'm sure it takes up a good chunk of your time to create the videos. But I guess I'm not the only one who loves them, because I noticed that your Radishes video alone has well over 5,000 viewings - going on 6,000! Love your style, your enthusiastic use of color, your boldness and great contrast!

  • RoseAnn - Thank you for your wonderful comments, esp. coming from such a fine artist herself. ;)

  • Aren't techniques all ABOUT STYLE? I rest my case. I can appreciate you trying to "teach" but I think it be better utilized for someone wanting to be "like someone else"

  • No techniques are what you do to make your style.

  • Would this brush perhaps be large enough?

My video of My painting tools listed here under my other demos?

  • Oh another thought; Are you past learning?

  • If I were past learning, how would I ever get better?

  • I think the bottom line is what they buyers have to say and Lori you're in two or more galleries and sell a lot plus awards to boot! I don't think you have anything to worry about! And as artists we should support each other's style because there is a variety of preferences too from the buyers. God forbid we'd all be the same style and only please a handful of people!!! I love your work Lori it's bold and fresh!

  • I'm not critcsizing your style.

    It's the thechnique.

Someones "style" may be to ride a motorcycle facing backwards and that's a feat. But they'd better have practised well before doing it.

  • You're either very brave or something else to do a demo.

  • Hopefully it's the first. ;)

  • I would suggest a larger brush and an attempt to cover as much of a shape as possible with one juicy stroke. You have a tendancy to dab a bit.

    Loosten up a little.

  • I can't imagine that your only 28?? Usually someone with that type of remark has either been "taught" the Olden golden ways of watercolor, Or they think that the old "traditional ways are the ONLY way," which in my mind, isn't or shouldn't be the case. But I appreciate your input nonetheless. :)

  • Watercolor CAN be a CONTROLLING medium.. Don't fight the trying... We are all striving to "be ourselves" and when you contradict a "style" it's non worthy in my opinion. If someone wants to "go out of the normal rehlm, then more power to them" Sorry, just my feelings.. :) I wish you well, my comrade.

  • My art teacher at college was chinese and taught us chinese brush painting. I still do it. It's actually a very contemporary way to use watercolor still.

  • Seems I touched a sensitive spot with you..hahahahah

  • Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh. Yes,,, glad that you can appreciate, or atleast I hope.... :)

  • I saw the finished painting on WetCanvas, what a thrill to find the demo here. Great stuff Lori, thanks for the informative demo.

  • Thank you mpopinz.

The follow up video Part II is listed under my account too. Just FYI

  • Nice. Great wet-on-wet technique.

  • Miky - Thank you. :)

  • Wow incredible! I looks as if u have complete control over where the streaks go! It must have been really hard to do the leaves! :)

  • Thank you Oceanblu. :) Completed leaves are in part Two Video, If you are interested. :)

  • Anni - Yes, Agree - Too much sometimes. Mind of it's own. :) Smiling..!!!!

  • Thanks for sharing Lori! It truly is a labor of love, & such a great medium to work side by side with. I say that because as you know, watercolor has a mind of its own at times! Thats what makes it so wonderful to work with! Anni

  • How long did this take real time?

    Also... Fraggle Rock rules!

  • Real time at this stage was approx. 4 hours

  • Thanks! I'm horribly impatient with myself and hyper-critical... Hearing how long it's taken others helps a bunch...

  • We are our worst critic. :) Watercolor alone is a long and tedious process if you ask me, but a labor of love.

  • Raymond, My beloved hunk of a nephew, :) not to mention mentor of all higher educated ones... :) Thanks for leaving your comment/compliment?? Not sure which as I will now have to google "Fraggle Rock" :) LOL Miss you, thanks for visiting. I miss you..

  • Glassartist, ZJayne, and Joyce - Thank you soo sooo much. Your opinions mean alot coming from such great artists yourself. :)
