  • @futurematt5 no prob fam.. i'll try to get more stuff up in the future.

  • Sine WAve

    Saw TOOF!!!!

  • i really enjoyed this, very nice sounds. thanks, man! fwiw, i'm an ex-classical musician.

  • @selectTunes thx man... i listen to classical alot... never really know who creates the songs most the time, but beautiful pieces regardless!

  • @selectTunes i enoyed it too. i'm looking for my first sampler and can use good tips. slikdarelik: you need to change batteries for your fire alarm. it keeps beeping in the background. oh, this was posted 2007. maybe you've done that already.

  • @deadmongrel ive since moved.. lol.. those days in that damn apt. is OVER, thk goodness!

  • @slikdarelic :D

  • teach me how to dougie

  • nice one bruv!

  • Yo dawg, we herd you liked waveforms, so we put some sawtooths in yo classical music so you can listen to waveforms while you listen to waveforms. (sorry!)

  • Sick beats dude.

  • I agree.. You don't have to put so much inflection on your words... Nice video, I have been trying to understand this for a while.

  • @AdrienChaos It's really not hard to understand. Then again, I'm a city girl and this is how almost everyone here talks.

  • @LunitaValeria thk u Lunita... :-)

  • did he say squaretooth? LMFAO

  • some dope shit. try sidechaining for same effect. lots of bustahs leaving disrespectful comments.

  • Timbaland could sure use this video... that is if he don't sample the whole thing for his next hit lol!

  • Good video. I know this is an old video, but still... I've been researching on RS7K. It was released on 2001 and I think, it is so ahead of time, considering MPC2KXL was released in 2000. I wonder why RS7K didn't really sell a lot. I am thinking of getting it, since I realized I am not a MPC guy (I had a MPC), and can be found cheap sometimes.

  • haya buddy, enjoyed this vid man, your bringing a classic english 90s dance production style to hiphop, & it really works well man, the RS is a cool machine & it seems your doing sumin striong & original with it. keep it up buddy

    stoltz

  • I would love to have your kit man. :D

  • THAT IS BANGIN. YOU GOTTA KEEP PUTTIN THESE VIDS OUT. WE NEED THIS. EVERYONE & THEY MOMMA CAN GET MPC VIDS. US RS7000 FOLK ARE LUCKY 2 HAVE YOU.

  • I love my Yamaha RM1x (the little sister of this behemoth)... But I really get a boner watching the RS-7000.... *spurt*

  • great stuff bro!

  • Like your style man. Nice beats. You're really making something new with your samples too, which I love.

    Cheers mate.

  • Thanks for the tip!

  • sick brotha thanks for the vid these little explanations go a long way for some of us. Thank you

  • This video is a good example of why you should know how to make good music before wasting lots of money on equipment that you don't need/won't help you.

  • @LemonTartProductions your just dumb bro.

  • Hey, Slik, thanks for showing people this stuff. Methinks most people out there (without one) don't realize the incredible power of the RS7k.

  • Cutes Beatz Bro!

  • turn that fucking reverb off, jesus christ

  • ummm... there isnt any reverb fool... there IS some delay though... u want to change something? make ur own vid!

  • @slikdarelic

Yo relic, fuk these cats, trying to diss ur sounds. Ill stick to the RS forever, I'm an addict for nearly 9 years,

BTW: if yall want a real Space Echo, get the RS7K, best machine to accomplish...

The RS smokes every groove gear with the newest OS, the MPC have more pads, but thats it, nuffin can compare to it really , try it u wont b disappointed.

  • @sephardimm

How do you compare it to an mv-8000? I got one but I'm trying to find an rs so I could incorporate the two.

  • @TheReasonableLogic

Well, the MV got partly better FX and instruments. The VGA feature is nice. I'd use the RS as the main sequencer, because you got 18 buttons for controllin e'thing.

The RS is so easy to use, just select the track u wanna record on, define the length of the part(1-99 Bars), select quantize and u ready 2 go. Im makin beats on it, if u wanna hear some ov my work, just pm me.

  • ur not bright

  • Nice! Allways cool to see something new!

  • Hey, that sounds pretty good!

  • sounds kinda bad

  • You are one perfect example of people not understanding the art form of sample based music. People who do not understand the difference of sound image using a directly recorded piano, and one recorded from a vinyl record. Listen, then act.

  • thk u for havin my back Svenskval... some of these guys are just hilarious!

  • mpc 4000 has this feature as well

  • Lame.

  • Farking Hilarious ! ! ! Dope-y for sure !

  • Dope Video

  • beware of the great white and it's mighy square teeth!!! XD

  • Square Tooth?!?! Thats a new one!! LMAO!!!

  • its not square tooth... its square TOOF... ;D

    da relic

  • @slikdarelic lol, I do like that square toof.

  • Hey Slik... what kinda stand you got your rs7k on there? I need to get something like that for some gear over here.

