The first time I saw Steve Miller and Norton Buffalo was in 1991 at a sold out show at Spartan Stadium in San Jose...

... ZZ Top was the Headliner with Steve Miller, Extreme, and Eric Johnson as opening acts...

... Steve Miller blew them all away!!!

Ever since then I've tried to catch his shows in WA and, in my opinion, he's never ever put on a bad performance in over 30 years.

They are pretty much following the studio version. It may be the audio throwing it off for you. You also have to consider he is 30yrs older since he recorded it. I think he still sounds great.

I was there! This song cost Steve $10,000 because he broke the City of Santa Barbara's 10:00 curfew, he didn't seem to mind though. Joe Cocker was a headlining act and not an opening act in my opinion. What a great night of great rock and roll music!
