  • Why is it unappropriate to use your fingers? You are at a mamak stall, USE YOUR FINGERS! If we were at a chinese store we would use chopsticks! NO DOUBLE STANDARDS!

  • As far as I know, as long there's banana leaf rice, it ain't a mamak stall and Mamak is an Indian Muslim. To me, places that sells banana leaf rice are just Indian Curry house restaurants.

  • Mamak is the shorter version of the name Mohammed. Kedai Mohammed= kedai mamak. Try saying Mohammed fast, Five times Malay style and you then get the idea.

"Adik, pegi kedai Mohammed beli kelapa parut satu biji"

  • @kannurkarran

"mamak" comes from "Māmmā", tamil word for maternal uncle (uncle from your mother side)

  • @RedPlumJam

I know that mamma means maternal uncle in Tamil.

But that was no reason for them to choose to refer to them as their maternal uncle.

    Aavle Marriyadhi kuddikkele.

  • lol this is a great documentary even if it is a parody. love for mamak...

  • mamak food are very expensive and unhygienic. better don't go and waste your money.

  • bangsar rite?

  • hi there, can anyone gimme ideas how to do a documentary for a mamak? my lecturer does not want too much of interviews,....

    any ideas

  • Watch an existing documentary about restaurants or food culture, and draw inspiration from it.

  • you guys are funny.. cool video..

  • That's where I got the inspiration from. Thanks for noticing.

  • You miss some more important criteria:

    1. You have to wave like crazing to make sure the 'ane' notice you esp during peak hours.

    2. Most waiters are not Malaysian. They are expatriate from India, and may not understand Malay or English.

    3. The famous "Sekali or asing" question when to pay.

  • Thanks for the input. The amateur project was done with a deadline so we could not fit it too many things.

  • Well.. considering it as a last-minute project, i guess that'll do. Hope to see more of you guys' creativity in the near future..

    MALAYSIA BOLEH

  • Educational nye lah..

  • Mamak should be said as Mama', a silent k.

  • I love eating mamak, although mine is in Singapore. This video is horrible for people that are homesick for local food. Oh how I miss Roti Prata! That shot with the curry dipping made my mouth water!

  • some background music would add to the humour...its funny but sounds like a cricket match commentary, without the crowd.

  • Interesting take on the mamak experience! I was hanging on for a raunchy section at the end, but no such luck - I should have known after the guy with the roti canai got 'shok' from the food alone.

  • miss the life man!

  • genius

  • I liked it.

  • haha..way to go dude!!

  • the information provided is lame. eg, to order, state the food and drinks of your choice. Everywhere else in the world people do that, mate. not just in mamak. Good topic, but you are not even talking about the hwo the malaysian mamak stall is unique. stick to add maths. LOL

  • It's just for parodical purposes only, plus it's a college assignment dude. Add maths? Who are you?

  • muahaha~!!

  • its a malaysian lifestyle...

  • it seems like an amature video.....but a very informative one..

  • So funny! I'm glad I found this...thanks for sharing it!