  • the Quiklok QL400... go to quiklok... its a mixer stand.

    da relic

  • how do i change the arpeggiator patterns?

    Thanks in advance:-)

  • the arps only have 3 patterns... up, down, and variable i think... shouldve gave us the Motif arps... i believe its in the order the notes are pressed/played.

    da relic

  • There's random too, isn't it? And variable is up/down I think. Also you can choose wether the arp should be sorted (so bottom to top/reverse etc. depending on the arp pattern) or in the order you played it.

  • that shit was beautiful, i don't even know if any of the gear thats out now can do that but dam synth types shit like wafeform shit really can spice up your tracks.

  • WAYYYY BETTER than darenager dude

  • haha..Nice! I like the beat its somethin I could picture Nas jumping on it.

good tip, on how to mask a sample to be untracable, important nowaydays.

  • nice, could you do some with sine waves and square waves too? i'd like to learn the difference...

  • actually, i do have a beat made with the triangle wave... there isnt a sine wave on the RS, u hafta use triangle... the reverse sawtooth is best for me bcuz it actually fades out certain parts u do not wish to hear in ur mix... great for disguisin samples, makin them ur own.

  • okay, thanks :)

  • First off, and LFO is an Low Frequence Oscillator. It has a lower frequency than a regular oscillator (signal (sound) source), usually bellow the range of human hearing. Therefore, the signal it produce is used to modulate other parameters (In this case the amplitude of the sample).

  • A sine wave is a "round" wave, basicly fading in and out. In hearable frequency ranges, it will sound smooth, as it contains no harmonics, only the base frequency.

A triangle wave is similar, but it have straight edges. Bellow hearing ranges (eg used as a LFO) it will work pretty much like a sine wave. In hearing ranges it will sound a bit buzzier than the sine, as it contains all the even harmonics.

  • For effects such as tremolo(modulated amplitude or filter cutoff frequency) and vibrato (modulated pitch) you use a sine or a triangle wave. If used as in the video, they will make the sound of the sample fade in and out.

Sawtooth waves have a rise and then a sudden drop (or the reverse sawtooth have a sudden rise and a slower drop, as demonstrated in the video). The contain all odd and even harmonics, so in hearing frequencies they will sound buzzy.

  • Square waves are symetrical pulse waves, and can be seen as simple on/off switches. The rise from the highest and the drop to the lowest point of the wave is almost instant. They contain the odd harmonics, and will sound a bit buzzy, somewhat round, in hearing frequencies. If used as in the video, a square wave will make the sound of the sample drop in and out, without any fading.

  • Some times (especially when used as a sound source), the width of the pulse wave can be adjusted, or even modulated, so you can get other variations of it than the perfect square. You can make the pulse width higher or lower, which will make the ratio of frequency between signal and no signal higher or lower.

  • Ohhhh Shut the fuck up. Quit trying to be all gangster and shit.

  • @TwitchyX111 cant help it... im from East New York, Brooklyn... come and visit sometime. >:-/

    da relic

  • hey man those are tight beats you got down in that box. Keep it crankin. Do you know if that rs7000 works with live or sonar?

  • i dont use the computer to trk down... but it has midi, so u should be able to hook it up.

    da relic

  • you guys make fun of the way he talks but this guy sounds like he knows more shit about music than any of you probably ever will.

  • I used the rs7000 to produce some of my tracks. It's a nice unit to add to the studio.

  • that is so dope.

if you could change the paramater of the lfo frequency you'd have some pretty awesome house and electro effects.

  • square TOOF is dope.

  • este cabron esta rapeando o esta hablando?? que pedo..

  • is that Bach's music??? im not sure, but he was a great composer nonetheless... classical music is great for clean instrumental samplin... no voices, drums or anything else that u dont want involved in ur sample... i sample everything except gospel...its just so much out there, and the way that ive been samplin over the last 6 years opens up alot of fresher ideas that put more money in the producer's pocket, not the record company or the original artist... sounds cruel to some, but its music.

  • yeah man. these faggots with their guitars and keyboards won't understand what you're trynna say. The fact that people will actually take a riff, chop it up, and play it back however they want, is not something they can understand.

  • "if only bach could listen your rap chit remix of his tune he would rap(e) dance ya"

This is why hip hop needs to go back to the underground, rappers sold out in record numbers and fucked with the sampling laws. Let's go back to the underground, make this shit for the underground, fuck the money and let's continue how it was meant to continue.

    yo fuck bach.

  • Two Rs7000s are a must, if you got the dough.

  • i got three. :)

  • shit man, u love that machine more than me. The only one I got so far, shit cost me $500 off of ebay. Dude had no description of it up, plus a small ass picture. When I finally got it, three of the keys didn't even respond too well.

I'm lookin to cop on asap. peace.

  • why is that?

  • why is what?

  • sounds good

  • like the 2nd tune much better

what sample mode did you use

not understanding what you do exactly since I only used the sawtooth for basic sawtooths/synthleads.

can't you shorten the beginning and the end by attack and decay?

