oh, right i just relize now, becuase i was thinking the new FJ cruiser on road today, thanks remind me. i just throught it was a same name as back in 60's, i was bit confuse :S
my uncles has 1972 FJ40 3.4L inline 4 diesel. and it was really slow, but great on fuel. It way better than my 89 pick up V6 gas, i get like 18MPG highway and 16MPG city, FJ diesel get 26MPG city and 35MPG highway
@nrhbmw : the serie 60 was available from 1981 to 1987 with a 4 cylinder, 3.4 litre engine, that model was called BJ60, in 1986 and 1987, that same body was available with a 6 cylinder ( also diesel ) and was called HJ60.
@ wolfpl1947 ; there's no such thing as 1984 V6 diesel ! They where straight 6. They were imported to Canada in 1986-87 in the HJ60 For the 4 cylinder, they were imported to Canada from 1981- 1987 in the HJ60. The 4 cylinder were as well in the BJ40-42 and from 1985-87 in the BJ70. These are all models that were available in Canada. To bad now, most of them are all rusted but the engine are still good !
I was speaking to someone who had a Crusier with this engine & said that it towed an eight tone truck without breaking sweat, he said it was the best motor ever
Was that factory orriginal engine? What manufacturer is the engine? They were never sold in the US were they? If factory, did it come as both a 6-cyl and a 4-cyl?
Of course its the factory engine. This engine's model shown above is the 3B. 4cyl, 3.4L. One of the toughest engine in the world. Has sleeved cylinder and gear as timimg system. The B series diesels were manufactured by both Hino and Daihatsu. Dont know if they were sold in the US too but this is a Canadian version. They come as both in 6-cyl and 4-cyl version, but the 6-cyl 4.2L (H and 2H model) dont have sleeved piston.
nice 3b my friend
