The Flyers were a paper tiger that year. They had a great first line with Forsberg setting up Knuble and Gagne, but their 2nd/3rd lines were average and their defense was horrific(Rathje and Hatcher) and mediocre goaltending. That would end up catching up to the Flyers in the 2006-07 season.
That was such an awesome game! It's funny, I hear so many bad things about Philly fans but when I was at that game the ones I talked to were extremely friendly; it was probably one of the most fun games I've been to at the RBC.
Philly fans aren't bad at all...they're just really passionate. Anything they say, just take it with a grain of salt...alot of stuff about Philadelphia is overblown. Besides, even if they are classless or crude...ya can't really blame them, haha. I mean, its been like 25 years since they've won a major championship. And there is no other city that has experienced heartbreak in sports like Philly has lol...well you could throw the Red Sox in...
Buffalo has Philly beat in terms of heartbreak, IMO. Still, I really dislike Sabres fans I've met at games (obviously there have been some nice ones, because most of them seem like drunk assholes), but most Philly fans I come across are really nice.
I can see that since Buffalo has never won a major championship...but they haven't really had enough great teams to feel heartbreak like Philly. From 1995-2004...the Flyers had teams good enough to win the Stanley Cup, 1993 Phillies were good enough win the World Series(See Carter's walk HR), Eagles should have won the 2005 Superbowl.Plus, Philly has 4 major sports compared to Buffalo's 2. However, i will admit that it must have been depressing to be a Bills fan in the superbowl era for them.
Yeah, the Bills made it to the SB 4 straight times and lost every single time. The Sabres got screwed in 1999 (although Dallas was a much better team IMO), got riddled with injuries in 2006, and choked in 2007. The only professional team in Buffalo that's won a championship is their lacrosse team, the Bandits. And we all know the Lacrosse league is a joke in the States

Thats how we got our fans. Kinda sad way to get it, but in the end, we've got the best house in the NHL..
Great game. John Forslund made it even more exciting.

Bobby Clarke should've traded Rod Brind'Amour for Keith Primeau.
Sure, Primeau had a great 2004 Stanley Cup Playoffs for the Flyers, but Rod won the Stanley Cup.
joesakic91 5 years ago
Also, Primeau had to retire due to concussion problems. Brind'Amour has been relatively healthy throughout his career.
