thegdin, I myself am an atheist but I actually dont have a problem with an induvidual who has a spiritual belief. In fact, I support people to have a sence of spirituality if that is what helps them; the idea is real even if the thing that the idea represents isnt. I only have a problem when theists try to shove their religion down your throat and assume that they understand the objecive truth of the universe. So I would say if you dont want your beliefs laughed, dont share them.

good point. if someone uses, whatever, to get them through their day then they should have at it. however, theistic beliefs in one form or another are held by most people on this planet. the problem that i have, besides the shoving your beliefs onto others thing, is that what people think and believe effects how they interact with others and how they want the other people in their society to live and act. we dont even need to get into how it hurts personal freedom and hinders scientific study.

thegdin; I think that, idealy; people should evaluate their beliefs and decide for themselves whether is benefits them or hinders them. Many theists simply follow a religion because its what they were brought up with; they never question their beliefs in order to decide for themselves if they want to believe or not. Unfortunatley, this girl seemed to be hindered by her religion; I think that if she ever really took a good look at her religion she would realize that she didn't want to follow it.

Here's the deal, there are 2 types of Mormons: Whores and Prudes. I think it is so funny Mormons ALWAYS get so defensive about religon. I can critisize mormons because I grew up in Utah, and then got the fuck out! I've seen mormons drink, have sex, do drugs, and then go to church on Sunday and be all "innocent little angel", go on missions that weren't supposed to and got sent home early. I've had friends convert just for girlfriends. So yes, I don't like mormons and all their wacky beliefs
