  • This guy is a boss! He goes over every scenario that can happen when you're rolling and how to prevent it. If anyone, this is the guy you should be learning from

  • Will this pin in wrestling

  • This works well!

  • @lordpeter515

Cause he obviously know what you wanna know.

  • what the hell is this guy a white belt??? why is he teaching?

  • @lordpeter515 In BJJ it takes a long time to go through the grades. You can be a white belt and still have a very high skill level.

  • You're supposed to grab the back of your own head, not his. There is much more pressure that way.

  • Is he wearing a grey belt?

  • THANKS for inclusion of quality captioning - so important for millions. Keep up the good work and tell others! ccacaptioning is one place to support the effort. Cheers.

  • holy molly its vin diesel!!!!!!!

  • keep pressing 7 and he humps him :P

  • 2222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222 and a thumbs up....

  • LOL keep pressing 2 lots of times an thumbs up so people can see it LOL!

  • keep tapping 8 and hes playing the drums on his head :P

  • I geat the sweep on thae same side I lock it up on, yhen finish it on top.

  • idk why people would be thinking about gay shit anyway

  • ME LIKE THIS!

  • this any good for MMA?

  • Comment removed

  • @Anarchy05

actually scratch that, if done with your legs it's good, this version only works on suckers

  • @fudge1monkey

Yeh a normal triangles good for MMA =p Speaking of suckers I got a one last friday night xD Dont see it happening again though, he was a noobie.

  • i have choked this one kid out in a school fight wit a triangle choke!! great way to deal with bully's like the one i dealed with now my rep is better and he fears me!!! HAHAHAHAHA

  • Im gonna roll with a couple guys on monday and I should be able to get this.

  • this looks like a very strength orientated move and seems really low precentage if your smaller or weaker than your oppenent.

  • why does the guy on top have his right hand in the collar, thats how you get armbared, this is not how you do an arm triangle choke this is stupid.

    Spencer Kristich

white belt under kioto bjj grandmaster fransisco mansur (9th degree red belt)

  • @kristichelw i have seen alot of people hold on to the collar it is very common when trying to gi choke...and yes that is a proper arm triangle from the bottom if you were on top you would kick your legs out to the side to pull in on there neck more

  • @kristichelw its a fucking demonstration. hes not going to be pushing hardout on the dude hes just placing his hand there. Stop gloating and get your head out of the clouds.

  • @kristichelw because if the guy whos gaurd your in is not very experienced he could choke him out.

  • I'm in a beginning ju jitsu class, I could really use this move in sparring. I shouldn't spar though for a long time. I cracked my rib a few weeks ago.

  • That's why you need strong posture when you're in someones guard.

  • ok don't get me wrong i have all he respect for martial arts but this looks so gay...

  • @11gugler11 Dude, totally what I thought when I first started. I've learned a few sex moves to use on girls in the class. it's kinda hot in bed.

  • @11gugler11 it's only gay if you make eye contact

  • @element131x or if you get a woodie from rubbing up against another guy. ;)

  • @element131x it's only gay if face touches balls... OH WAIT

  • but eye contact might mean that you are in a safe position though

  • LOL if you close your eyes n just listen to the video, at 0:42 it sounds like a guard position sEx-mOvE..... where it makes me laugh tho is when he says, "i scoop my his out slightly to the side" it sounds like he puts 'feelings' into wut hes sayin

  • Comment removed

  • can't see the video at all... just words...

  • For the people complaining they can't see the video because of the text, note there's a button near the fullscreen button that has 'cc', click it & the text will disappear.

  • wtf !!!! the fuking letter !!! you stupid bitch !!!

  • I cant see anything for the text?

  • on a side note: anyone stupid enough to grab the cross-side lapel while inside the guard deserves to get submited

  • Even that way the dude taps is beast. Just one big slap. lol

  • @CWShock i know you see that lol, he taped the ground and it shook.

