the wai kru is done in the ring to scare the oponent, wai kru is done to honur the legend boxer wai kru,buddha,trainer and also get forgivens from the King of Thailand for the blood and violence done in the ring. Also if you look at the wai kru and if you are a regullar to muay thai fight`s in thailand you can see who is going to win by how well he do his wai kru. Because we believe that Thai boxing has been around for quite sometime now so there are people protecting it, in this case its not human but a spirit of the founder of Thai boxing or Muay Thai.So we have to respect those spirit"Wai Kru" is we translate it in to english it's to obey teacher guess that explain it. Also its to scare out the apponent.

1) Religious?

2) Pray for the god? I have heard that he pray for the 4 corners of the stage, and the god will bless him during a fight.
