Think of it this way, the Devil is tempting Isaac, and has a genuine sincere voice because Isaac wouldn't listen to a harsh, demonic one. He comes across as his friend so Isaac lets his guard down and willingly gives up his soul/life for the power ups he provides.

Seen Giant Bomb Quick Look. It looks and plays really good. It was made in 120 days. It glitched twice in the GB demo and there are some bugs in the Steam forum. With only one save file, you may have to replay the game if your your auto save becomes corrupt. The price is right.