  • How can you not love the arm triangle!? It's such a fantastic and effective move, allows you to submit even much physically superior opponents...

  • one time i was rolling with this lady and she did the arm triangle on me. i didn't wanna tap, and a few minutes later people were smacking my face trying to wake me. this works.

  • @TheRealTingAling You should learn how to sit and pray

  • @TheRealTingAling Musta felt like a few minutes later, but in reality musta been just a few seconds.

  • @TheRealTingAling how does if feel being choke out, ive never been out but it seems scary as shit

  • @malau1995 you don't even notice you faint. one second, your trying to fight it, the next, you're gone. it's just like falling asleep, you don't notice it.

  • @TheRealTingAling errr some shit jiujitsu teachers if they are smacking u or your talkin shit lol

  • @mattgoeswestking errrr yea man lets get a bucket of ice water and throw it on the mat, they were probably just touching 'is face to wake em up they wake up in a matter of secs annyway

  • @Gazjocalcate hold there legs up and the blood goes to the brain easy

  • @mattgoeswestking this happend the other night the guy only passed out for about 4 secs anyways.

  • @TheRealTingAling They invented the tap for a reason, you know :P

  • @TheRealTingAling haha, same thing happened to me..It was big, tough nurse..She had me in half guard and I was show-boating..Next thing you know I started to black out

  • @doof1025 In his defense he has massive body control in that guard so he wasn't that easily kimurad...

  • Comment removed

  • @doof1025 He was turning around for the camera, that is the only reason he had his hand on the mat.. and wtf why would I need a new gym? Mine has a Gracie black-belted trainer :(

  • Comment removed

  • @doof1025 Wow nice comment removal, too bad I can still read them in my emails.

  • awesome!!! another one for the toolbox

  • The Gracies are so proud of their BJJ but this art isn't really theirs. They basically copied almost all of their moves from the Japanese art "JUDO" and, as you see, they focus more on the ground game (newaza). If you study Judo you'll learn the same moves.

  • @BDRioga While BJJ came from the lineage of Kodokan Judo, BJJ has many moves and techniques applied that aren't find in other arts. BJJ is truly unique in itself. And yes the reason we have BJJ is because of the Gracie family. The Judoka Mitsuyo Maeda began training Carlos Gracie, and the art form known as BJJ spawned from there.

  • @dirtyminded604

It is truely amazing how many people who do Judo think that the Gracies "stole" their moves from Judo. It started as Judo. Helio Gracie modified the techniques to work better for smaller men, and thus BJJ was born. BJJ is a refined version of Judo, made to be more effective in fights. Thanks for spreading the truth :P Instead of being a knuckle-headed Judo guy trying to argue how their art is the EXACT same, when it clearly is not.

  • mmmm... tht McDonald's commercial made me get an Angus double quarter pounder! :D

  • Hehe I used slight variation this in a fight when I was a kid almost 20 years ago. Seems like common sense from natural instinct, not only skill.

  • He Could Of Kimura'd you?

  • this is a good move when i do it though i like to lock my arms together like the d'arce chocke but instead of putting the hand to the back of his head i bring it to my ear like holding a telephone but i believe it works just as good as the way u showed here

  • No advanced grappler will grab the collar that way when he is in the guard. The technique is good Ive tapped people with it, but you need to set it up with sweeps for instance.

  • Arm triangles are truly hard to acquire from the guard. But it may also be my technique this might be a help to me.

  • @mexifri I always used to do this move without the choke. Its very easy. Now I just gotta implement the choke this time.

  • for patrickangus - tiene que ver - have to do

What does no se que have to do with no se que..

  • LONGMAN

  • nazis and jiu jitsu... interesting lol

  • what does nazism or communism have to see with a BJJ video??enjoy the jujitsu and let politic appart

  • i like this move but you never see it much. you see people attempt it but always look shocked when it doesn't work.

