  • ur neighbors must love u

  • hey do you want to sell this car ?

  • that was the most boring video i have seen with an irocz post another one with it going down a road burnout first then running the car ALLOUT!! irocz fan here..........................

  • What do you have in her? Sounds just like mine! (probaly does sound the same as im running no muffler to (305tpi) check my vid out. Car looks good to!

  • @IROCaTPI in this video the car was bassically all stock just a cat back..just unbolted it to hear how it sounded

  • well it seems you guys had fun going back and forth about back pressure thats awesome...a free flowing exhaust = more hp the cat and the muffler and manifolds and everything restrict hp i dont care what you say why else would you put bigger sized headers? if you run open headers you WILL gain more hp...maybe not as much on a bone stock car but if you have some other mods it will make a difference..i watched a 2000 LS1 trans am cam and full exhaust ONLY 392 RWHP then opened exhaust cutout 401RWHP

  • @Chevykidz28 yes it does help hp gain but the lack of back presure will screw you over if u plan on keeping ur car very long i've been there done that and well the car is nolonger with us. lol

  • whats up i sold my 85 iroc-z

  • Sounds great

  • sounds like a beast man. nice IROC. lemme know when you get that cat out.

  • You guys commenting, and thinking you know a little something about how exhaust gasses flow are totla morons. Back pressure is the ENEMY of power. Think for a second, when you're on the exhaust stroke, that piston has to work to push it out, more exhaust gasses in the way will only make it's job harder.

The power losses COME FROM BACKPRESSURE. It has to do with exhaust gas velocity. If you hack off your exhaust, you will have less velocity, and cooler exhaust piping, which means backpressure.

  • Whoops, leave it to me to typo when I'm calling people morons. *total* Oh well. Well kiddies, just make sure you know your shit BEFORE you post them idiotic ramblings.

Remember, backpressure is the enemy, and slow exhaust gas velocities are what will cause that backpressure. Hence power losses.

  • make sure ur makin enough backpressure.. wouldn't like to see you burn up the valves in it :) sounds good tho. the less backpressure you have the deeper it sounds but the worse it is for your car

  • no, it will may sound sweeter, but u will lose hp w/ open headers.(don't really know how to explain it) u won't have the backpressure/flow

  • Thats exactly why u lose it, that backpressue is what helps pull the exhaust from the next cylinder, but to much can work against u pushing back into the next pop, too little and and u lose that efficiency in working in perfect sync. think like a water mill, to many paddles and the water can't run smoothly, not enough paddles and the mill won't spin at max

  • Holy shit bigtony142, your backpressure rambling had to be the most pathetic one yet. Water mills, and paddles?

Backpressure is what helps PULL the exhaust from the cylinder? IS THAT WHY IT'S CALLED BACKPRESSURE?

Backpressure in exhaust systems = bad. Any damn noob knows that, it's common knowledge. Again, hacking off a muffler, yet retaining a stock exhaust diameter will cause the exhaust gasses to cool, resulting in slower flow, whichs means backpressure, that in turn, kills power.

  • When car makers make a car why would they purposely leave on a design that hinders performance, if they have that way, that have it for a reason, back pressure does pull gas from the next cylinder after it redirects toward the back end of the car, causing a good flow as you said I guess I should call it a vacuum pull, more or less I'm talking about a stock engine that can't adjust its fuel delivery. Simply put I agree with you on hacking a stock exhaust , if it was that easy there wouldn't be...

  • No, just forget it. You don't have a fucking clue as to what you're talking about. BACKPRESSURE DOES NOT PULL. It hinders exhaust gasses from taking the easiest path out, which is open space. Them gasses are forced out by the next gasses coming out of the exhaust valves, BACKPRESSURE DOES NOT HELP THAT. Backpressure puts more force back onto the piston, hence using the power of the upward motion of the piston, which is from the crankshaft. Therefore putting more force onto the crankshaft.

  • So your saying your smarter then every car designer out there? because you know their all dumb asses for using the same, as you say, flawed design for decades?

  • No, what do you not get? Car makers DO NOT GO FOR PERFORMANCE. They go for quiet, emissions compliant vehicles.

Quit trying to turn shit around, I'm sure you read that just fine.

  • I don't recall talking or ever bringing up performance, I'm merely stating that in a stock engine, with stock exhaust, and stock exhaust manifold, they work better with backpressure rather then hacking off the exhaust itself

  • With a manifold sure, but with headers? Nope.

"So your saying your smarter then every car designer out there? because you know their all dumb asses for using the same, as you say, flawed design for decades?"

That's what I was referring to.

  • I totally agree with you on performance headers, but I've been talking about a stock manifold, never once did I say headers. Of course thats my fault I never specified until now which I was talking about

  • Well then again, you seem to think that backpressure pulls exhaust gasses out. That's like pushing all of your weight up against a door and expecting someone to easily walk out of that room.

On a fuel injected car, there actually may be small gains with an open manifold. On a stock type carbureted engine, most likely not. EFI engines can simply just adjust the fuel/air ratio so there are no burnt valves, and possibly a performance gain.

  • Ok Let me re-phase it, Its not so much pulling, I know it expands against the other cylinders but once it gets past that initial trapped phase and starts heading out the only exit it sorta creates a steady stream of gas follow which is ok for stock and for people who don't mind having a totally stock car, but as a racing fan I agree with you where back pressure is the enemy. Simply put I just wanna say don't hack a stock exhaust just get a performance exhaust system if you wanna gain HP

  • You're thinking of expansion pipes dealing with two strokes. They don't necessarily use the backpressure. They use the exhaust wave vibrations created in the expansion chamber by the gasses. It essentially forms a vacuum to suck out the exhaust gasses. It's needed to run more efficiently, since most two strokes that run expansion pipes are running well over 10,000 RPM.

I used to run my YZ250 with no silencer, just the expansion pipe, well head pipe, and I noticed a gain in throttle response.

  • @kcole939 exactly

  • there wouldn't be performance exhaust created, plz I'm not a noob

  • wish my car was that clean and glossy. nice, better yet, bad ass ride. keep her purrying!

  • taking that cat off will make it a lot louder

  • note to self... illegal in the state of california =]

  • and in mass...

  • and in everywhere?

    def in texas...

  • not illegal in sc. if its too loud you might get a ticket, but its hard to see that a car doesnt have a muffler if you don't have vehicle inspections or emissions tests...

  • lol indeed it is..thas y i keeps mine on =D

  • nice original irocz what is it a 85

  • its a 86

  • Comment removed

  • @eli310 all 86's have the 3rd tailight on the back window

  • nice camaro and sweet sound

  • ear orgasim. lol sweet ride

  • your better off goin open headers

  • i took my cat off completly it goes straight into a flowmaster super 40 and believe it or not but i got a TRUE duel exhaust ran on it(took forever) and i love it

  • You're better off just cutting out part of the Y pipe and clamping the cutout in place behind the cat, so you don't get hassled with inspections.

  • yea i am going to have the cut out welded in before the cat..and i am leaving it in...i dont need it for inspection because it is exempt from emissions...but i dont want it to sound to raspy

  • nice 86 iroc-z
