The general consensus seems to be that they were married. My personal belief is that Jack stuck to the sibling story to protect Meg (and himself) from having to answer questions about whether his lyrics were autobiographical.

The way Jack protected the band throughout the interview with Charlie is very consistent with how I've seen him respond to questions in other interviews about their relationship and the meaning of his lyrics. I think they were married, split on good terms, and he has been protective of her ever since.

My two daughters like Jack and Meg- most of their taste is off center, but really interesting. The younger one (3 YO) just saw "Icky Thump" and loved seeing a girl on drums, she has been a fanatic of drums since seeing Cliff Hoad (Kings of the Sun) play "Drop the Gun." My older daughter is playing the violin, guitar, and harmonica. They also like old style country, some modern stuff (Taylor Swift, they are girls), rock, and whatever.
