why did they allow Tom Brokaw to report it. U can tell that he cant hold back the tears. smh. So sad. I didnt really watch TIm Russert too often but i remember when he died. He seemed like such a nice genuine person. He was obviously loved. R.I.P.
Fifty-eight years young. Was he "heart-attacked"? Was it his point-blank, on-air questions to George Bush and John Kerry about their membership in Skull and Bones? (Find these clips on youtube.) Yep, it mighta been.
Tim is still missed so much! He showed so much passion & knowledge for whatever he was discussing. I think, by far, he was the best host of Meet the Press. Loved big Russ. Greatly respected Brokaw! Luke looks & acts just like Tim;. He's got a great career in front of him. RIP Tim.
He was younger than Stephen J Cannell he died in 2010 and it's a coincidence that his death was also on NBC Nightly News as well and it's report is also available on YouTube.
This bulletin interrupted NBC's live coverage of the second round of the U.S. Open Golf Tournament.
The golf announcer said "We're going to break away for an NBC News Special Report". I was watching at the time, and I thought that perhaps it was going to be about a major development in the Presidential campaign.
@Grouchomx My sentiments also. Loved big Russ, greatly repect Brokaw. Real journalists. Unlike the psuedo journalists at Fox. Those partisan stiffs aren't qualified to carry the soiled shorts of the above mentioned duo of Russert/Brokaw. Tim's son looks like a chip off the old block. A real pro already.
I am still crying. Especially now, during this historic election---Tim is missed very much. He was my "bible" during elections. My heart is breaking, again, and still.
Every Sunday Meet the Press was the show that I look forward to and Tim was the best in the business. The loss is too much, but the spirit lives on. Tim we miss you! And Sunday would not be the same..
The announcement by Brokaw was broadcasted on NBC. They broke into the US Open golf coverage to announce the sad news. After the special report ended, NBC went back to golf.
I guess working with Queif Olbermann would drive anyone into an early grave. Sadly, NBC has lost the last grain of credibility it had with the loss of Tim Russert. I fully expect NBC make its complete transformation into Air America now that Russert's gone.

Of all of journalism deaths, this was the most brutal. 2000 Election coverage was legendary.

I get choked up every time I see this. Brokaw is one of my heros and to see him this flustered just makes it all the more profound.

In honor of Russert's untimely passing, butt Queif Olbermann will only be burning half a flag tomorrow.

Even in death you must politicize his passing?
WATITDOO16 3 years ago 3
Wow, you have no class to use his death to make a cheap political point. I don't know why I'm surprised anymore....
