Saying that they are committing sacrilege is pretty harsh, not to mention blatantly wrong. Why would they not just leave it at a loving friendship? You do know that there are legal benefits for being married, right? And on top of that, it certainly isn't unreasonable to want to have what everyone else who's as in love as they are can.

The obvious answer is that people fail to recognize the dignity of their own life as well as the value and dignity in the lives of others.

So too with marriage. If sexuality has a purpose and intended to be expressed in a certain way then it is a travesty for people to think they can just innovate on an institution meant to fulfill that purpose on account of their feelings.