  • Great video Don, I've been looking for this detailed, I was missing the hip going out. Thank you!

  • rumblefish... I wasn't sure if you were agreeing with me or disagreeing..since your comment can be taken two ways. Did you mean for me not to listen to that clown, or were you calling me the clown?

  • bom

  • All those fancy moves.....Why not just punch him in the face now that your at it?

  • @ILATINiko You rarely strike from the bottom because 1.) punching upwards reduces the effectiveness of the punch; and 2.) you open yourself up to get passed by letting the guy on top posture up. If he passes, you're in a worse position than before.

  • How much for the bad boy gi ;p ?

  • this dude is tank but this particualar move, i dont like. other than that he is amazing

  • yea arm triangle chokes are bush league

  • @francog..Bush league??? If you aren't kidding, then you are either a troll or an idiot...maybe both.

  • get the fuck out of here i've benn training bjj for a few months now and i think this submission isn't that good even my instructor's tell me it's not effective and i know from experience aswell.

  • @Francog23 ..stop diddling your kid sister for about three minutes, then check how many times triangle choke have won MMA matches alone, not just BJJ, then come back here, apologize for being a fuckwad, and go back to diddling your kid sister.

  • i don't have any brothers or sisters by the way..asshole

  • Don't listen to this clown mapache11. It says at the top of the page "beginning Jui Jitsu moves." You have the right to you're view. Few things irritate me more than these garbage mouth jerks who, not only don't pay attention, but they also feel the need to insult people they don't know. Keep training and listening to your instructor.

    Peace, Rumblefish

  • @44rumblefish ..thanks dude...There is a reason that instructors are called insstructors, unfortunately after a few months some people think they know more than the guys teaching them.

  • lol ur a fucking idiot you didn't even back anything you said up other than "your not qualified to say that" i enjoy doing bjj and even take some pride in doing it, and were do you do bjj if your such a master of fighting? Just drop this whole argument you know your wrong when you have more than one person over the internet disagreeing with you, at this point your just making yourself look like an idiot, and jerking off in my moms underwear? wtf does that even mean thats just wrong

  • Arm triangles form the guard are bush league. they require so much strength that maybe the reason why they have won in MMA matches.

  • I train BJJ and I find different submissions work better depending on who's doing them, their body size and type, and their opponents body size and type. I also find that you take what your opponent gives yo- if someone is open for a guillatine I take it, or an armbar I take that- i dont try to force a technique that isn't there. Guys with long arms can do the arm triangle choke better than guys woth short arms- I find this technique difficult to do to guys with bigger shoulders.

  • yea thats true i do the same thing but at the same time i'll try to get the most effective sub i can. I only really use arm triangle chokes on ppl who don't know that many subs, i find that with gi on there are far more effective and more painfull chokes to do from half guard or side controll.

  • Franco...what makes you qualified to say anything is only that you have a mouth (or in this case fingers). It doesn't mean you are right. By your logic (that the more people that agree with something, the more it must be right) then the Nazis were right, the Communists were right, and anywhere else that a majority of people agreed with flawed, corrupt, immoral sytems.

  • yea im pretty shure more ppl were against the nazis in the world so thats a dumb point, it's my opinon i don't like the submission so i have the right to say what i find effective and not effective, at the very least i have more of a right to judge a submission more than you. And rumblefish was clearly insulting you

  • @Francog23 ..."Don't listen to this clown mapache11." Is rumble saying to YOU not to listen to me?? Or is he saying to me, not to listen to you?? It most certainly is NOT clear, since he didn't write @franco, but he did say mapache11. It is like me saying to you, "Don't play in traffic Franco."

  • @Francog23 ..the Nazis couldn't have killed that many people without the compliance, indifference and help of a majority of the people in the countries they controlled. I didn't say the WORLD, I said "anywhere else that a majority of people agreed with flawed, corrupt, immoral sytems". Read it again. Then again, I am debating someone who can't spell "sure", so maybe reading isn't your strength.

