I have a 340i and coolant seems to be leaking from the end of the shaft that goes to the pully, it looks as though it's comming out where ths shaft sticks out of the housing. I assume the water pump is bad. From watching you video It looks like the exact same car. Great video, Thanks!
You also can take the ac belt off by slowly and gently turning the 13mm bolt at the top of the shock with a wrench, then just slip the belt off. Hi tack gasket sealant is king, spin on the fan then start the car for a min it will tighten it self. Hope that saves you some time the next go round. ps Aftermarket pumps are Junk
The expansion tank is not just a bucket to hold coolant. The tank has intricate channels that hold fluid for the coolant level sensor and the level indicator. Also the system is closed (Pressurized, unlike American cars. Once those little bits and pieces start to become brittle, the low level coolant warning will start going off and give false reports. Or the level indicator will not rise or worse remain up to give a false level reading. Better Safe than Sorry.

My E38 735i (with 70,000 miles) has just developed exactly the same fault. Your video had been really useful. Thanks very much.
