When my band went to Festival, this was our "easy piece." I didn't care for it at all. We played Coat of Arms for our march and A Longford Legend for our second piece. Check them out, they're really fun songs. They have amazing woodwind runs too, and the brass balances it out well. I played first part trumpet and Coat of Arms wasn't super difficult, but I definitely had to do a tiny bit of practice haha.
a little bit inconsistent at times and the part where there was dynamics ff for "Church Organ like" was not the forte I expected but overall it was a good performance
This is a digital camera. Digital cameras have microphones. The microphone adjusts to volume changes, hence the absence of dynamics. Example: 3:52, as soon as the timpani and mallets started the microphone changed the levels again.
OMG this song is sooo cool! We're playing it in band, and our concert is tomorrow...i'm the only freshman in our symphonic band, and it's so fun!!! I LOVE THIS SONG!!
Wow now I can hear why you guys took Gold at Hawaii! Very clear attacks and articulations in the beginning. towards the middle it got kinda sloppy but I can live with that. Make sure you guys follow the conductor not go by what you hear. Although it's always good to use your ears and listen across the ensemble. Very nice melodic passage. Trumpets make sure you don't sag the chords in the slow section. Play with support and confident. Very nice!
this was our easy piece ... other being Year of the Dragon :/ ... you kinda killed it ...

bleh our conductor almost never conducts the same as he does on an everyday basis at concerts
Arturo12 3 years ago 2
Even if he doesn't conduct the same everytime, you still have to go with the director. After all, that's what he's there for. To direct you!

Yes I can agree the trumpets need support, I love the melodic chords in this song