  • thx 4 the tips sounds good. much respect

  • you should learn to play some instrument "younowwhatimasayn?"

  • i play the guitar and the xylophone quite well... nah mean!

    da relic

  • so use your skills in your music more! live instruments in any kind of music become extremely popular!

  • trust me... got it covered... but ummm... these are RS7000 TUTORIALS!!! sorry

    da relic

  • Don't listen to these 'real instrument' idiots...I play many instruments...proficiently...and I love electronic synth and samplers. They are real instruments....more to do with technical skills as much as any other instruments. Great guitarists might suck at sample programming. I like your shite.

  • if only bach could listen your rap chit remix of his tune he would rap(e) dance ya

  • u suck lol

  • sounds dope..yeah didnt know bout the sawtooth in the way that your using it; pretty dope

  • Sunds like s h i t ...Sounds like an ape programmed it.

  • saaaahtoof

  • LMAO...you got me in tears over here...be funny if cats started callin dukes "saaahtoof" LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoo

  • Hey Mr. Relic I really like your musical ides and what you are doing with the RS-7000. My style is different, but its not about that good musical taste and artistry come in all shapes and forms. RS-7000 is one of my main units I use for my compositions. Come and check it out. See(hear)what you think. Peace.

  • Have you ever tried the MC909? I do this with its LFOs too, it's nice though, because you can sync the lfo rates to the bpm. The sound engine on the RS is way better though.

  • da relic off the hook on the RS man

really creative shit you doin over there

    peace

  • keep the tutorials comin living fossil

  • Sup, you ill with the beats on the RS7000. my son like working with it he's pretty nice on it for a six year old.check him out son of O.Z youngest producer. aightt God Bless

  • very cool.

  • Cool, thanks man. The MPC1000 bootleg JJOS just recently came out with a sine and sawtooth wave addon that will allow you to put these two waves onto your samples, but I never really thought about using them this way. Good looks.

  • ive used it briefly, and it does a few things the RS can do... it is cheaper, so u can expect some features are left out... but its still a great sampler to sketch out ur ideas and build around... i personally do not know anyone that uses it, so i guess i'll be lookin for ur vids soon...lol

    da relic

  • You make some amazing sounds. I was thinking of getting this but the korg esx 1 is about 200 dollars cheaper and i'm kind of on a budget, have you ever used the esx or know anybody who has?

great stuff man, keep it going.

  • I use both. msg me if u have q's. = )

  • Thanks very much mate. I've been learning a lot from your videos!

  • the 2nd beat is great

to poster from yesterday, yah rs7k will slice a loop into 16th notes or whatever it has a few different algorithms that can detect peaks and chop on those also.

  • yo wassup cool! i'm wondering when this sampler started being manufactured..? i have the korg esx-1, i'm having lots of fun wit it - it also has the sawtooth function that alters the beat by silencing the off-beat... now i noticed that shit device isn't being sold anywhere... eh?

  • the RS came out around May/June 2001... around the same time as the original Motif.

    da relic

  • u are absolutely correct, and the reverse sawtooth is also called an "inverse" sawtooth... some older books, and i believe some older type synths use the term squaretooth. there were different terminologies used over the many years of music... thats how i learned it in science class...(1977 lol)... besides, im tryin to do these vids in 1 or 2 takes... live with minimal mistakes.

    da relic

  • does this auto-chop the sample for you and can youtime stretch?

  • A sine wave and a sawtooth wave are two different things...no such thing as a sawtooth-sine wave. Also, there's no squaretooth wave...it's a square wave. Not dissin' just trying to help out. Peace.

  • Just to expand a little:

sine&saw actually are variations of the same thing : an oscillator changing how quickly, and in what direction the voltage goes from min to max.

Verticals are instant transitions. Diagonals go from higher or lower or whatever over some time.

  • ...

i like the bruvas explenation betta

  • SLIK -- you are SICK!!! ;) Rock the hell on!! Love ya vidz!!

  • First beat sounds like one of my favorite from NAS... sounds cool buddy... i'll try that tonite with my RS7000... indeed i never touched that part of my RS7K... tht's because i didn't have it on the RM1x (that i used fo some time)

  • im addicted to the 2nd beat.

  • Nice tutorial! Thanks for sharing :) You make some great beats.

  • yo thanx man,u a GENIUS!!!!!!!!!!

  • no... im a JEDI

    da relic

  • Yo u fuk wit dat Jedi Mind Tricks

  • So that's how you get away with those samples... "These are not the samples you're looking for." :P Nice demo! Second beat is cool. Makes me have a second look at the RS7000, which are going for waay below original price over here in Oz. But can you play the "keys" ala-MPC drumpads?

  • Ayo.. is there anyway to get that same effect on software ? Reason or FL any of em'?

  • im not sure, u gotta check what ur usin.

  • I like the first beat and the first sample better than the second one... I can honestly see that as being someone's single if you worked on the beat right.