  • thats all you got to say, trying to insult vocabulary over the internet... And what does that comment have anything to do with what i said about bjj? and if you think rumblefish was on your side than maybe reading isn't your strengh. this argument isn't going anywhere say what you want from here on im not going to waist anymore of my time on an idiot like you.

  • @Francog23 ... "Don't listen to that guy Billy " Are they talking TO Billy? Or about Billy?? Without a comma after "guy", he is talking about Billy. With a comma, it would be TO Billy. But since youtube is not a venue of correct punctuation, we can't really know who rumble was talking to. I was insulting your spelling not vocabulary. Your "waist" is near your hips. Your parents aren't going to "waste" time making any more feeble-minded offspring. Go away now, the smart people want to talk.

  • alright THIS is my last comment first of all don't tell me to go away when i say that im not going to comment again thats just pussy. And i have a 78 average in highschool academics. Im an IEP student and have bad spelling thats far from being stupid, nice try though. Your nothing but a coward behind a computer screen talking shit to someone who you'll never see in your life so talk all the shit you want in the world keyboard cowboy nodody over the internet can stop u, have a good one douchebag.

  • @Francog23 KEYBOARD WARRIORS lol have you noticed that KBW's are also OUTSTANDING grammatical teachers of the English language so that when they don't have enough to insult you that they use the rules of grammar in your posts as an insult as well. Fucking Fantastic wait, i just capitalized a word that did not need to be capitalized and used profane language I MAY BE NEXT!!! Don't worry what ever makes his dick feel good in his hand or keeps they clit warm at night BTW great beginner video

  • @jdub99zulu lol some guys on the internet feel the need to try and make fun of people over the internet because they need to feel better about themselfs but they just don't have the guts to do it to someone face to face, i find the whole thing hilarious

  • @Francog23 Yep Keyboard Warriors.

  • >>and I never said I was a master of fighting. I said that the opinion of some newbie BJJ fighter, of a submission that has been used effectively for hundreds of years as "bush league" is both ridiculous and ilinformed at the same time.

  • @Francog23 ..you've been training "a few months" and you think you are qualified to call traingle chokes "bush league" ????

  • im actually qualified to say whatever i want, and i don't find it effective and i guess you just kinda ignored how i said that my instructors said that it's not a good sub and i never said that triangle chokes sucks it's actually my fav one to do i said ARM TRIANGLE chokes are bad

  • @Francog23 ..how do you consider yourself qualified. By your own admission you have only been training a few months.

A little less time jerking off into your mom's underwear and more time in the gym, and in a few YEARS you should be qualified to comment.

  • @Francog23

Maybe for you. The arm triangle (from mount/side control - not guard) is my favorite and most effective submission.

The triangle on the other hand just doesn't seem to work for me. I've been training for 6 months, averaging 6 hours a week and I still haven't triangled anyone in rolling.

Then again, I'm not very good on my back... I can count on one hand the number of times I've submitted someone from bottom.

  • "snake" to take the back..that was too slow, if I tried that, they wouldnt just let me take their back, they would roll with me or get out...

  • luis that is why you have to keep it tight and then "snake" quicker than he did to take the back....i promise you if this guy was in a real fight it would have been way faster than that but this vid is for demonstration purposes

  • you can get him with the legs to.. first you get his arm stuck just like how it was shown then you can put your left/right leg over the other arm to go by his neck. then your going to move the arm you got stuck to the opposite side and then move your other leg up on the legs ankel then push his hed down into your body...

  • type in "grappling little and phil", guy wins with an arm triangle from side control

  • bjj and judo mma = you die

  • @zemnoz dont forget wrestling

  • boxing + muaythai + take down defence brutalizes that tool box.

  • @djds19 in simple terms Anderson Silva

  • @zemnoz. Hell yes

  • @zemnoz - Bjj is all about control. In boxing and takedown defence you are more offensive, but all the Bjj fighter has to do is get in close to you were your punches dont do anything. Then he can control you and trap an arm for an armbar when you punch at him.

