I went to buy a Stan Getz cd, not knowing which to purchase since he had about 10 different titles under his name. So I picked up this CD and looking at the cover I thought to myself, "these guys look like they know what they're doing..." thankfully I picked a good album!
I gotta say this is the best improv outros to a jazz piece I have ever heard! Was at a Hillstone restaurant (formerly Houstons in Phoenix) when I heard this come over the playlist and needed to hear it again. Only Stan could do this.
It's so funny hearing you say that. I have always wished I had been around for Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, all those great swing bands of the 30's and 40's ....
I saw Stan live in 1966 at Parsons College. He was magnificent! A couple months later, in the Fall, Louie Armstrong played for Parsons Homecoming...what a great year I had !!!
@FraGilesMary you have no idea how jealous of you I am..I was definitely born in the wrong era...I missed out on seeing Paul Desmond, Stan Getz, the Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Louis Armstrong, Miles Davis...oh how I wish I wasn't born in the 90's
