News - the pilots were disciplined for this flyover - the Air Force investigated it and found the T-38's were only 16 feet above the press box and traveling at over 400 kts. The lead pilot has lost his right to fly military aircraft
We care because getting the entire story regarding an event or incident is crucial to understanding it in it's complete context. YOU might not care, but others do. So the information is given to those who do...Not for those who don't. Next question.
I just reread my answer because your comment caused me some concern as to whether or not my response appeared "hostile" or even "terse" - I simply do not see any hostility in my reply. There may have been a little bit of "dry cynicism" - but certainly no hostility! The simple issue is - Did these pilots violate operational rules? Did they endanger lives and property? Did they do it for reasons of ego? The AF investigated, and found that the answer to all of these questions is "Yes"!
@Leviathan189 Just someone on their high horse trying to get these guys in trouble, is all this is. Someone trying to make a name for themselves, by putting these guys on the chopping block.
It's lot lower than 1000 feet, probably 300-500 ft. I was there. They were just above the press box and the press box, where this video was taken, isn't nearly 1000 ft high. The Air Force is investigating. One of the pilots was from Iowa. They were introduced at halftime and got a huge standing ovation.
Please understand why you don’t see this every week. Flying jets requires discipline and airmanship. Discipline requires checking your ego and applying the rules. Airmanship requires using common sense to safely complete a mission. You saw an unacceptable demonstration of both here: well below a safe altitude, not in good formation, and 20 seconds late. It was loud (cool!), but not representative of the discipline and airmanship a winning Air Force demands. These traits keep us free!
@squatf16 Keep us free from what, son? 18 yr old muslims in Afghanistan? Sell it somewhere else...Perfect timing, right at 1000ft, and all got laid that night (except the married guy). Stadiametric ranging on wikipedia may set you straight on the altitude. And if you say winning AF, I will puke in my mouth...

I fly at ten feet all day long. America is turning into a bunch of finger pointing pussies.

Whether it was high enough or not, it was a great tribute to the armed forces, and everyone in the stadium thought it was the greatest!
And the PSU flyover was at least as low as this one and we never heard anything about it. What's up with that?

They should do that at every game! That is what inspires young people to join our military forces. That was awesome!