  • @zemnoz lol untill you meet melvin manhoef 0zero ground game but he destroys people also kille da gracie ;p

  • @zemnoz

bjj and judo are nice for when you want to fight competitions, not if you're attacked on the street.

  • @Insanitea

I woudn't say that. Often in street fights they are more than one on one but think of it. Hopefully if the opposite fighter hasn't trained any ground martial art, you can just pull him down on the ground, make your chokes and bam. Its huge advantage.

  • @0VSM0

my team also trains in groupfighting, you dont have time to pull this kind of stuff off.

  • It's better to reverse the situation before executing the choke. when you control his neck just turn him around and us your bodymass for a stronger choke. - black belt judo speaking

  • guy died at the end:DDD LMAO

  • works much better from top position, too easy to escape if down from bottom, but none the less don daly knows his shit

  • if you get caught in this you fucking suck.

  • This was a really nice clip, informative, basic stuff. I learned from this. I will start BJJ v. soon.

  • type in "grappling Little and Phil", guy wins with an arm triangle from side control

  • this never works for me iv had to stop doing this cuz every time i attempt this choke i end up crushing the back of his neck and thats no bueno...

  • i think the guy is dead at the end. He looks completed starfished....

  • the best really is having a very good striking and very good wrestling skills or BJJ because if you are a pure BJJ your dead on the stand up. If your very good striker you can defense when ur down. Its really best to know the best in the ground and stand up

  • i just would want to become GSP lol

  • i like watching bjj but i think judo could be more useful

  • Not really. Judo is only useful for getting them to the ground. If you've got no bjj you can't do anything once you get there.

  • the current pure sports based judo yeah, tho original judo has ALOT of ground game, it depends alot on the kind of instructor you have, but judo also has a very good ground game.

  • true but if do a nice throw on cement it could hurt the dude pretty bad

  • Comment removed

  • im taking it that many people dont know, but in Judo you learn submissions also

  • but judo is mainly about throws right? and when there on the floor its about control

  • No, Ur right judo IS mostly about the Tachi Waza the standing aspect aka throws, BJJ is mostly about the Ne Waza the ground game both came from Japanese Jiu Jitsu and Aikido came from Japanese Jiu Jitsu too. If you wanna be the best GI grappler Do Judo and BJJ. If you wanna be the best No Gi grappler then do No-Gi BJJ with Wrestling. PC Bro.

  • @dohboiii but its minly throws right ? bjj mainly focuss on moving around the body and looking for openings to defeat your opponent instead if using throws u focus on submissions more than judo does

  • @LPFAN1777 yes, judo's strong point is throws. Depending on where you learn it, u may or may not do submissions. But remember, jiu jitsu came from judo.

  • @dohboiii um, it was Judo that came from Ju Jitsu. As did BJJ and several other styles. :)

  • @dohboiii the only difference i've really found between between jujitsu and judo is less emphasis on locks when sparing, as its dangerous to get someone in a lock while there trying to throw you/fall down. arms and legs can get broken.

  • @dohboiii yea but theyre shitty and require a gi

  • @sisudo21 they don't require any gi as long as you can improvise

  • @dohboiii Ya a few

  • Judo has got a lot of groundwork, it's called newaza. Judo is more focused on throws though but don't underestimate its groundwork,

  • judo=bjj without leg locks

  • no judo is judo and bjj is bjj you=fuckin stupid

  • I have nothing against BJJ, but the Japanese police arrived at the same conclusion...

  • All fights end up on the ground. BJJ has proven it beats all other styles of fighting for that simple reason. All fights end up on the ground.

