the gti is not chipped. if so the race would have went one of two ways.... tie or the gti would win. apr stg2 comletely changes the 2.0t into a whole nother beast. chipped gti is one of the fastest hatches ive ever driven from a 3rd gear pull.

I own a speed6 and know for a fact that the speed3 has 274hp to the crank, and i believe that the gti has about 200hp to the crank. Correct me if im wrong. on the speeds an intake, and test pipe combined add about 30hp. do the math and then compare it to a gti with the mods listed above
@LARRYWR89 i am a speed3 owner, and cousin recently got gti. You have to also consider the immense gain in torque and power the GTI gets with the stage 2 chip. And i think the gti is a bit lighter as well starting off. In the end with the stage 2 it is maybe pushing 260whp and maybe 290tq (rough estimate, dont hold me to it). And it well be getting the power down to the wheels a lot faster too. in this gti was better equipped and should have beaten the speed3. horsepower isnt everything :-)

were did you get those numbers from? to me that looks like what the crank horsepower would be not at the wheels stage 1 is 250HP 303TQ that's what APR clams anyway i think its a little off myself, this is also coming from a B5 s4 owner, i had the chip and exhaust and there they calmed 315HP 390TQ really made more like 260AWHP
it all depends on what octane fuel you use. personally you should use nothing but the best. and besides anyway the GTi has more awards than any other car out there regardless.

I disagree on that I love the way the mkv looks..but they underpowered the hell out of it...If you're going to charge the same price (or more) for your car then give it almost as much power or something. 200hp vs 260+...not even a chance I would consider the GTI for the price they ask.
If I were looking to buy a hothatch I would rather get a mazdaspeed 3, the GTI is just so ugly. And the mazda has great performance for its price. I currently own a Jetta Wolfsburg ed. with the 2.0t. Its fun and suits my needs.
a stage 2 GTI like this one actually has a VERY hard time to hit 100mph in the 1/4 mile. A stock MS3 can easily hit 100mph and has been reviewed hitting 102-103 stock. That'sall I have to say about that. The GTI is a great all round car though

April of 2006 I had a mark V GTIordered but they were very hard to find, so after more than five months of waiting and going to the dealer once a week to test drive the demo over and over I gave up. I heard of the speed 3 and did ALOT of research. I bought the speed 3 oct of 2006. I swear on my mothers soul if I had gotten the gti and then drove a speed 3 I would have FUCKING KILLED myself PERIOD. GTI is nice, but from a diff universe.
I went car shopping looked at both. I didnt care about the ms3 extra hp, the interior was way to cheap looking. I bought the GTI and its the best thing i did.
Cheap looking? Did you not get a car with plaid seats? That or you got the dumb autobahn package and spent an extra like 3+ grand which would mean you spent way more on your GTI than on a speed3..got less power hp...less torque..less doors...less cargo space etc. etc.

ya thats WHEEL horsepower. an ms3 puts out about 260 horsepower to the crank, and about 210 to the wheels. so the gti has a lot more power