  • except you are ko with a punch, you go to the ground to sleep

  • DrFumbles2010, to answer your question about amateur wrestling, chokes are illegal. you can perform certain moves that make it hard to breathe in order to pin your opponent but blatant chocking is strictly illegal. The closest move to qualify as choking would be a triangle around the head such as a leg cradle. Most moves that would actually choke an opponent are very difficult to perform. Hope this more than answers your question.

  • seen them use there forearm b4 is that now barred withelbows?

  • The forearm move is a crossface, meant to turn an opponent's head. It is not a choke.

  • it is a choke becuase it restricts his coronary arteries and stops his breathing

  • Dr Fumbles' question was about using a crossface in amateur wrestling, and if it was a choke, he was not asking about the move in the video. One cannot choke in amateur wrestling,

A wrestling crossface does not restrict the coronary artery, nor does the arm triangle for that matter, that would be the carotid artery.

  • I got a quick question. In amiture wresteling, like in high school, is it illegal to choke someone with your arms, or hands? i know you can use BJJ in like real life fights, and like MMA, but im just asking about amiture wresteling.

  • Simple, well explained, relatively easy to learn. Not bad for an expert village video.

  • As some have stated before BJJ can be used in the street, but with other techniques, these should be combined to do the job. No rules on the street, but BJJ can be used with eye and throat strikes, groin stikes, whatever works. One also should never go looking for fights and avoid them at all costs. Better to avoid a fight then have to fight. Now if one is fighting to protect their lives, then that is the rule, not fighting to fight or because someone insulted you manhood, wife, or mom

  • I have found that if you are looking for self defense you need to lern the most simple and effective techniques becase during the adrenaline rush you can't react as well, and they have even shown this with blackbelts, even though many will say the studies are crap, but I have seen highly trained people blow it because of adrenalin.

So use the basics, add strikes, and be creative.

  • you should not use jui jitsu as self defence, and the adrenaline thing you said is not true, iv been fighting all my life and in the dojo we learn too work with the adrenalin so we dont screw it up, but we only do that in mma training i guess, in jui jitsu comps i dont get adrenaline i dont know if other people do :S do you?

  • Scienc has shown time and time again the adrenalin rush is real, it is apart of the fight or flight, and training in the dojo is one thing, but fighting for your life in a combat zone, or on the street is another.

Now BJJ alone should not be used on the streets, but some techniques will work conbined with other techniques from other styles.

  • no i have had more fights than you can imagine inside the ring inside the cage and street fighting, adrenalin tells you either go str8 in or run the fuck away, i work with it and dont go str8 in, fight smart rather than swing swing swing get me?

and i mean bjj isnt a self defence art in my mind, for self defence id choose taekwondo or similar things, in my taekwondo class we sometime do drills like me against 3 people and i have too take them with minimal injury, thats good self defence no bjj

  • if the taekwondo u learn is only kicks as i hear it, then u are seriously mislead as to be able to defend yourself in a street fight. almost all fights end up on the floor, if u dont know any grappling, the guy who knows it will destroy you.

also, taekwondo was put in the olympics due to the fact that it was a flashy sport that entertained watchers due to dynamics.

BJJ was made for fighting well on the ground against all weights. i did karate, muay thai, and ive fallen in love with BJJ.

  • nope we do punches kicks, takedowns and locks (grappling)

  • i also trained in muay thai for 7 years, and jiu jitsu 4 years (3 years then one year break and now been doing it again for one year)

  • If TKW is only about strikiing and stuff then I have something to teach...

  • Absolutely right about that. BJJ is not at all flashy, in fact it mostly looks like a couple of guys rolling around on the floor, but real fights DO end up on the ground, usually in about 30 seconds or less, and once the Jiu-Jitsu man gets his opponent down, he owns him. I've had more than one karate black belt tell me they never spar with Jiu-Jitsu black belts because they always lose. A really skilled practicioner of BJJ has an answer for every possible move you can make against him.

  • no i do taekwondo and we learn selfdefense standing and on the ground, we also do throws and we learn some mma submissions.
